The main objective of this paper is to design and implement a remote sensing based home automation system using arduino uno Kit as a main controller for this scheme. The proposed system has two operational scenarios. The first scenario is to control the home devices from anywhere by using a smart phone with remote sensors and internet technologies controlling by the user, it is named a manual-scenario. The second scenario is to monitor and control the home devices by an automatic management between the remote sensors and the main controller 'arduino uno Kit', it is called an automatic scenario. To make and easy deal for a user the Matlab GUI platform is designed as a good interface to control and monitor the system. The proposed system is shown to be a simple, cost effective and flexible that making it a suitable and a good candidate for the smart home future.

This paper proposes the use of Rochelle salt (KNaC4O6.4H2O) as a piezoelectric sensor for efficient smart energy saving systems. The piezoelectric properties of Rochelle salt tested for different configurations have been discussed and the best possible arrangement has been proposed for pressure sensing by arduino uno. The Rochelle salt crystals have been synthesized, converted into powdered form and molded in suitable configuration efficient for pressure sensing applications. The proposed Rochelle configuration comprises of 26gms of Rochelle salt packed in cylindrical insulating tube of length 11.4cm and diameter of 5cm employing Cu-Al as electrode combination capable of generating the maximum output voltage of 391mV, which is sufficient enough to be sensed by arduino uno. This arrangement has been used for efficient energy saving applications in tunnels, bridges. The lighting system in the tunnel or the lights along the bridge can be turned ON when the vehicle enters the tunnel or cross the bridge by installing the proposed Rochelle sensor on the entrance of tunnel or bridge and can be effectively turned OFF when the vehicle crosses the tunnel or bridge by employing arduino uno, thus leading to the efficient energy saving lighting systems. The prototype of the proposed system has been successfully developed and tested experimentally.

In this paper, a simple method battery charge controller has been designed to protect the battery from over-charging and deep discharges. The control of the process is entrusted to arduino uno board, that must be able to find out the battery state and determine when the charge process must be finished. The state of the battery is perfectly controlled all the time. The use of an arduino uno based on microcontroller has been considered in order to allow a good flexibility, to simplify the hardware required (only a few external components are used), and to provide an intelligent tool to undertake, through the programmed algorithm. A buck DC-DC Converter has been used to step down voltage from the panel photovoltaic to charge voltage of the battery. This paper presents a comparison between the simulation and practical realization results of the device. A good agreement is obtained.

Now a days its a challenge to improve development of plant in respect of its growth and to reduce costs which leads to an innovative idea of using an automated irrigation system which will further help in better management of water and human resources. An automated irrigation system have been developed using sensors technology with arduino to efficiently utilize water for irrigation purpose. The system has soil moisture sensor inserted into the soil of the plants and a water level sensor placed in a water container from where water will be pumped to plants for irrigation. An algorithm has been build out with threshold values of soil moisture sensor to control the water quantity in soil and also a water level sensor has been implemented to measure the water level in tank. This project requires arduino board having inbuilt ATMega328 microcontroller. This project is need of the hour to convert manual irrigation into an automated irrigation which with the help of soil moisture sensor will detect dankness content of soil leading to turn ON/OFF of pumping motor. Human efforts can be reduced using this technique and increase saving of water by efficiently irrigating the plants. The design has been made with better resource management and low power consumption. This project brings into play a micro-controller which is of 8051 family, this programmable micro-controller collects the input signals converted into values of moisture in the soil via soil moisture sensors. As the microcontroller starts obtaining the signals, it creates an output that forces a relay for running the water pumping motor. An LCD screen is also linked to the micro-controller to show moisture conditions of the soil and water pump. The water level sensor is used to detect the level of tank so that tank contains efficient water to transfer into crops.

