Photonic structure for embedded application: Realization of optical filter based locking system

Optical filter based locking system using photonic structure is explored in this research. Here, photonic structure is envisaged by the apt periodic combination of silicon and air. The proposed photonic structure interface with hardware implementation to realize the optical fiber based locking system. This paper emphasizes on both simulation outcomes which is investigated through reflectance characteristics and hardware implementation using arduino board to display the lock/ unlock status. Finally, this work divulges that different type of locking system may be designed with varying the input parameters of photonic structures.

Information and communication technologies have aided advancements in providing a healthy and safe working environment at the workplace. Using ICT-based Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) minimizes the likelihood of workplace accidents due to the technology embedded equipment able to make decisions based on environmental factors. The Internet of Things (IoT) and Communication Technologies enable the generation of PPE models and devices with innovative features such as environmental sensing, monitoring, and risk identification, among others. Human resources working underground are confronted with various real-time issues resulting in significant health problems or even death. Mine workers are particularly vulnerable to toxic gases and changes in ambient conditions such as temperature, humidity, and so on. Various warning generation devices have been created, with a few implanted in mining fields. Existing warning generation systems are ineffective in protecting and saving workers' life pneumoconiosis diseases. They cannot recognize health symptoms that occur in real-time, such as choking, heart rate fluctuations, and others. The proposed work emphasizes the development of a real-time surveillance helmet that incorporates IoT Sensors that can rescue with early-warning intelligence on the presence of fire, silicosis dust particles, temperature, harmful gases, and others that will reduce worker health risks. A builtin GPS tracker will aid in tracking the miner's current location. Proposed work will reduce the number of hazardous accidents and deaths in such areas. Based on the accuracy parameter, this work is evaluated in three different working environments. This paper presents new synchronization results for a class of nonlinear discrete-time chaotic systems based on a synergetic observer design with a circuit implementation. The synchronization master-slave method adopted is based on the synergetic theory which is exploited to propose a synergetic observer. The system (master) adopted is that of the discrete-time Lur'e forms. One of the main contributions of this paper is to exploit this simple special form as master in order to design a synergetic observer (slave) which allows us to control the rate of convergence of the synchronization error using the synergetic design parameter matrix. In order to achieve the synchronization method, sufficient conditions for asymptotic synchronization are given. Two simulation examples are provided to show the effectiveness of the method in two different cases: the master system respects and does not respect the Lur'e form. Furthermore, experimental implementation results using arduino boards are illustrated to validate the proposed approach (C) 2020 International Association for Mathematics and Computers in Simulation (IMACS). The design of a handheld capnography device is in great demand because of its effective and practical uses in all cardiac arrest resuscitations,according to the recommendation of the American Heart ***,a handheld capnography device that can be used in clinical settings and the home environment is *** proposed device was developed by using an infrared CO_(2)sensor,arduino Mega2560,and a high-resolution display(2.8").Furthermore,two rechargeable batteries(7.6 V,0.99 A)and a secure digital card with a capacity of 16 GB were incorporated to increase the portability and usability of the *** were implemented to measure standard features,namely,inspired CO_(2)(ICO_(2)),end-tidal CO_(2)(EtCO_(2)),and re-spiratory rate(RR).The features of 15 healthy subjects were recorded by using the developed prototype and the standard capnography device(Capnostream^(TM)20 Model CS08798).Validation was performed with Bland-Altman *** revealed that mean differences±standard deviations for the set limits of ICO_(2),EtCO_(2)and RR were 0.29±1.30 millimeters of mercury(mmHg),0.15±1.77 mmHg and 0.40±0.97 breaths per minute(bpm),*** of the differences among device measurements across all features fell within the 95%limits of ***,the developed device may help manage respiratory distress conditions in and outside of a hospital setting.

Design and construction of a wireless robot that simulates head movements in cone beam computed tomography imaging

One of the major challenges in the science of maxillofacial radiology imaging is the various artifacts created in images taken by cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) imaging systems. Among these artifacts, motion artifact, which is created by the patient, has adverse effects on image quality. In this paper, according to the conditions and limitations of the CBCT imaging room, the goal is the design and development of a cable-driven parallel robot to create repeatable movements of a dry skull inside a CBCT scanner for studying motion artifacts and building up reference datasets with motion artifacts. The proposed robot allows a dry skull to execute motions, which were selected on the basis of clinical evidence, with 3-degrees of freedom during imaging in synchronous manner with the radiation beam. The kinematic model of the robot is presented to investigate and describe the correlation between the amount of motion and the pulse width applied to DC motors. This robot can be controlled by the user through a smartphone or laptop wirelessly via a Wi-Fi connection. Using wireless communication protects the user from harmful radiation during robot driving and functioning. The results show that the designed robot has a reproducibility above 95% in performing various movements.

