The rapid growth of technology has been applied to different areas of a person's daily routine. One of the areas is the automation system that is being applied to our spaces. This study uses the Kalman filtering and Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) algorithm for the motion detection of the system connected to the main controller, which is the arduino uno, wherein the electric load state and time of the day will be programmed. The researchers tested the system in a room, measuring the accuracy of the motion algorithm, the time set for the scheduling feature, and the energy consumed with and without the prototype. In summary, the automated system of the study with the MATLAB algorithm, Kalman filtering, and GMM with time scheduling through arduino can indeed be a cost-effective, energy-saving, and helpful tool that can apply to office spaces.

The design, virtual prototyping and hardware implementation of a DC-DC converter targeted for converting 12 V from the lead acid battery to 5 V for feeding all the DC loads in a residential system is discussed in this paper. The increase of residential DC loads, especially at 5 V level, demands efficient power conversion system. The conventional residential distribution system, in the presence of battery for power backup, contains an inverter that converts the 12 V DC into 230 V, 50 Hz AC which is distributed to all the sockets in the residence. For charging or operating the 5 V DC appliances, an AC-DC converter converts the 230 V AC into 5 V DC. It could be clearly seen that two AC-DC conversions take place where a single DC-DC conversion could do the job more efficiently. The apt selection of such a converter for this application is discussed followed by its design. Also, the virtual prototyping for this converter is implemented in MATLAB to mimic the digital controller's function. Another highlight of this paper is owed to the use of arduino uno for this purpose which gave rise to promising results when implemented in the hardware.

This paper shows how to implement a didactic control system to obtain zero steady-state error for a ramp input. This system could be used in situations where it is necessary to follow a specific speed profile, such as elevators. Considering that the mechanical pole is responsible for the temporal response, a DC motor can be represented by a first-order system. In this paper, a capacitor and a resistor are used to emulate the characteristics of a DC motor. An arduino uno is used to implement two discrete integrators to obtain zero steady-state for a ramp input. Using Bode Diagrams in W' plane is designed a compensator.