Here, we are going to describe the design and the cost estimation of a PV analyzer based on arduino uno, an electronic platform. The purpose is to introduce a PV analyzer with lower manufacturing cost as compared to other's. This proposed design is the sequential assemblage of voltage sensor, current sensor, temperature sensor, variable rheostat and arduino uno. The analyzer will contribute in measurement and keeping the record of various output parameters like current, voltage & power. It also store the data of the parameters (temperature) affecting the output of a PV system. This designed analyzer has been tested for different probable conditions and it performed up to the mark. This sequential design can be used for any PV system providing set of the components with specific power rating. Design and cost estimation of the above mentioned analyzer can be seen here.

A cost expenditure of software defined radio software has limiting the development of cognitive radio in third countries. Moreover, a complexity of signal processing library in a SDR platform has contributed to the hard implementation in real applications. In this works, the development of SDR platform with low cost expenditure is proposed. arduino uno and X Bee uses for the OFDM based spectrum exchange information. In a case of spectrum sensing scenario, the objective of the local spectrum sensing is to detect the PU's signal detection. The performance of SN ability to sense the PU's signal is crucial. It was shown that from the previous works as the detected power is quantized into information bit is simulated. In order to implemented the spectrum exchange information during sensing, arduino uno and X Bee is implemented to sense the presence of PU activity channels of wifi terminals based on the energy of the signals. The detected power (RSSI) of wifi terminals is exchanged into an OFDM subcarrier tone signal such as orthogonal sub-channel that being equally divided from the licensed band. The results shows that using proposed software defined radio (SDR) based on arduino and X Bee, the cognitive radio spectrum sensing is applied. The received power from the PU's channels such as wifi networks can be detected as well. The system could received and exchanged into OFDM-based subcarrier information bits.

In this paper a new, low cost and efficient PV analyzer has been designed using the arduino open source electronic platform for remote areas of developing countries. The designed analyzer is observed to have satisfactory accuracy and provides deep insight of PV arrays. The analyzer comprises of arduino uno, irradiation sensor, temperature sensor, voltage sensor and current sensor. It was tested for various commercially available PV panels of different types and sizes. The obtained results are reliable and have comparable performance to the commercially available PV analyzers. This PV analyzer is of special interest for solar energy research and application in developing regions, as it is both cost effective and open source. It can be modified according to the demands of the project. The details of the analyzer's components and implementation are described.

This paper shows how to implement a didactic control system to obtain zero steady-state error for a ramp input. This system could be used in situations where it is necessary to follow a specific speed profile, such as elevators. Considering that the mechanical pole is responsible for the temporal response, a DC motor can be represented by a first-order system. In this paper, a capacitor and a resistor are used to emulate the characteristics of a DC motor. An arduino uno is used to implement two discrete integrators to obtain zero steady-state for a ramp input. Using Bode Diagrams in W' plane is designed a compensator. The system is assembled and tested and the results are shown.

Presence of doctor is essential for proper patient care. But he cannot be present on each and every place to provide medication or treatment. So remote monitoring of a patient is the right solution. But the problem is availability of internet connection in a rural area. So this inspired us to use GSM module for this project since the telecom network is widely spread within rural & urban area of the India. This system is used to monitor physical parameter like heart beat and send the measured data directly to a doctor through SMS. System consists of an IR base heart beat sensor, arduino uno & GSM module. This device will be able to measure heart beat from an infant to elder person. The low cost of the device will help to provide appropriate home base effective monitoring system.

Aim of this paper is to discuss about power quality of the AC system, which has become a great concern due to the rapidly increased use of inductive loads, electronic equipment (Linear and Non linear load). We are wasting a part of the electrical energy everyday due to the lagging power factor in the inductive loads which is used in the system. Hence, there is an urgent need to avoid this wastage of energy, lower power factor and reactive power results in poor reliability, safety problems and high energy cost. The power factor of power system is continuously changing due to differences in the size and number of the equipment being used at a time. This makes it challenging to balance the inductive and capacitive loads continuously. Many control methods for the Power Factor Correction (PFC) were proposed. This paper presents a computationally accurate technique to design and development of a single phase as well as three phase power factor correction, reactive power and THD compensation using arduino uno micro-controlling chip. The hardware implementation is developed by using arduino uno board.