Design and implementation of opto-electro decoder using photonic structure: A new application of Li-fi vis-a-vis optical embedded system

An opto-electro decoder is envisaged in this research using the principle of filter and fidelity, where filter deals with an optical grating structure and fidelity are coped with light wave technology via visible communication. Further, the operational principle of filter relays on photonic band gap of the structure which is replicated through reflectance analysis with the help of the plane wave expansion method, where the working of Li-fi technology banks on the combination of the function of arduino boards via LED and photo detector through hardware implementation which is characterized by the help of MATLAB Simulink model. To sum up, the combination of optical filter and light fidelity leads to an embedded application to figure out the decoding action.

In this study, a low-cost RGB sensor is developed to measure online the microalgae concentration within a photo-bioreactor. Two commercially available devices, i.e., a spectrophotometer for offline measurements and an immersed probe for online measurements, are used for calibration and comparison purposes. Furthermore, the potential of such a sensor for estimating other variables is illustrated with the design of an extended Luenberger observer.

SMART COFFEE VENDING MACHINE BASED ON IOT CONCEPT

In order to improve the effectiveness of franchise system, this paper describes how to utilize the Internet of Things (IoT) concept for upgrading a franchisor's traditional coffee vending machine to be a smart coffee vending machine (SCVM) with remote monitoring and control capabilities. The IoT-based SCVM provides powerful web dashboard to monitor machine operation statuses, track ingredient and component availability, and adjust hot drink recipes. The proposed improvement can therefore help both franchisor and franchisee not only to ensure that how well the machine is operating, and how well the machine is stocked but also to plan that when a supply worker needs to pay a visit to the machine for refilling ingredients based on sales data, and when a maintenance worker needs to pay a visit to the machine for providing services based on technical data. The proposed technique uses an arduino board to replace an existing machine controller and installs a Raspberry Pi module to perform as a gateway for data transmission between the SCVM and the Ubidots cloud server via Internet. The Node-RED engine running on the Raspberry Pi is utilized as the IoT platform to collect and process the technical and sales data of the SCVM that dispenses three kinds of hot drinks. Based on user login system, the franchisor is allowed to remotely monitor the interested parameters of all SCVMs on the created dashboard for ensuring product availability as well as to remotely control the ratios of instant coffee/cocoa powder and hot water for ensuring product quality, whereas each franchisee is allowed to remotely monitor the operation status and daily sales detail for his approved machines only. Test results from data simulations confirm that the upgraded SCVM and created dashboard subpages function correctly in accordance with the franchisor's requirements.

In teaching undergraduate automatic controls, the laboratory experience is an important and irreplaceable component. Historically, good platforms for a controls laboratory have been expensive, because the equipment has typically been very specialized for educational purposes. Moreover, the equipment often is not physically robust in the face of student manhandling, creating major difficulties and costs in maintaining such a lab. The advent of inexpensive open-source controller hardware is revolutionizing this situation because it is now possible to have good controls-hardware capability at relatively low cost. The arduino Mega 2560, in particular, is supported by Matlab, Simulink and LabView, and thus provides a great deal of flexibility in developing laboratory procedures for students to study controls. The arduino is an open-source electronics prototyping platform based on flexible, easy-to-use hardware and software. The "motor shield" is an add-on (daughterboard) to the arduino that further enables control of dc motors. This paper explains a method and hardware to connect an arduino to a separately-powered dc-motor unit. Matlab and Simulink provide full support of the arduino board for feedback-controller design. The arduino board is powered by, and communicates with Simulink, through a standard USB connection.

Ubiquitous Computing is considered to be as the new technology era which is exploring different ways to allow smart devices to function without need for user effort and awareness. Ubiquitous systems are designed to be available and accessible from anywhere. Ubiquitous Computing for shopping giving a new way of providing shopping standard and offers Smarter Environment where users can shop intelligently. Many systems are using the RFID technology for reducing the billing time during shopping. But the cost of RFID is of a greater consideration and it requires constant radio frequency waves to be emitted to read the product information which may not be suitable for markets in developing countries like India. The objective of this paper is based on providing a smart service to people in shopping malls using the SABIS - Smart arduino Based Intelligent Shopping Architecture. The trolleys in the shopping malls are enabled with a device consisting of arduino board which can identify the products by communicating with the racks which in turn consists of an arduino board which is programmed with the details of the product in the rack. The communication is established using a wired mechanism where the trolley and rack are connected using wires. The customer can pay the bill directly in the counter reducing the billing time where the bill is retrieved by generating an interrupt at the end of the shopping process. The digital display device displays product information along with the total cost of the products in the trolley. Thus this system provides an enhanced way for shopping to the customers in a reduced cost and efficient mechanism.
