Internet of Underwater Things (IoUT) is an emerging field within Internet of Things (IoT) towards smart cities. IoUT has applications in monitoring underwater structures as well as marine life. This paper presents preliminary work where sensor nodes were built on arduino uno platform with temperature and pressure sensors with wireless capability. The sensors nodes were then tested in the Flumes of the COAST laboratory to determine the maximum depth achievable in fresh water before the signal is lost as radio frequencies are susceptible to interference under water. Further, the received signals were de-noised using Wavelet Transform, Daubechies thresholding techniques at level 5. Preliminary results suggest that at a depth of 30 cm, signal was lost, de-noising of the signal was achieved with very small errors (a mean squared error of 0.106 and 0.000446 and Peak-Sign-to-Noise Ratios of 70.18 dB and 58.83 dB for the pressure and temperature signals, respectively. Results from this study will lay the foundation to further investigations in wireless sensor networks in IoUT integrating the de-noising techniques.

In this paper author focuses on a special application of power electronics to the field of photovoltaic, which is called MPPT or Maximum Power Point Tracking. Indeed, MPP is dependent on the ambient conditions, if the irradiance or temperature change, the current-voltage and the power-voltage characteristics will change as well, and hence the position of the MPPT may shift. Therefore, changes in the Current-voltage curve have to be tracked continuously such that the operating point can be adjusted to be at the MPP after changes of the ambient conditions. In this context, solar tracking systems are the best devices for maximizing the collected energy by the PV panel whose purpose is to keep the PV panel perpendicular to the incident solar radiation. The proposed prototype is based on a dual axis solar tracker controlled with MPPT techniques, in order to have an optimal angle of incidence on the plate for better performance.

In metropolitan cities, outdoor air pollution and ambient outdoor noise transmission are significant environmental hazards, degrading indoor environmental quality. Natural ventilation is often a viable option for diluting indoor air pollutants, but transportation noise transmission is a crucial ecological conflict. Therefore, personal control over the concentration of outdoor/indoor air pollutants and noise levels is a significant threshold for natural ventilation availability. This study proposes real-time data detection and notification solutions using sensors and artificial intelligence (AI) to improve indoor air quality and outdoor air quality and outdoor noise transmission. An intelligent real-time detection and notification system was implemented in a distributed computing framework with cloud and edge computing. The objective of this study is placed on three facets: (1) development of sensors and NVIDIA Jetson Nano prototype for air quality and noise level detection, (2) application of machine learning for air quality and noise level prediction and classification, and (3) web interface for real-time monitoring and prediction for air quality and noise level detection. The results showed that the proposed user interface provides building occupants with real-time data of outdoor/indoor Air Quality Index (AQI) and noise levels for the optimized occupant control over Indoor Air Quality (IAQ). The personal control over indoor environmental quality (IEQ) enables occupants to promote natural ventilation behaviors and integrate with the existing building system on optimized IEQ by interacting with AI-based real-time data.

IoT based Temperature and Humidity Controlling using arduino and Raspberry Pi

Internet of Things (IoT) plays a pivotal part in our mundane daily life by controlling electronic devices using networks. The controlling is done by minutely observing the important parameters which generate vital pieces of information concerning the functioning of these electronic devices. Simultaneously, this information will transmit these vital statistics from the transmitting device as well as save the same on the cloud to access by the applications and supplementary procedures to use them. This scrutiny associates the outcomes of the environmental observances like the humidity and temperature measurements using sensors. The gathered information could be profitably used to produce actions like distantly dominant cooling, heating devices, or long term statistics, which will be useful to control the same. The detected data are uploaded to the cloud storage through network and associate using android application. The system employs arduino uno with Raspberry Pi, HTU 211D sensor device, and an ESP8266 Wi-Fi module. The experimental results show the live temperature and humidity of the surroundings and the soil moisture of any plant using arduino uno with Raspberry Pi. Raspberry Pi is mainly used here for checking the temperature and humidity through the HTU 211D sensor element. The sensors are used for measuring the temperatures from the surroundings, storing displayed information with different devices. Here, the ESP8266 Wi-Fi module has been used for data storing purpose.

