Implementation of microcontroller board on a sustainable and degradable PLA/flax composite substrate: a case study

In this paper, we present a novel polylactic-acid/flax-composite substrate and the implementation of a demonstrator: a microcontroller board based on commercial design. The substrate is developed for printed circuit board (PCB) applications. The pre-preg is biodegradable, reinforced, and flame-retarded. The novel material was developed to counter the increasing amount of e-waste and to improve the sustainability of the microelectronics sector. The motivation was to present a working circuit in commercial complexity that can be implemented on a rigid substrate made of natural, bio-based materials with a structure very similar to the widely used Flame Retardant Class 4 (FR4) substrate at an early technological readiness level (2-3). The circuit design is based on the arduino nano open-source microcontroller board design so that the demonstration could be programmable and easy to fit into education, IoT applications, and embedded designs. During the work, the design was optimized at the level of layout. The copper-clad pre-preg was then prepared and processed with subtractive printed wiring technology and through hole plating. The traditional surface mounting methodology was applied for assembly. The resulting yield of PCB production was around 50%. Signal analysis was successful with analogue data acquisition (voltage) and low-frequency (4 kHz) tests, indistinguishable from sample FR4 boards. Eventually, the samples were subjected to highly accelerated stress test (HAST). HAST tests revealed limitations compared to traditional FR4 printed circuit materials. After six cycles, the weight loss was around 30% in the case of PLA/Flax, and as three-point bending tests showed, the possible ultimate strength (25 MPa at a flexural state) was reduced by 80%. Finally, the sustainability aspect was assessed, where we found that similar to 95 vol% and similar to 90 wt% of the traditional substrate can be substituted, significantly easing the load of waste on the environment.

In this work, a hardware model of solar photovoltaic system-based water filter is designed to support the Qatrah program of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. A solar photovoltaic system provides active energy to charge the battery of 24 Volt via dc to dc boost converter (step-up converter) and battery energy is used to run the dc pump of water filter in remote areas. A boost converter increases the input voltage level of solar panel upto 25 Volt fix to run the dc motor of solar pump and at same time it charges the batteries in sun light. The boost converter switch is pulsed at maximum output power of solar. It is extracted using maximum power point tracking (MPPT) system. An arduino nano microcontroller is used to extract the pulse of dc to dc boost converter at MPPT of solar photovoltaic system.

It is known that the power consumption and efficiency of an equipment owes directly to its power *** lower the power factor of the equipment the more the energy consumption of such equipment and ***,the need to develop an equipment to measure accurately the operating power factor of domestic and industrial equipment and appliances[1].The operating principle of this power factor meter design is based on Zero Crossing detection principle,the principle is utilized using arduino nano,instrument transformers,LM324 operational amplifier,generic resistor,generic XOR Gate 7488 and *** input current and voltage signal is taken by the transformers and sent to the op-amp which carries out the zero crossing detection in order to get the time difference after which the microcontroller does the calculation to determine the power factor and the deficit reactive power which is then displayed on an interface[2].

Energy monitoring and conservation holds prime importance in today's world because of the imbalance between power generation and demand. The current scenario says that the power generated, which is primarily contributed by fossil fuels may get exhausted within the next 20 years. Currently, there are very accurate electronic energy monitoring systems available in the market. Most of these monitor the power consumed in a domestic household, in case of residential applications. Many a times, consumers are dissatisfied with the power bill as it does not show the power consumed at the device level. This paper presents the design and implementation of an energy meter using arduino microcontroller which can be used to measure the power consumed by any individual electrical appliance. Internet of Things (IoT) is an emerging field and IoT based devices have created a revolution in electronics and IT. The main intention of the proposed energy meter is to monitor the power consumption at the device level, upload it to the server and establish remote control of any appliance. The energy monitoring system precisely calculates the power consumed by various electrical devices and displays it through a home energy monitoring website. The advantage of this device is that a user can understand the power consumed by any electrical appliance from the website and can take further steps to control them and thus help in energy conservation. Further on, the users can monitor the power consumption as well as the bill on daily basis.

Latest technology demands good design matric. Digital counter is one of the fair product use to counting purpose. In military domain need to maintain various logbook to maintain firing round and magazine. As results need of smart electronic tools to help out in better performance of weapons. Working life, maintenance, soldier shooting training performance, information relating weapons is major issue can solve with smart counter. Position sensor used to sensing redundant event of weapon. So, arduino is best IDE to develop a hardware plus firmware for counting the number of round fired of ballistics projectiles. The armaments like rifle, gun and big cannons require to count the number of round fire and process the data for various analytical purpose. The proposed work will design and develop a round counter, which can display remaining round in magazine with less power and memory consumption.

Atrial Fibrillation (AF) is a common cardiac arrhythmia with significant health implications. To evaluate the severity of AF and monitor the effectiveness of treatments, continuous measurement of AF Burden (AFB) is crucial. This demo showcases a cost-effective, portable, and user-friendly solution for AFB monitoring. Our system integrates the arduino nano 33 BLE sense board with the AD8232 sensor to reliably capture single-lead ECG data. Additionally, a custom algorithm computes real-time AFB, providing insights into the frequency and duration of AF episodes. This system has the potential to enhance AF management and patient care, making cardiac health monitoring more accessible.

Introduction: The current global threat posed by the novel severe respiratory disease Corona Virus 2 is the most serious global public health disaster. The Internet of Things (IoT) is redefining innovative medical approaches. It is the progressing medical care frameworks from conventional by allowing patients to be more easily diagnosed, and checked. Methods: In this paper, a convenient physiological scrutinizing groundwork is presented, which will allow us to continually monitor the patient's body temperature, blood oxygen level, saline levels, and respiration rate alongside cough detection. In both indoor and outdoor environments, note the temperature, humidity, and the position of any hazardous gasses. Results: The data are saved on the web server, from which the person can access it from all over the world via an online connection. Conclusion: We established a notification system for significant changes in sensor information via a web page, email, and SMS alerts with buzzer activation during an emergency. © 2024 The Author(s).

This paper presents a study of solar panels composed of triple-junction solar cells used in CubeSats;in particular, it focuses on optimizing the power supplied by these panels using the maximum power point tracking technique (MPPT). Optimizing this power is a challenge that is not easily overcome, due to the constraints associated with CubeSats applications, especially in terms of weight, area, budget, as well as the low power generated by these panels which do not exceed 2.4 W at the maximum power point. For all these considerations, both P&O and INC techniques were chosen, since P&O is relatively easy to implement and does not require complex equipment, while INC is known for its high tracking accuracy in difficult environments under fast changing solar conditions, plus the low cost characterizing both techniques, which makes them suitable for CubeSats applications. To select the most appropriate technique for CubeSats applications, a comparative study between both P&O and INC algorithms is performed theoretically using a MATLAB/SIMULINK simulation, followed by a hardware implementation to transfer ideas from theory to practice for realizing the CubeSats power system electronic board since the present study is carried out in the context of a CubeSat application, it focuses on the nanosatellite power system, making it distinct compared to ordinary photovoltaic systems, which have been widely used and studied in previous research in the field of photovoltaics. © 2024 The Author(s)
