In this work we consider the optimum antenna array signal processing for spoofing interference detection to provide GNSS integrity monitoring procedure. In accordance to generalized likelihood ratio test (GLRT) we constructed decision-making algorithm when there is no a priori information about the coordinates of both the user and the false navigation signal source. Since the practical implementation of such algorithm requires large computational costs, we also consider another algorithm, which is optimized for the situation when these coordinates are accurately known. However, we examine the second algorithm in the situation of a priori uncertainty about user's coordinates, i.e. in some uncertainty area. Comparative analysis of the mentioned algorithms was processed in terms of probability-based characteristics obtained as the result of statistical simulation procedure in Matlab. Finally, the value of the uncertainty area size is established, when the efficiency loss of the second algorithm in comparison with the first one is within acceptable limits.

This work aims to present the impact of disturbing the stationary modes in a rectangular-shaped reverberation chamber by small-dimensioned stirrers. The study focuses on plane wave’s modeling of the electric field inside a flat cavity using information theory criteria. The emphasis is on anisotropy of the number of plane-waves distribution in the cavity and a strong increase near stirrers. The distributions of the plane wave spectra are studied for a set of reverberation chamber configurations at frequencies close to and far superior to the lowest usable frequency.

Our goal is to devise a wideband High-Resolution technique that does not require a priori knowledge of DoA rough estimates, and that is able to exploit multiple spatial invariances. Existing tensor array processing techniques are limited to the narrowband case. On the other hand, wideband Esprit has only been proposed with focusing matrices, requiring a priori DoA knowledge. We resort to the decomposition of tensors built on space, space translation and frequency diversities, and demonstrate the good behavior of the algorithm proposed.

The problem of direction of arrival (DoA) estimation of seismic plane waves impinging on an array of sensors is considered from a new deterministic perspective using tensor decomposition techniques. In addition to temporal and spatial sampling, further information is taken into account, based on the different propagation speed of body waves (P and S) through solid media. Performances are evaluated through simulated data in terms of the Cramer-Rao bounds and compared to other reference methods such as ESPRIT and MUSIC, in the presence of additive Gaussian circular noise. The proposed approach is then applied to real seismic data recorded at the Argentiere glacier, occurring at the interface between the ice mass and the underlying bedrock. MUSIC and ESPRIT rely on the estimation of the covariance matrix of received data, thus requiring a large number of time samples. Moreover, information about propagation speed diversity is not taken into account by existing models in array processing. The discovered advantage in terms of the average error in estimating the direction of arrival of body waves is noteworthy, especially for a low number of sensors, and in separating closely located sources. We present a method for kernel antenna array processing using Gaussian kernels as basis functions. The method first identifies the data clusters by using a modified sparse greedy matrix approximation. Then, the algorithm performs model reduction in order to try to reduce the final size of the beamformer. The method is tested with simulations that include two arrays made of two and seven printed half wavelength thick dipoles, in scenarios with 4 and 5 users coming from different angles of arrival. The antenna parameters are simulated for all DOAs, and include the dipole radiation pattern and the mutual coupling effects of the array. The method is compared with other state-of-the-art nonlinear processing methods, to show that the presented algorithm has near optimal capabilities together with a low computational burden.

The estimation of directions of arrival is formulated as the decomposition of a 3-way array into a sum of rank-one terms, which is possible when the receive array enjoys some geometrical structure. The main advantage is that this decomposition is essentially unique under mild assumptions, if computed exactly. The drawback is that a low-rank approximation does not always exist. Therefore, a coherence constraint is introduced that ensures the existence of the latter best approximate, which allows to localize and estimate closely located or highly correlated sources. Then Cramer-Rao bounds are derived for localization parameters and source signals, assuming the others are nuisance parameters;some inaccuracies found in the literature are pointed out. Performances are eventually compared with unconstrained reference algorithms such as ESPRIT, in the presence of additive complex Gaussian noise, with possibly noncircular distribution.

Several terrestrial communication systems use the same frequency spectrum as Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) or bands close to it. Pseudolites constitute one such system that generally uses the GNSS spectrum for signal propagation. The signals from pseudolites in the operating region play a crucial role in augmenting satellite based user navigation. These signal transmitters are deployed at ground stations for the majority of their applications. In the near region, pseudolites are overpowered and cause impediments to normal receiver operation due to an increase in the noise floor. Interference and jammers form another source of GNSS disruption. Interference could result from intentional jammers or unintentional signal disturbances from inband or out-of-band high power sources. A GNSS user can experience interference from near region pseudolites as well as from other interferers. These interference sources may have directional coexistence with pseudolites or GNSS satellites. Such disruptions might completely block signal acquisition and lead to processing failure. The capability of antenna array space-time processing to counter the above mentioned scenario is demonstrated herein. In addition to interference mitigation, pseudolite signal recovery in the near region and subsequent enhancements are shown. Results that demonstrate improvement in measurement geometry for various antenna array configurations and different processing modes are also shown.

Experimental Study of the Invariants of the Time-Reversal Operator for a Dielectric Cylinder Using Separate Transmit and Receive arrays

The decomposition of the time reversal operator (DORT method) is applied to electromagnetic waves in order to characterize a dielectric cylinder. It consists in determining the Time Reversal Invariants of the Time Reversal Operator. Here, this matrix is built from the inter-element responses between distinct transmit and receive arrays. In this paper experimental results obtained between 2 and 4 GHz are compared to a theoretical model, developed in an other paper (Minonzio et al., "Theory of the time-reversal operator for a dielectric cylinder using separate transmit and receive arrays,"IEEE Trans. antennas Propag., vol. 57, pp. 2331-2340, 2009). The DORT method is then applied to an inverse problem to determine the diameter and the permittivity of the cylinder. It is shown experimentally that different experimental parameters can be estimated from the singular values of the time reversal operator.

The DORT method applies to scattering analysis with arrays of transceivers. It consists in the study of the time-reversal invariants. In this paper, a large dielectric cylinder is observed by separate transmit and receive arrays with linear polarizations, E or H, parallel to its axis. The decomposition of the scattered field into normal modes and projected harmonics is used to determine the theoretical time-reversal invariants. It is shown that the number of invariants is about 2k(1)a, where is the cylinder radius and k(1) the wave number in the surrounding medium. Furthermore, this approach provides approximated expressions of the two first invariants for a sub-resolved cylinder, i.e., when the cylinder diameter is smaller than the resolution width of the arrays. Quantized principal component selection precoding for spatial multiplexing with limited feedback

In this paper, for spatial multiplexing with limited feedback, a quantized principal component selection (QPCS) precoding scheme is proposed that achieves comparable capacity to the closed-loop multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) and furthermore adapts to various fading channel conditions without any additional feedback bits and transmit channel state information (CSI). We propose a systematic design method for a codebook consisting of a finite number of unitary matrices based on a maximizing minimum distance criterion in the one-dimensional angular domain and show that the method outperforms the Grassmannian subspace packing method in various fading channel conditions. The proposed QPCS precoding scheme allows for adjustment of the precoding matrix based on limited feedback information on the principal vectors approximating a MIMO channel in the angular domain according to various channel conditions. Furthermore, for practical implementation of the QPCS precoding scheme, we propose a structured precoder optimization procedure and show that the proposed procedure induces a negligible capacity loss compared with the exhaustive precoder optimization, even with considerably reduced complexity.
