This paper presents a solution of integrator application programming interface (API) generator. The goal of the solution is to decrease the integration time required for the TR-069 support in an arbitrary device, by providing an adaptive build system which generates API specific for the target device which is defined by a TR-106 data model specification. Evaluation results indicate that the implemented solution contributes to the decrease of integration time, based on the case of an example practical project in which TR-069 service is provided for an Android-based set-top box device.

Several approaches have been proposed for cosimulation between QEMU and SystemC. On the contrary, no paper addresses integration between Open Virtual Platform (OVP) and SystemC. Indeed, OVP models and the related simulator can be integrated into SystemC designs by using TLM 2.0 wrappers and opportune OVP APIs. However, this solution presents some disadvantages, like the incapability of supporting cycle-accurate models, and the necessity of re-design, in terms of SystemC modules, all OVP components that should be integrated in the target platform. To avoid such drawbacks, and provide an easy way to port SystemC models from a QEMU-based to an OVP-based virtual platform and vice versa, this paper presents a common co-simulation approach that works for integrating SystemC components with both QEMU and OVP.

In certain business sectors adapting to modern and cost reducing technologies and service models can be still a challenge. This especially applies for health care related SME, such as hospitals, where cost reduction runs counter the need of being compliant to legal regulations and where the access control has to struggle against a diverse landscape of health care equipment accompanied by dynamic and complex role models. Outsourcing data storage and data processing seems not to reduce the complexity, rather bears the risks of reduced data availability, loss or abuse of data and can increase legal compliance risks and concerns. Since this applies for many SMEs, a common platform, such as an ecosystem, can help to lower the entrance barrier by regaining helpful management functionalities, standardized basic services and therefore push the adoption to modern cost reducing service consumption scenarios. In this paper a generic design pattern for realizing distributed authorization in an API ecosystem is presented. The pattern is applied within a research project, which aims to develop an ecosystem for trading and consuming services within demanding business sectors and reduce lock-in effects for both, service providers and consumers. The concept of Distributed Authorization is applied in a new complex multi entity use-case, where access policies for RESTful APIs can be designed flexible under consideration of service providers' and consumers' requirements which are enforced by a central trusted 3rd party provider.

This work demonstrates the integration of monitoring, analysis, and feedback to perform application-to-resource mapping that adapts to both static architecture features and dynamic resource state. In particular, we present a framework for mapping MPI tasks to compute resources based on run-time analysis of system-wide network data, architecture-specific routing algorithms, and application communication patterns. We address several challenges. Within each node, we collect local utilization data. We consolidate that information to form a global view of system performance, accounting for system-wide factors including competing applications. We provide an interface for applications to query the global information. Then we exploit the system information to change the mapping of tasks to nodes so that system bottlenecks are avoided. We demonstrate the benefit of this monitoring and feedback by remapping MPI tasks based on route-length, bandwidth, and credit-stalls metrics for a parallel sparse matrix-vector multiplication kernel. In the best case, remapping based on dynamic network information in a congested environment recovered 48.9% of the time lost to congestion, reducing matrix-vector multiplication time by 7.8%. Our experiments focus on the Cray XE/XK platform, but the integration concepts are generally applicable to any platform for which applicable metrics and route knowledge can be obtained.

The backbone of a large-scale supercomputer is the interconnection network. As compute nodes become more energy-efficient, the interconnect is accounting for an increasing proportion of the total system energy consumption. The interconnect's energy consumption is, however, only starting to receive serious attention. Some hardware-based schemes have been proposed that exploit idle periods or low utilisation, either by turning off the links or by lowering the frequency and voltage. Although these schemes are effective in certain cases, they do not have enough global information about the application's communication behaviour to efficiently manage the network power consumption. This paper proposes an alternative approach: moving the intelligence into the PMPI layer of the MPI library, and using prediction to discover repetitive patterns in the application's communication behaviour. The core of the prediction algorithm is an n-gram extraction technique, which can accurately predict not only when a link will become unused but also when it will become active again, allowing lanes to be switched off during the idle periods and switched back on again in time to avoid incurring a significant performance degradation. Many HPC applications benefit from prediction, since they have repetitive computation and communication phases. By implementing the energy-saving mechanism inside the MPI library, existing MPI programs do not need to be modified. Using an event-driven simulator, driven by representative HPC workloads, we demonstrate average energy savings in Infiniband switches up to around 33%, while the average execution time increase is only up to 1%.

This paper presents an implementation of Multicore Communications API (MCAPI), with focus on portability, stability, and simplicity of the design. The main motivation for the implementation is instability of other publicly available implementations. The developed implementation utilizes POSIX message queues, that is an easily portable interface and readily compatible with MCAPI. The performance was measured as latency and transfer rate of the API. The measurement platforms were a x86-64 PC and a development board featuring an ARM processor. A MCAPI implementation was used as reference for comparison. PMQ-MCAPI is much more stable and easily usable than other MCAPI implementations publicly available for PC. When transfer size was between 1-8 KiB, latency of transfers between cores was between 9-15 mu s and transfer rate 500-5000 MBps. This translates to 27 000-45 000 cycles and 0.16-1.67 bytes per cycle. CPU and especially performance of its cache were concluded as the most important factors contributing to the performance. In comparison to the reference, latency of the implementation was 1/8 at best, while transfer rate was up to 35x.

Software Development Lifecycle is crucial in Desktop or web application development. Mobile applications are being developed for deployment in smart phones. Looking at the rising need of mobile applications and the associated development complexity, it is imperative to have a dedicated framework lifecycle for mobile application - Mobile application Development Lifecycle (MADLC). The proposed lifecycle includes the following phases: Identification, Design, Development, Prototyping, Testing, Deployment and Maintenance. This lifecycle has been used for over a year in developing Android mobile applications. This lifecycle addresses some of the distinguishing characteristics of mobile applications like life span, complex functionalities, fewer physical interfaces, more number of screens for interaction, battery and memory usage, cross platform development and maintenance. The preliminary indicators are that this will benefit the mobile developers to follow the development process within MADLC to build robust and optimal control applications. In this research, Mobile application Development Lifecycle (MADLC) has been proposed to bring out a formalized lifecycle procedure, which will aid the mobile application developers in developing high-end apps. This lifecycle includes the following phases: Identification, Design, Development, Prototyping, Testing, Deployment and Maintenance. Lifecycle phases in MADLC have been discussed which consists of different tasks and activities that takes place during the process. Following MADLC in a mobile application developed provides a preliminary indicator that this will not only help the developers in planning their tasks well ahead, but also, the project manager will be able to plan its Project Life Cycle activities in a very efficient manner delivering the mobile business solutions on time. The primary focus of this paper is to outline the evolution of mobile technologies and the adoption of these technologies in the IT industry. The paper explores how mobile is used and how it impacts our daily lives. Mobile technology has evolved over a decade, and with smart devices, its applicability and usage has increased drastically, for both personal and business use. Mobile provides increasingly fast access to back-end data sources. The Cloud Computing Environment (CCE) enhances the capabilities of mobile environments, while promoting innovation for next generation mobile technologies. CCE also provides analytics, elastic and scalable environments, secure composable mobile services, rapid application development, and deployment with reduced resources and lower operational costs. With these advanced capabilities, stakeholders are looking for mobile applications that are born on the Cloud. In addition, this paper also describes the challenges a data center could face when implementing a secure mobile infrastructure in a CCE, with lessons learned from actual case studies.
