This paper reports on a field test with 23 Volvo D12C non-exhaust gas recirculation diesel engines using the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), and urea system with Ultra-Low-Sulfur-Diesel (ULSD). This combination will be used to meet the on-highway emission standards for U.S. 2010, Japan 2010, and Europe 2013. Because of future widespread use of DPF-SCR, this study reports on our field experience with this system, and focuses on enhancing our understanding of the incombustible materials which are collected in the DPF with API CJ-4 and API CI-4 PLUS oils. The average weight of incombustibles was lower in the trucks using API CJ-4 oils at 1.0% sulfated ash, than in those using API CI-4 PLUS oils at 1.4% sulfated ash. The difference in weight between the two groups was highly significant. Further, the weight of the incombustibles per kilometer substantially decreased with each subsequent cleaning within a truck. The gray powder of incombustible materials recovered from the DPF is dominated by inorganic lubricant additives-Ca, Mg, P, S, Zn, and Mo. Calcium sulfate, zinc magnesium phosphate and zinc pyrophosphate were identified. These materials accounted for more than 90% of the materials from the DPF. Wear metals and a small amount of carbon were also identified, and made up the material unaccounted for by the lube oil inorganics. The particle size distribution of the incombustibles is bimodal, with a large number of particles at 0.4 microns and the remaining at 10 microns. Particles at 0.4 microns present inhalation and irritation health risk, and so exposure to incombustible trap ash should be minimized. The DPF-SCR system provided excellent durability and reliability during this five year field test. Both API CJ-4 and API CI-4 PLUS oils demonstrated equal wear, viscosity control, and oil drain capability based on used oil analysis.

The article investigates the importance of personal names in conveying information about a character's identity and role in ancient Egyptian fiction. Particular attention is paid to the names 'Naneferkaptah,' 'Ihweret,' and 'Tabubue,' as the principal antagonists of Setne Khaemwas in 'First Tale of the Setne Khaemwas,' an early-Ptolemaic Demotic. The female characters Ihwert and Tabubue are discussed as reflections of two different aspects of the goddess Isis. The name of Naneferkaptah is linked to the divine bull Apis.

The Applicability of IHL in Mixed Situations of Disaster and Conflict

There is an increasing number of natural and human-made disasters. There has also been increasing attention given to international disaster response laws. In a recently published study, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies stated that in mixed situations of disaster and conflict, international humanitarian law will prevail with international disaster response law instruments varying in their applicability. This paper examines whether in fact international humanitarian law is sufficient to deal with mixed situations, in particular, with relief efforts. The author concludes that international humanitarian law is useful as a basis, but other areas of law are essential in filling the gaps, particularly international disaster response laws. As such, the author believes emerging international disaster response law instruments should be encouraged to have a broad scope whereby these instruments include mixed situations too.

Trusted Platform Module (TPM) provides the cryptographic functions through the application programming interfaces (APIs). The specification of APIs reflects the security policies of the designers, in order to manage and protect the sensitive information of users, which is stored in the hardware module. But the security of these APIs has not guaranteed. In this paper, a formal model to describe the APIs based on the specification is proposed;based on the model, the attacker ability and the system security target are defined. In order to find the API-chain attack automatically, a formal method based on resolution principle and theorem proving is presented, and the method takes in practical using an automata theorem prover Otter;a mechanism of executability determination is also integrated in the method to alleviate state space explosion problem to some extent, and the state of TPM can be guaranteed The proposed theory and method are then applied in the Key Migration Module of TPM APIs to show the feasibility of this method.

The use of RESTful Web services has gained momentum in the development of distributed applications based on traditional Web standards such as HTTP. In particular, these services can integrate easily into various applications, such as mashups. Composing RESTful services into Web-scale workflows requires a lightweight composition language that's capable of describing both the control and data flow that constitute a workflow. The authors address these issues with Bite, a lightweight and extensible composition language that enables the creation of Web-scale workflows and uses RESTful services as its main composable entities.

