The visually impaired need to confront several problems while performing their daily activities. Independent navigation becomes one of the major problems in their social life. This issue further deteriorates when they travel across new unknown environments. This paper provides an efficient solution for the visually impaired in the form of a hardware automated stick based on Google's Cloud Video Intelligence API. This system uses real time video processing to analyze the obstacles or objects coming in the path of the blind and provides feedback in the form of voice messages. Hence the system facilitates real time navigation in both indoor and outdoor environments. Also the cost effectiveness and the versatility of the system make it more adaptive and easy to use.

There is phenomenal growth in numbers of vehicles on road as well as in numbers of theft cases. In a few countries, vehicle theft cases are believed to be one in every 10 minutes. In such high-intensity scenario, it is not possible to identify the stolen vehicle with traditional methods such as manual check, RFID base technologies where it is easy to manipulate and remove. This paper presents a design with the implementation of a system based on deep learning technique where SSD algorithm is coupled with K-Nearest Neighbors algorithm and convolutional neural network classifier, to identify the stolen/suspicious vehicles without human intervention. This design operates in two stages: At first stage Tensor flow, Tensor Flow detection API from Google is used to detect the vehicle with sub-modules to identify color and registration number from a real-time video stream. In second stage it compares the extracted characteristic i.e. vehicle registration number and color with the RTO record. If in comparison it observes any anomaly in two sets or matched with stolen vehicle complaint record at police station. It would notify the concerned authorities. A prototype model is developed based on the presented design.

The paper considers the development of modules that allow to work with data using automated methods for processing and analyzing information on urban infrastructure with use of a single work procedure. The main contribution of this paper is the proposed methods for collecting and initial processing of information on infrastructure and real estate objects using different resources and technologies for extracting information. Also, the paper deals with the algorithm of interaction with the API of the Russian state site “ReformaGKH” and management of obtained data. Key software solutions for building the multiservice informational and analytical online platform of integrated geospatial data processing to support decision-making on urban areas development are described.

Dealing with the evolution of operating systems is challenging for developers of mobile apps, who have to deal with frequent upgrades that often include backward incompatible changes of the underlying API framework. As a consequence of framework upgrades, apps may show misbehaviours and unexpected crashes once executed within an evolved environment. Identifying the portion of the app that must be modified to correctly execute on a newly released operating system can be challenging. Although incompatibilities are visibile at the level of the interactions between the app and its execution environment, the actual methods to be changed are often located in classes that do not directly interact with any external element. To facilitate debugging activities for problems introduced by backward incompatible upgrades of the operating system, this paper presents FILO, a technique that can recommend the method that must be changed to implement the fix from the analysis of a single failing execution. FILO can also select key symptomatic anomalous events that can help the developer understanding the reason of the failure and facilitate the implementation of the fix. Our evaluation with multiple known compatibility problems introduced by Android upgrades shows that FILO can effectively and efficiently identify the faulty methods in the apps.

Mobile application development is gaining increasing attention due to the rapid growth of the mobile technologies and mobile application market. Many universities are putting effort on integrating mobile application development into curriculum. The complexity and consistent changing in mobile development environment brings barriers and difficulties in course development. This paper describes how to enhance teaching effectiveness and engage students actively in mobile application development class through structured practice. The proposed structured practice features two levels of hands-on practice: first, prepare students with foundational knowledge and skills by having them follow the instructor on developing base applications; second, the philosophy of challenge-based learning is adopted in practice, where students are encouraged to independently work on developing implementations for applications with gradually increased complexity. Student feedbacks and performance have indicated the structured practice is an effective way of teaching mobile development which not only enhances the teaching effectiveness but also provides students a positive learning experience. Details of course design and project samples are provided to assist audiences in understanding the usage of structured practice and help with the developing of mobile application development courses.

