Over a billion people around the world are disabled, among whom 253 million are visually impaired or blind, and this number is greatly increasing due to ageing, chronic diseases, and poor environments and health. Despite many proposals, the current devices and systems lack maturity and do not completely fulfill user requirements and satisfaction. Increased research activity in this field is required in order to encourage the development, commercialization, and widespread acceptance of low-cost and affordable assistive technologies for visual impairment and other disabilities. This paper proposes a novel approach using a LiDAR with a servo motor and an ultrasonic sensor to collect data and predict objects using deep learning for environment perception and navigation. We adopted this approach using a pair of smart glasses, called LidSonic V2.0, to enable the identification of obstacles for the visually impaired. The LidSonic system consists of an arduino uno edge computing device integrated into the smart glasses and a smartphone app that transmits data via Bluetooth. arduino gathers data, operates the sensors on the smart glasses, detects obstacles using simple data processing, and provides buzzer feedback to visually impaired users. The smartphone application collects data from arduino, detects and classifies items in the spatial environment, and gives spoken feedback to the user on the detected objects. In comparison to image-processing-based glasses, LidSonic uses far less processing time and energy to classify obstacles using simple LiDAR data, according to several integer measurements. We comprehensively describe the proposed system's hardware and software design, having constructed their prototype implementations and tested them in real-world environments. Using the open platforms, WEKA and TensorFlow, the entire LidSonic system is built with affordable off-the-shelf sensors and a microcontroller board costing less than USD 80. Nowadays most institutions follow a cumbersome method to monitor the attendance of the students manually. The manual method of calling the students and marking the status of it on the book is prolonged and insecure. This paper, designed a new paradigm of monitoring student's attendance using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and Global System for Mobile (GSM) communication technology based on the Internet of Things (IoT). The proposed model consists of both hardware and software parts based on IoT technology. The hardware part consists of components like EM-19 RFID reader, RFID tags, and GSM module. The software part consists of Application Programming Interface (API) to send information instantly to the registered mobile phone. The proposed system works effectively decimating the information of student status to their respective parents/guardian and even authenticated person with valid credentials can access the database from the server from any place and time.

The rise of COVID-19 has precipitated an increased importance of cleaning and sanitation, ideally without human intervention. This paper proposes a solution to meet this emerging need by means of a low-cost fully autonomous robot equipped with pumps for sanitation spray. The robot is designed for disinfection of corridors such as those in grocery stores, hotels etc., using the readily available peroxide disinfectant. It is controlled using an arduino uno and can efficiently avoid obstacles. For further convenience, the robot design is modular to ensure protection of the electronics as well as ease of charging and unskilled operation.

This paper addresses the challenges faced by individuals with impairments, focusing on their specific needs. Moreover, the insights from this study can be applied to individuals who have encountered accidents or various similar circumstances. The primary objective of this endeavor is to mitigate their discomfort. The project demonstrates the creation of an affordable machine control system utilizing IoT technology. This system incorporates functionalities such as speech control and hand gestures, making it beneficial for people with impairments. The Internet of Things (IoT) pertains to the interconnectedness of electronic devices, software, sensors, actuators, and network connectivity among machines, vehicles, structures, and other entities. This connectivity enables the gathering and sharing of data. The application of IoT technology in this undertaking facilitates wireless control of devices via internet connectivity. The project employs a Node MCU development board as the central computing module. Furthermore, the project envisions an interface that empowers users through voice commands and hand gestures, accessible through a dedicated app. The MIT Software Inventor employs an online speech-to-text infrastructure to enable speech control. The system listens for the user's vocal commands and recognizes hand angular positions. Upon detecting specific predefined phrases, corresponding actions are triggered to activate or deactivate the machines. The innovative aspect of this concept lies in its ability to empower differently-abled individuals to effortlessly control machines through voice commands and hand gestures. The proposed system extends its applications to the industrial sector, streamlining machinery management and enhancing personnel control. This app-based interface can be accessed from any global location, further enhancing its accessibility and usability. © 2023

This paper aims to develop a virtual reality program as an alternative to field trips which promotes accident-free education tours to primary level students. The team used Unity software as a platform for stitching 360 pictures and videos and built for Android OS specifically for Samsung Gear VR powered by Oculus. arduino is used to serve as restriction of the instructor to the students using a fingerprint scanner to observe synchronized group of scenes. The devices for each student are connected to the instructor via Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN). Effectiveness and efficiency of the system will be determined based on the result observed through the student's experience.

Using hand gestures for controlling laptop features is a creative and innovative strategy of communication between users and devices. As compared to existing methods, the technique of hand gesture has the benefit of being easier to use. By using this technique, the conventional method of using mouse, keyboards, and controllers will have to change since by utilizing the proposed solution, one can interact with the computer with hand gestures. In this technique, ultrasonic sensor is used to classify the hand movement in real time. Ultrasonic sensors (HC-SR04) measure the distance of the user’s hand by using sound waves to calculate the time difference between reflected waves. The principle thought of our methodology is to accelerate the interaction with the computer, by using universally used equipment like a laptop, arduino uno board, and low-cost sensors like the HC-SR04. By the use of PyAutoGUI and PySerial, the device was able to communicate and interpret the input data by the arduino. Hence by acting along these lines, any user can easily interact with the computer using simple, easy to learn hand gestures. © 2021, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

These days, families are having almost all the working members. To detect some unwanted changes in home environment, we need a system to detect those activities. Most of the researcher worked on the environmental monitoring products but we need those products which are affordable and tell us about our surrounding or home even we are not present there. So, to overcome this problem we have designed a system that sense the Temperature, Humidity, Gas, PPM and Flame in the house and provide a survey of different environmental system for comparison. If any of these parameters are above threshold level then the user will get the alert and an appropriate action can be performed by the user. © 2021 IEEE.

In today’s fast-paced generation, the need of the hour is to develop a technology that can make day-to-day mundane activities obsolete and replace them with a much more convenient and versatile solution. One of such mundane activities is the operation of household switchboards. This project provides the luxury of comfort while "jockeying the sockets of one’s household." The world is facing the problem of overcharging, wherein a lot of phone companies are investing billions to solve it by modernizing phones/chargers, while our solution is to modernize the sockets instead. In the current work, basic networking and communication have been used. Base framework for developing technology that can solve many of our day-to-day problems is developed. One of the primary aims of the current work is to eliminate the physical requirement of the user at the time of switching on or off devices plugged on to switchboards. This will not only be a luxury for the buyers but also to the world as it cuts on electronic waste and saves electricity.