Pulsar: A resource-control architecture for time-critical service-oriented applications

The complexity of real-time systems is growing extremely rapidly, as they move from isolated devices to multilevel networked systems. Traditional methodologies for developing and managing these systems are not scaling to meet the requirements of a new generation of distributed applications. While developers of complex real-time applications are looking to service-oriented architecture to address their needs for ease of development and flexibility of integration, current software infrastructures for service-oriented applications do not address the issue of predictable latency for the applications they host. in this paper, we present Pulsar, a resource-control architecture for managing the end-to-end latency of a set of distributed, time-critical applications. The primary entity of Pulsar is called a controller, which regulates an aspect of resource allocation or scheduling policy. Controllers utilize policy configurations, which may include latency targets to be achieved or resource allocations to be honored, and interact with resource allocators and schedulers (e.g., thread schedulers, memory allocators, or bandwidth reservation mechanisms) to effect local policy. Controllers also provide feedback on how well they are executing a policy. Pulsar includes an application model which captures resource-sensitive behavior and requirements and is independent of high-level programming models and application programming interfaces.

CONSTRUCTION OF A COMPLEMENTARY DNA LIBRARY OF PARELAPHOSTRONGYLUS TENUIS AND IDENTIFICATION OF A POTENTIALLY SERO-DIAGNOSTIC RECOMBINANT ANTIGEN

Newly developed serological tests for diagnosing parelaphostrongylosis in cervids, using the excretory-secretory products (ES) of the infective larvae of larvae of Parelaphostrongylus enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs), demonstrable Superiority over the traditional method of, larval recovery and microscopic identification. To generate a source of ELISA antigen by genetic engineering. we created it complementary DNA (cDNA) expression library by the reverse transcription of mRNA of P. tenuis adult worms and by ligation with the vector lambda-ZAP II. The library was screened using antisera produced in mice by immunization with a somatic antigen preparation of adult worms. Seventeen clones were isolated, sequenced, and checked for similarity to other DNA sequences in GenBank. A Previously identified parasite gene encoding an asparlyl protease inhibitor (API) was isolated front the cDNA library, subcloned and expressed using the pET expression vector to produce a glutathione S transferase (GSTI-His-S-tag-P. tenuis API fusion Protein (molecular weight = 63 kDa). An ELISA utilizing the API fusion protein as the coating antigen was used to serologically diagnose all white-tailed deer (WTD, Odocoileus virginianus 10 out of 10) that had been inoculated with a range of 6-150 L3 P. tenuis, indicating that the antigen may be useful serodiagnostic antigen for P. tenuis infection in this cervid species.

In most web mashup applications, the content is generated using either web feeds or an application programming interface (API) based on web services. Both approaches have limitations. Data models provided by web feeds are not powerful enough to permit complex data structures to be transmitted. APIs based on web services are usually different for each web application, and thus different implementations of the APIs are required for each web service that a web mashup application uses. We propose a database-driven approach to web mashups that supports integration at the database level and enables mashup developers to work with a uniform abstract model and have direct access to powerful features of database systems. We describe how we have implemented this approach based on an object-oriented database system with a rich object model and a generic proxy mechanism for data integration and synchronisation.

Three dimensional (3D) visualization is a very popular topic in the medical community. Many techniques and procedures have been proposed and discussed to further improve this revolutionary medical imaging method. While resources regarding this matter are redundant, they are often scattered and only cover a specific part of the 3D visualization process. In this study, our goal is to compile these resources and provide an in-depth step by step technique on how 3D visualization may be achieved. This ranges from introducing marching cubes algorithm, the purpose of which is to extract the isosurface from the 3D data-set and the use of 3D mesh reconstruction by applying lighting, transparency and shading using open graphics library (OpenGL) application programming interface (API). Eventually, a graphical user interface (GUI) environment is implemented using fast light toolkit (FLTK). In addition to that, user interface such as rotation and zooming of the 3D model is shown to provide the basic needs in virtual reality environment. The source code is written in C++ language. Results are then demonstrated by showing the final snapshots of the application.
