This research work introduces a new system that utilizes Generative Pretrained Transformer (GPT) Large Language Models (LLMs) to enable language-based control for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). The system enables nonexpert users to easily control UAVs using natural language. It integrates GPT-4o-mini model with the widely used open-source ArduPilot Software. The developed system supports both audio and written inputs and accommodates multiple languages. The LLM reasons about the request and generates the required functionality. OpenAI's API (application programming Interface) and Function Calling are used to implement the task.

In this paper, the authors introduce an innovative methodology for automating backend code optimization, triggered from the frontend of a web application and powered by advanced generative AI models. The proposed system integrates the *** and Laravel frameworks, together with a PHP (Hypertext preprocessor) Parser and the OpenAI API (application programming interface), enabling dynamic, real-time optimization without necessitating system downtime. In contrast to conventional approaches that rely on offline environments or CI/CD (Continuous integration and continuous deployment) pipelines, this methodology facilitates continuous performance enhancement during active usage of web application. An experimental evaluation involving 20 functions within a Laravel application demonstrated a 70% optimization success rate, a 62.6% reduction in execution time and an 18.18% decrease in code lines. This approach preserves semantic consistency and provides reports to developers for further implementation. By reducing errors and enabling ongoing refinements, the work makes a significant contribution to the field of web application development.

Balancing Risks and Opportunities: Data-Empowered-Health Ecosystems

This viewpoint paper addresses the ongoing challenges and opportunities within the data-for-health ecosystem, drawing insights from a multistakeholder workshop. Despite notable progress in the digitization of health care systems, data sharing and interoperability remain limited, so the full potential of health care data is not realized. There is a critical need for data ecosystems that can enable the timely, safe, efficient, and sustainable collection and sharing of health care data. However, efforts to meet this need face risks related to privacy, data protection, security, democratic governance, and exclusion. Key challenges include poor interoperability, inconsistent approaches to data governance, and concerns about the commodification of data. While emerging platforms such as social media play a growing role in gathering and sharing health information, their integration into formal data systems remains limited. A robust and secure data-for-health ecosystem requires stronger frameworks for data governance, interoperability, and citizen engagement to build public trust. This paper argues that reframing health care data as a common good, improving the transparency of data acquisition and processing, and promoting the use of application programming interfaces (APIs) for real-time data access are essential to overcoming these challenges. In addition, it highlights the need for international norms and standards guided by multisector leadership, given the multinational nature of data sharing. Ultimately, this paper emphasizes the need to balance risks and opportunities to create a socially acceptable, secure, and effective data-sharing ecosystem in health care.

SEHGN: Semantic-Enhanced Heterogeneous Graph Network for Web API Recommendation

With the growth of cloud computing, a large number of innovative mashup applications and Web APIs have emerged on the Internet. The expansion of technology and information presents a significant challenge to the discovery of Web APIs from multiple service ecosystems. Various Web API recommendation methods have been proposed for Mashup creation, but most either treat different feature factor interactions equally or solely rely on requirements for API recommendation. These approaches face several challenges such as API compatibility dependencies, ambiguous definition and boundary dilemmas of APIs, and sparse API invocation records. In this work, we propose a Semantic-Enhanced Heterogeneous Graph Network(SEHGN) for Mashup creation. To address the above deficiencies, we design a multi-semantic aggregator to capture semantic associations between features to encode multiple node-edge relationships. Then, we introduce a semantic embedding component to generate text embedding vectors for mashups and APIs to learn global and local semantic information about text documents at different levels of abstraction. Finally, we fuse the output vectors to obtain a list of candidate Web APIs. Experiences are performed on real datasets, and statistical results show that SEHGN outperforms state-of-the-art models in terms of overall and long-tail Web API recommendations.

Malaria epidemicity of Mewat region, District Gurgaon, Haryana, India: a GIS-based study

A GIS-based study was initiated in Mewat region, District Gurgaon, Haryana, an integral part of traditionally known malaria epidemic belt of the Northwestern Plains of India. The study included (i) delineation of malaria paradigms at macro level;(ii) identification of eco-epidemiological characteristics of each paradigm, and (iii) identification of the paradigm receptivity for malaria. Using RS and GIS, the five easily recognizable malaria paradigms, namely irrigation command, catchment/non-catchment, mining, urban and flood-prone areas, were mapped. Each paradigm exhibited its own eco-epidemiological characteristics and potential for maintaining malaria transmission of varying intensity. Paradigm-wise receptivity revealed that during 1996, an epidemic year, different paradigms responded differently. Although all paradigms showed upward trend, maximum amplification occurred in urban/semi-urban paradigms. During 1993 and 1998, i.e. in the last two inter-epidemic periods, flood-prone paradigm, irrigation command area II and non-catchment area continued to retain active pockets of malaria, namely Akera and Malab sections in Nuh block;Uleta and Kankar Kheri in Nagina block;Biwan in Ferozpur Jhirka block;Punhana, Hathan gaon, Sunhera and Tirwara in Punhana block. With the current inter-epidemic period starting from 1998 onwards, any ecological change in the scenario influencing the above three paradigms favourably, may flare up malaria cases from hot pockets. Therefore there is a need to strengthen surveillance in these areas and pay special attention to these pockets.

