Smartphones today are ubiquitous source of sensitive information. Information leakage instances on the smartphones are on the rise because of exponential growth in smartphone market. android is the most widely used operating system on smartphones. Many information flow tracking and information leakage detection techniques are developed on android operating system. Taint analysis is commonly used data flow analysis technique which tracks the flow of sensitive information and its leakage. This paper provides an overview of existing Information flow tracking techniques based on the Taint analysis for android applications. It is observed that static analysis techniques look at the complete program code and all possible paths of execution before its run, whereas dynamic analysis looks at the instructions executed in the program-run in the real time. We provide in depth analysis of both static and dynamic taint analysis approaches.

This paper introduces a novel sensor-less, eventdriven power analysis framework called FEPMA for providing highly accurate and nearly instantaneous estimates of power dissipation in an android smartphone. The key idea is to collect and correctly record various events of interest within a smartphone as applications are running on the application processor within it. This is in turn done by instrumenting the android operating system to provide information about power/performance state changes of various smartphone components at the lowest layer of the kernel to avoid time stamping delays and component state observability issues. This technique then enables one to perform fine-grained (in time and space) power metering in the smartphone. Experimental results show significant accuracy improvement compared to previous approaches and good fidelity with respect to actual current measurements. The estimation error of the proposed method is lower by a factor of two than the state-of-the-art method.

system software program of ARM11-based vehicle mobile terminal is put forward in the paper, the program is in the core of AGPS technology and implements vehicle position. And it can communicate between the vehicle and control center through the GPS and LTE technology. The experimental results show that the program achieved a new vehicle applications and there is seamless connectivity between the vehicle and sensors devices, it has a good feasibility and reliability.

The increasing usage of smartphones has raised security concerns regarding these devices due to presence of high amount of personal and sensitive data. The risk is higher without a proper mechanism to handle the authentication to access the smartphone device. In this work, we present a standalone modular biometric system based on periocular information to authenticate towards device. The proposed system has been implemented on the android operating system. We field tested and evaluated the proposed system using a new database acquired capturing samples with three different devices. We apply the three well known feature extraction techniques, SIFT, SURF and BSIF independently in the proposed peroicular based authentication system. The best performance achieved with GMR - 89.38% at FMR - 0.01% indicates the applicability of the proposed periocular based mobile authentication system in a real-life scenario.

All mobile phones use internal flash memory to store information. The flash memory contains personal user data that can be extracted with the use of forensics tools. This information could be used to profile a user's daily activity. However, all smartphones provide a tool to erase (factory reset) the information from the flash memory. Twenty-one smartphones were used to evaluate the effectiveness of the factory-reset feature. A set of forensics tools from Cellebrite was used for the extraction and analysis process. The factory-reset feature was found to leave significant amounts of user-generated content after operation. The amount of user-generated content varied by vendor and model number. Extracted data are presented as evidence to show the ineffectiveness of the reset. User data such as photographs, audio files, text files, login information and geolocation data were left on the phone. The data analysis uncovered the unreliable nature of a factory reset and how the user is not properly protected.

Emerging technologies are transforming the workflows in pervasive healthcare enterprises. Pervasive Healthcare is a one of the developing technology within the pervasive computing paradigm. The presence of pervasive computing, consisting of wireless network gives innovative medium for data transmission of medical applications. We currently use a various wireless technology in healthcare domain. In the existing technology of e-Health has less security of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and cannot access the medical records in wireless medium. An EMR is a digital version of the traditional paper-based medical record for an each patient's record. The EMR represents a medical record within a faculty can access the data, such as a doctor or a patient or administration. The accessing of information from the remote database should be high security;it should be a secured access of data by authorized persons. We propose a Pervasive Mobile Healthcare solve these problems and provide user to access the multimedia medical record from anywhere and anytime with security using Elliptical Curve Cryptography(ECC) algorithm, which includes authentication and access control. The authentication is allows the types of users who is authorized to use the application. Security is provided through the process of Encryption and decryption of data. This secured system will provide security in delivering the EMR of patients. Implementation here is done by using android software and for database MySql is used in Server system. A Wi-Fi enabled mobile is used to receive or transmit the secured medical data as well as image retrieval. The novelty of my application deals with mobility where the users can able to access the secure information. The mobile application develop for real world environment.

This paper introduces a heart rate detection system based on android mobile phone system. The system uses android smart mobile phone to collect the sphygmus signal from a finger, then analyzes the signal by Java program, finally gives the measured heart rate. The result shows that the system is a more accurate and more available mobile phone sphygmus detection system than the existing software in the market.

Purpose - In response to the changing world of information access, librarians at the New York Law School's Mendik Library became interested in providing a full-service mobile phone application so that users could search the catalog, access the reserves module, renew books and find information such as library hours. The purpose of this paper is to show how the library went from this concept to an award-winning product. Design/methodology/approach - The paper shows step by step how the librarians listened to experts in the field, searched the mobile stores to find other libraries that have done this, chosen a vendor, and rolled out the service with a multimedia information campaign. Findings - Using a team approach, it is possible to develop a mobile application that is useful and still being accessed a year after its first launch. Research limitations/implications - More needs to be done to see the precise state of mobile access in the world's libraries. Originality/value - The approach documented in the paper will serve as a template for libraries planning to add mobile access, but are unsure of how to proceed.
