During the pandemic period, we were forced to reconsider teaching of practical labs, as students had mainly to work at home. It was the occasion to explore the use of cheap microcontroller kits for teaching chemistry and to work out some manipulations with household products. Back to normal life, it is important to valorize this equipment and work to design simple chemistry experiments which could be performed by students at home with arduino kits adapted to chemistry, to illustrate various courses in addition to classical manipulations performed in the laboratory with specific equipment and products. We describe here the construction of a simple and cheap arduino-based fluorimeter and its use to study relative porphyrinoids (mainly chlorophylls and pheophytins) contents in olive oils, and the effect of heating on the degradation of such substances. We used an arduino Uno kit with a LED, a light-to-frequency converter associated with an excitation-blocking filter, and a 3D-printed sample holder.

Recently, Visible Light Positioning (VLP) has emerged as a promising technology for indoor positioning applications. While GPS is a reliable technology for outdoor navigation, its limitations become apparent in indoor environments. These include buildings with multiple floors and numerous departments, such as hospitals and warehouses. There, it can be very useful to know the position of humans or particular objects and find them immediately, whenever needed. Thus, we need accurate indoor positioning, which might be realized using different technologies. VLP system uses existing lighting infrastructure and can offer a high level of accuracy. To this aim, we developed a novel and simplified system that exploits amplitude-modulated light signals from standard Light Emitting Diode (LED) lamps normally used for room illumination, along with an affordable arduino microcontroller for processing and extracting the position information from the optical signal. The results indicate a good accuracy with very limited requirements in terms of equipment. The proposed solution is very attractive because its implementation is based on commercial lamps and simple processing.

We provide a technical report on designing an arduino-based wireless spectrometer using an old spectrometer. The designed spectrometer is environmentally friendly and cost-effective and can be used in physical and analytical laboratories. The arduino-based wireless spectrometer enables students to understand the fundamental theory of spectroscopy and wireless communication among instruments. The rotating motions of the mirror and grating turret inside the spectrometer are controlled by a pre-written source code based on the arduino program. This procedure can give an insight into spectroscopic analysis and telecommunication skills using computer-based software. Using our customized spectrometer, we measure Raman spectra from a silicon wafer, 4-nitrobenzenethiol, and rhodamine 6G, which serve as representative Raman probe molecules. From our results, we conclude that our approach provides intuitions for wide applications of arduino-based chemical instruments.

This paper presents a novel programming approach for arduino boards, utilizing tables within a spreadsheet environment. This method automatically generates over 80% of the code in a typical application, simplifying programming, facilitating debugging and presenting an easier learning curve, especially for non-electronics and computer science engineers. WIDE supports defining analog and digital pins, logical variables, state description, state flow, printing, menu, Infrared communication, Bluetooth, RS485 communication, and storing variables in EEPROM using tables that are easy to fill, modify and troubleshoot. The automatically generated code is collected into one worksheet and then copied to the arduino IDE for compilation and downloading. This method has been successfully applied to various projects, allowing more time to be spent on problem-solving rather than the mechanics of code writing.

The current organizational methods employed in storage facilities and stores are predominantly manual, lacking proper systematic management, particularly in convenience stores where inventory management is often disorganized. The absence of categorization and a systematic approach complicates inventory tracking, leading to unreliability and significant manual labor each time an item needs to be checked or restocked. This challenge is also observed in courier service storage facilities, delivery trucks, and hubs, resulting in a high incidence of missing parcels due to inadequate management. To address these inefficiencies, this research aims to develop an inventory management system that reduces manual labor by implementing arduino microcontroller technology, NFC stickers/tags, and NFC modules. Additionally, the system leverages PLX-DAQ add-ins to seamlessly export data from the microcontroller into Microsoft Excel, facilitating real-time inventory updates and management. By achieving these objectives, it can save time and labor power, significantly improving the reliability and efficiency of inventory management in both convenience stores and courier service facilities.

Mechatronics is a branch of engineering which combines many fields of mechanics and electronics. This work will explain one of those examples of mechatronics systems, and that is the vending machine. An example of mechanics in this work is a conversion of rotational movement to translation movement via a helicoil spring which rotates with the help of the step motor and uses the potential energy of the coin when sorting in the money mechanism, and the examples of electronics are electronic components such as step motor, arduino microcontroller, push buttons etc. The machine works by inserting a certain amount of money through the opening intended for it which the sensors will read and print on screen the amount of money that is currently in the machine. If the condition is fulfilled, that is if the machine has enough money we need for the product, by pressing the push button, which is positioned in respect to the product position in the vending machine, the machine will dispense the required product. This work will also show the schematic representation of connecting electronic components and the very construction and assembly of the vending machine.

This research work introduces an integrated design of a solar and wind based hybrid system controlled and coordinated by arduino. One of the primary needs for socioeconomic development of any nation is the reliability of electrical supply systems. The proposed control coordination methodology governs the reliability of the hybrid electric supply system. The proposed controller compares the load power and integrated hybrid power at any instant and depending on it, arduino controller generates the status and control signals. If the generated hybrid power is more than the required load power, then the integrated hybrid power system supplies the entire power to the load. If the generated hybrid power is less than the required load power, then the integrated hybrid power system along with the utility grid supplies the required power to the load. Depending on the Status of Charging, the battery charges and discharges. The boost converter boosts the voltage from Solar, wind and battery system to the required level. Then a single-phase inverter converts the boosted voltage and supplies to the load system. The hybrid system is then synchronized and coordinated to meet the load requirement. A hardware prototype is built to realize the experimental results of different control coordination strategies.

This paper explores the realm of home automation, focusing on the development and implementation of a sophisticated system leveraging Internet of Things (IoT) technology. The core of the proposed system revolves around the arduino Nano board, showcasing its adaptability and versatility. A DHT11 sensor is utilized to actively collect current information on temperature and humidity, and a MQ2 sensor is deployed to monitor kitchen gas leaks with an arduino microcontroller processing this data. The continuously refreshed data is subsequently sent to an Android mobile app through the Zigbee protocol. By 2030, there will be 500 billion devices with sensors and an Internet connection. The Internet of Things is the name of the network that links these gadgets together for data transport (IoT). In order to rapidly exchange medical information to connect people, resources, and organizations we have proposed paper using an IoT for Patient Health Monitoring (PHMS). For almost medical equipment having an internet connection and the capacity to track at least one patient's health parameter, including blood pressure, body temperature, heart rate, ECG, steps taken, etc. We made a prototype that carries out different procedures for example, if the patient's temperature rises above 38 degrees Celsius, it will send messages to the doctor that there is a patient who needs special care. The arduino IDE 2.x processes the data produced by the sensors. The feedback was extremely favorable and supportive of the efficacy of monitoring patient health by the use of arduino IDE 2.x.

To address the issue of manually placing plug-seedlings into the seedling feeding mechanism in current pepper transplanting machines, and considering the high cost of electromechanical systems, this paper presents a design for an automatic plug-seedling feeding and plug-seedling cell feeding system based on arduino. The system employs three stepper motors and thirteen cylinders working in coordination to achieve automatic plug-seedling transportation and synchronized plug-seedling cell feeding. Using the arduino IDE, a control program was developed, and an electrical control system was constructed, followed by plug-seedling delivery experiments. The experimental results indicate that when the plug-seedling carrier is inclined at 35 degrees, the delivery success rate reaches 93.74%. The system is reliable and stable, offering new ideas for future automation control.
