In this paper, an advanced radiation detecting rover system operated by a microcontroller is developed. It is well known that radiation related disasters can devastate a region by preventing humans from safely staying in these areas for long periods of time. Therefore, the use of unmanned rovers can help people recover information from inside these areas. The developed radiation detecting rover system contains a microcontroller, a rover, a Geiger counter, a camera, an LCD screen, and Xbee modems. The rover can travel through highly radiated areas via remote control while detecting radiation, returning information on radiation levels, and observing what is located in the area. At the same time, an arduino microcontroller operates the rover in order to maneuver and analyze information received by the video camera and the Geiger counter. In addition to developing and testing the system, the research methodology and design is summarized and future improvements are discussed.

In this study, arduino microcontroller based traffic signalization automation system that is remote manageable with a web service is presented for duration scheduling of traffic signal lights. In this realized system, it will be possible to adjust the light durations dynamically over the internet. Thus, during sudden moments of intervention, a great convenience and speed will be ensured for updating the durations of the lights. In the study, a prototype is designed on the breadboard and the results are observed on this prototype. Furthermore, users can be able to control the traffic signals through the internet by the designed interface applications. Therefore, significant gains are predicted for the traffic signalization systems in terms of time and financial costs.

This paper presents a wireless sensing technology using Zigbee communication cell for the monitoring of some physical quantities such as temperature, humidity, current, voltage. The aim of this study is to collect the measurements of the above quantities in unsafe locations. In this project eight communications circuits (zigbees), different sensors and transducers, Liquid Crystal Displays, and a Beagle Bone Black and arduino controller are used. The features of this design are low cost, low power consumption, easy to be used, the obtained results are accurate and the monitoring range of distance can be increased by choosing the type of zigbee cells. The arduino controller, and beagle Bone black (B.B.B) minicomputer used. The software's used for the project (C language) for programming the arduino controller (XCTU) for programming the zigbee cells, and the (JAVA Script) for programming the beagle bone black (B.B.B) minicomputer.

The purpose of this costume is to protect people (elderly people, sick or with locomotion problems, children, etc.) who can hurt themselves by falling on the ground. This paper proposes an android-based elderly support system as an alternative way for existing care homes or health care centers. The aims of the study are to monitor the users based on their location via GPS tracking method and detect the user's heart rate using a portable pulse sensor. This project can be divided into two parts;development of android application and hardware implementation. Android application is developed to integrate a caretaker subsystem with the controller. A caretaker subsystem acts as an admin of the system which responsible for monitoring the users. Hardware implementation involves construction of a prototype equipped with arduino microcontroller, Global Positioning System (GPS) module, Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) modem, Bluetooth module and power supply unit. A set of data collection is analyzed to evaluate the consistency of the heartbeat monitoring function. The proposed project offers a portable day care service for elderly people via android smart phone in a low cost manner.

Moreover, a message could be sent to know more specific details like the temperature of the boiler, AC, etc. The main purpose of this system is to adapt with the private electricity subscription issue that almost all the Lebanese citizens are using to cope with the long electricity current cut off periods. However, the difference in payment rates between the normal current and that of the subscriber is always making a big concern over electricity consumption. Hence, the system will help users to minimize their payments for electricity usage by informing them if the current is on or off so they can control their appliances accordingly.

The design and construction of the working prototype of a device to measure the magnetic field induced by a conducting wire as well as the current that induces this field, based on the magneto-optical Faraday effect, is described in this work. The transducer element is a nanocomposite material made up of maghemite nanoparticles embedded in a porous silica matrix, with a high low-field Verdet constant and a figure of merit, relating Faraday specific rotation to the absorption coefficient, of 5. The device has been mostly developed with low-cost parts, using the open-source prototyping platform arduino plus a compact commercial lock-in amplifier. It is shown that the sensing material shows a linear response up to 30 G, which would allow measuring AC currents of 1300 A at similar to 10 cm from the wire. This setup allows avoiding the use of any magnetic field concentrator. (C) 2016 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

This paper proposes a speech-control vehicle that can be operated in manufacturing line. The aim of the study is to recognize user's voice using speech recognition method for remotely controlling the movement of operating vehicle based on user's command. This project can be divided into two parts;development of android application and hardware implementation. Android application is developed to integrate the speech recognition technique in android smart phone with the controller. Hardware implementation involves construction of a prototype vehicle equipped with DC motor, motor driver, Bluetooth module, arduino microcontroller and power supply unit. A set of data collection for voice command is analyzed to evaluate the accuracy of the speech recognition method. Result suggests the projection of command with clear and strong voice offers higher accuracy in providing a set of viable commands to the operating vehicle.