The waste management is a major problem all over the world. The smart is an innovative automated device for the separate collection of used absorbent hygiene products. The Automatic Intelligence Smart Bin helps to solve waste management problem in smart cities. The smart bin will play a important role in smart cities. The smart lifestyle begins with cleanliness environment within the city which originates with smart bin. The smart bin utilized HC-SR04 Ultrasonic Sensor is used to identify human being and TowerPro SG90 Servo Motor is used to open/close the smart bin lid automatically. The arduino uno microcontroller was used to control the smart bin overall functionality. The smart bin separates dry/wet garbage collection using IoT sensor within the smart bin. The smart bin is full up to 80% then the microcontroller sends warning message to garbage collector automatically. The top of the smart bin solar panel is fixed, which is used to collect energy from sun. The collected energies are stored in the battery bank which is used to operate smart bin automatically. The applications of smart bins are shopping malls, Colleges/University campus, Railway stations, Tourist areas, Parks etc.

Low-cost optical sensor for real-time blood loss monitoring during transurethral surgery

In this study, a cost-effective optical sensor was developed to quantify a blood loss during transurethral surgery. The device is based on the principles of optical spectroscopy and consists of an ultraviolet light emitting diode (LED) with an emission maximum of 405 nm as a light source, and a simple photoresistor for detecting the transmitted light. arduino uno board provides continuous voltage measurements of the photodiode, and sends these values to a computer for processing. This optical sensor was installed into the drain tube connected to the resectoscope where saline with a possible presence of blood was channeled during a transurethral resection. To calculate the blood loss, the sensor signal intensity over time was plotted to generate an "area under the curve" measurement. The performance of the device was evaluated in the laboratory by assaying different concentrations of human blood mixed with a saline solution. Measurements were made using both static and flowing samples. Linear regression models for both modes have a high correlation coefficient between the area under the curve and the blood content (R-2 = 0.99 and 0.93, for static and dynamic measurements, respectively). The optical sensor received practical testing during a transurethral resection of a bladder tumor. The results indicate that the developed optical sensor can be successfully applied in medical practice.

Sensor network has taken the focus significantly on their vast of the practical purposes study as individual sensors and their related networks for engineering structural as well as a high efficiency monitoring. The sensor network was designed to respond to emergencies in the real-time as the radiological field observed. An intelligent system-based sensor network is presented and used to monitor the health of remote oil wells, in which it compromises of three sensors used for data sensing in oil field, including a temperature sensor, a pressure sensor, and a gas sensor. The intelligent micro-processor sensors are engineered generally for an oil well's data processing, crucial fault alarm or signal, traditional data storage or signal, data/status connection. The smart microcontroller (arduino uno) was connected to a global mobile communication system (GSM), for the monitoring of information processes, a malfunctioning sensor or a power management indication and the malfunctioning message would be sent to the maintenance team if any purpose required.

Keeping public safety in mind and to reduce human life loss there is a need to design a system which will continuously monitor condition of bridges. This project utilizes sensor network on real time basis for bridge health monitoring. It can transmit the information consistently for quite a few minutes. In that vibrations of bridge can be detected. The main aim of the proposed work is to read the vibration of Road Bridge using accelerometers. The capacity of this sensor framework is to evaluate the displacement or dislodgement of the bridge using the information acquired from the accelerometers which are fixed on bridge deck. Accelerometer is a broadly used device to know the vibration of the bridges. Monitoring frameworks have been used to monitor critical infrastructure such as bridges, high-rise buildings, and arenas and can possibly improve structure life expectancy, improve open security and help in structural disaster management and recovery. The outline and implementation of a low power realtime gas leakage detection and LoRa wireless communication technology-based notification system are accompanied by the multistage safety features in the kitchen as well as in the house have been inaugurated in this paper. The proposed system comprises a LoRa client and a LoRa gateway. LoRa client was made by the RFM69HW LoRa module, arduino uno, and some sensing devices, which were installed in the kitchen. Primarily a LoRa gateway was installed in our community. This LoRa gateway was associated with a cloud server (Ubidots) by employing Wi-Fi networks as transmission media. When gas leakage was detected, liquid crystal display (LCD), and the buzzer were activated, thereupon a GPS sensor identified the geographical position of the affected area, and LoRa client stored the measured data to Ubidots IoT platform, afterword data was sent to the user and police station, and eventually, the main power circuit at home was tripped off, and the exhaust fan was activated for avoiding further accidents. Here, for the efficient use of heat from a conventional gas stove in Bangladesh, and subsequently, for the secure power supply to the whole system, power was generated from the unused heat during cooking using the seeback concept of thermoelectric power generation(TEG) module.