To assist the disabled, a system was developed and designed to provide passenger transport services for disabled persons in wheelchairs. Machine-learning image-recognition technology was applied to provide accessible bus rides for the disabled. Based on the video footage at the bus stop, this system can judge whether there are wheelchair riders in the waiting area. YOLOv3, a real-time image-recognition model, was used for object recognition and notification. By combining LINE with the Flask Web application framework, it helps the disabled transmit messages and actively notifies bus drivers. The API server was established using the Flask framework. When the system at the bus stop detects the disabled, the images of the disabled waiting for the bus are transmitted to the server, and the images and related messages are transmitted in real time to the users through the LINE Message API. Passengers can also use the LINE chatbot to enter keywords to confirm the real-time location of the bus. The dynamic bus information comes from the Open Data of the Bureau of Transportation. The LINE BOT API program was developed using the PyCharm tool and then transmitted to the Heroku cloud platform for deployment. The LINE BOT API provides real-time wheelchair image recognition, and receives notifications and bus information queries through the LINE chatbot. The main contributions of this study are the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology to provide solutions to facilitate bus rides for the disabled and to improve the quality of barrier-free transport services in modern society.

JavaScript is currently a popular language mainly in the creation of client-side code for both web development and, more and more, for the mobile applications development. In this paper, we analyze learning for programmers in frameworks for the development of mobile JavaScript applications, namely React Native, NativeScript and Ionic. This analysis was carried out based on a taxonomy adapted from Bloom, created in this work for the evaluation of programmers, with criteria initially selected for evaluation and with the application of questions based on the taxonomy in order to obtain the most relevant analysis criteria. The results show that NativeScript was the most difficult to learn framework with the most negative feedback, unlike Ionic and React Native, which presented identical global results, but with a slight upward trend in global mean results for React Native in relation to Ionic.

Efficient utilization of multi-core computers with shared memory depends on many factors. In this article efficiency of multi-core computers with shared memory is investigated. All computer cores execute either parallel streams of a single program, developed in accordance with the OpenMP API, or independent programs. There are no interactions between streams and independent programs. Both parallel and non-parallel (single stream) applications share memory where conflicts may occur. Models for determining the acceleration coefficients of a multi-core computer, analytical expressions which reflect the dependence of the acceleration coefficients on the number of cores, the properties performed the programs, cores and shared memory parameters and formulas for determine recommended numbers of cores for parallel applications in accordance with the OpenMP API are suggested. The main reason for the decrease in performance of multi-core computers with shared memory when parallelizing applications in accordance with the OpenMP API is the overload of shared memory.

Purpose and Motivation: The rapid progress in mobile applications and the highly competitive environment increase the number of mobile application projects. Problem Statement: The purpose of the study is to find an appropriate approach that meets the requirement of mobile application systems. Methods: We will study agile processes to meet the requirements, making mobile application development simple and well-suited wit the characteristics of mobile devices. It was discovered that agile methodologies are best suited to the development of mobile applications as they are small time, need suppleness reduces misuse and promotion of time. Results: We have studied several agile approaches, but no research provides specific reasons to adopt Agile as necessary model for development of mobile applications. Conclusion: For mobile application development, we have proposed the modified Agile methodology that would the best Agile approach and that meets the strengths of each selected approach for mobile software engineering and removing the weakness.

The Trusted Remote Function Interface (TRFI) is a small library that exposes services via a REST API to allow function execution with scientific programming languages. Functional units are uploaded to a remote server using the provided REST API. The API stores registered functions for later execution. Maintaining code using this technique allows clients to repeatedly execute functions without having the native language, typically Octave or Python, installed on the client machine. A common problem in scientific applications is the requirement for a program to interface with scientific scripting languages. Typically, this is not a straightforward approach for accomplishing the data exchange and subsequent function execution on that data from popular languages such as Java or JavaScript. This task is extraordinarily cumbersome if the interpreter, used by the scientific programming language, is not installed locally. By separating the function signature from the underlying implementation, and providing a uniform REST API, the TRFI library allows function interfacing in two ways. First, direct interfacing by using the equipped Java library. Second, the more common scenario is interfacing remotely by deploying the library using aJAX-RS compatible web server. The result of the TRFI library's design and the provided REST API is the facilitation of code interoperability and reuse for scientific applications.
