Over the past few decades, considerable attention has been given to structural control systems to mitigate structural vibration under natural hazards such as earthquakes and extreme weather conditions. Traditional wired structural control systems often employ a large amount of cables for communication among sensors, controllers and actuators. In such systems, implementation of wired sensors is usually quite complicated and expensive, especially on large scale structures such as bridges and buildings. To reduce the laborious installation and maintenance cost, wireless control systems (WCSs) are considered as a novel approach for structural vibration control. In this work, a WCS is developed based on the open source arduino platform. Low cost, low power wireless sensing and communication components are built on the arduino platform. Structural control algorithms are embedded within the wireless sensor board for feedback control. The developed WCS is first validated through a series of tests. Next, numerical simulations are performed simulating wireless control of a 3-story shear structure equipped with a semi-active control device (MR damper). Finally, experimental studies are carried out implementing the WCS on the 3-story shear structure in the Intelligent Infrastructure Systems Lab (IISL). A hydraulic shake table is used to generate seismic ground motions. The control performance is evaluated with the impact of modeling uncertainties, measurement noises as well as time delay and data loss induced by the wireless network. The developed WCS is shown to be effective in controlling structural vibrations under several historical earthquake ground motions.

Olfaction, according to modern research, has not yet been classified based on its known properties. Unlike the sense of taste and sight, the sense of smell does not have any known dimensions of category. Modern technologies of Electronic nose (E-nose) systems were used in analyzing smells. This study aimed to categorize different clusters of smell and differentiate their levels of reaction to an E-nose system comprising of different sensors. MQ - Metal-Oxide semiconductor gas sensors were used coupled with artificial neural network (ANN) using MATLAB to evaluate the systems capability of discrimination. Interfacing was done using arduino microcontroller for communication. MQ5 Gas sensor gave the most variance. This result confirmed that the system's ability to be used in future applications was suggested.

Therefore, we have researched on the Human Machine Interaction using Physical Human Body Gestures and came up to proposed solution of the said issue as Low Cost Retina Controlled Computer Using Head mount and Wrist Tilt for Persons who are Paralyzed and cannot be able to move their hands and even they can't able to walk. Conventionally, we named it as simple as Retina Controlled Computer, is based on Google Glass vision using motion recognition, Zigbee Wireless Technology, Retina Controlled Device that allows human beings with paralysis resulting from Paralysis to do everything on computer even controlling the personal mobile phone using only their Eye and Head movements. This whole project will be based mainly on the new technology of Low Cost Wireless Zigbee Sensors, arduino microcontrollers, and motion and retina recognition using Accelerometer. arduino microcontroller consists of an open-source hardware board designed around an 8-bit Atmel AVR microcontroller, or a 32-bit Atmel ARM. Therefore, making an Intelligent Low Cost Eye Controlled Computer, based on new technologies will play a vital role in revolutionizing the field of Biomedical engineering and opening the new horizons of research. The purpose of this paper is to present a low cost and real time solution to enable differently abled people navigate their wheelchair independently through movement of eyes. We accomplished this task by capturing frames of eyeball movement via a web cam which is temporarily mounted on cap. The camera would be mounted on the arm of the wheel chair for ease and comfort. Processing of the eyeball movement is performed on MATLAB environment by employing Voila-Jones algorithm. MATLAB communicates with arduino micro controller using serial communication. arduino relays the control signal to L293D (half H bridge motor driver), which in turn generates signal for movement of the differential drive (dummy wheelchair). Pulse width modulation guarantees the smooth motion of the drive to avoid jerks and lurches.

This paper illustrates the design and development of a theft control system for security lockers, homes, bank lockers, jewelry outlets, etc. The proposed system consists of an LDR (Light Dependent Resistor) based sensor which acts as an electronic eye for detecting the theft or attempt, and a signaling procedure based on SMS using GSM (Global Systems for Mobile communications) technology. The GSM based communication helps the owner and concerned authorities to take necessary and timely action in order to prevent the theft. The LDR circuit is interfaced using a relay circuit with an arduino microcontroller board. Efficacy of the proposed system can be seen in its immediate intimation regarding the incident. The proposed designed system is very effective and inexpensive.

In this paper, we propose an improvement of our previous work in this field by developing a heart rate, body temperature and blood pressure monitor system based on new arduino Mega micro-system device. It offers the advantage of portability over old embedded system (tape-based recording systems). The paper focus on: how we implemented algorithms to analyze heart beat rate signals in real-time, how to fusion data of different sensors mainly here temperature and blood pressure and to transmit the data via radio frequency (Xbee module). Then explain a web server application for healthcare givers to access the data. In addition, it allows doctors to get the heart beat rate file of the patient by email every twenty four hours. It can also be used to control patients or athletic person over a long period. The system reads, stores and analyses the heart beat rate signals, body temperature repetitively in real-time. The hardware and software design are oriented towards a single-chip microcontroller-based system, hence minimizing the size. The important features of this paper are the implementation of extremums and energy in the algorithm to compute patient heart rate and detect any anomaly within the P wav in ECG signal.