ANARI: A 3-D Rendering API Standard

ANARI is a new 3-D rendering API, an emerging Khronos standard that enables visualization applications to leverage the state-of-the-art rendering techniques across diverse hardware platforms and rendering engines. Visualization applications have historically embedded custom-written renderers to enable them to provide the necessary combination of features, performance, and visual fidelity required by their users. As computing power, rendering algorithms, dedicated rendering hardware acceleration operations, and associated low-level APIs have advanced, the effort and costs associated with maintaining renderers within visualization applications have risen dramatically. The rising cost and complexity associated with renderer development creates an undesirable barrier for visualization applications to be able to fully benefit from the latest rendering methods and hardware. ANARI directly addresses these challenges by providing a high-level, visualization-oriented API that abstracts low-level rendering algorithms and hardware acceleration details while providing easy and efficient access to diverse ANARI implementations, thereby enabling visualization applications to support the state of the art rendering capabilities.

Automating the Development of High-Performance Multigrid Solvers

The purpose of a domain-specific language (DSL) is to enable the application programmer to specify a problem, or an abstract algorithm description, in his/her domain of expertise without being burdened by implementation details. The ideal scenario is that the implementation detail is added in an automatic process of program translation and code generation. The approach of domain-specific program generation has lately received increasing attention in the area of computational science and engineering. In this paper, we introduce the new code generation framework Athariac. Its goal is to support the quick implementation of a language processing and program optimization platform for a given DSL based on stepwise term rewriting. We demonstrate the framework's use on our DSL ExaSlang for the specification and optimization of multigrid solvers. On this example, we provide evidence of Athariac's potential for making domain-specific software engineering more productive.

Since its first release in 2016, the Cambridge Structural Database Python application programming interface (CSD Python API) has seen steady uptake within the community that the Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre serves. This article reviews the history of scripting interfaces, demonstrating the need, and then briefly outlines the technical structure of the API. It describes the reach of the CSD Python API, provides a selected review of its impact and gives some illustrative examples of what scientists can do with it. The article concludes with speculation as to how such endeavours will evolve over the next decade.

Prediction of Sulfur Content, API Gravity, and Viscosity Using a Continuous Mixture Kinetic Model for Maya Crude Oil Hydrocracking in a Slurry-Phase Reactor

A continuous mixture kinetic model was applied to describe the hydrocracking reactions of Maya crude oil in a slurry-phase reactor. Besides the prediction of simulated distillation curves, complementary models were developed to predict American Petroleum Institute (API) gravity, viscosity, and total sulfur content as the reaction proceeds. Experiments were carried out in a batch-type reactor under 800 psig of hydrogen and 400 degrees C at several reaction times. Powder ammonium heptamolybdate (1000 ppm Mo) was added and activated in situ. Vacuum residue (VR) conversion reached 88 and 96% after 7.5 and 24 h of reaction, respectively. The formation of liquid products (bp < 538 degrees C) was maximum and fairly constant (65-66 wt %) for VR conversions from 37 to 88%. Feed and liquid reaction products were characterized by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Total sulfur, viscosity, and API gravity were also measured. The mathematical model accurately describes TGA distillation curves for VR conversions up to 88%, and the developed models for the calculation of sulfur content, viscosity, and API gravity predict with good accuracy the values of these properties.

Predicting petroleum gravity with basin modeling: New kinetic models

Oil API gravity predictions using published basin modeling source rock (SR) reaction kinetics have displayed poor matches between modeled output and field observations because these kinetic models do not predict increasing API gravities with increasing maturity. Ideally, an SR kinetic model should use at least two liquid components of different densities, which are generated and expelled from the SR such that the API gravities are a consequence of relative mixing. Very few available kinetic models predict APIs with reasonable trends, but those are either not adjustable to calibrate to field observations or do not consider sorption, which is a necessary process when evaluating unconventional resources. Five new kinetics data sets are presented in this paper, each representing a standard SR type, which provide geologically reasonable API gravity trends and ranges. Each kinetic model uses two liquid pseudocomponents and two vapor pseudocomponents. The relative ratios between the pseudocomponents at full kerogen transformation are average ratios available from public and proprietary kinetic data sets. The primary generation follows published activation energies, including minor shifts, which allow peak generation to occur at lower activation energies for the heavier liquid pseudocomponent and at higher energies for the lighter one. This systematic shift of activation energies thus results in a constant change in API gravity as primary generation progresses. Additional in-SR sorption and secondary cracking schemes support the primary generated API gravity trends. The default ranges of API gravity for the new five kinetic models represent observed averages but can be adjusted easily.
