The manipulation of an automated traffic signal is triggered by a Traffic Signal Preemption system. The signals are generally a preconception end to support the emergency vehicles like ambulances and fire truck. This results in their counter times being shortened and the right of-way is offered in an organized and smoothway. The paper offers a pioneering and practical server-centricmodel to enable preemption using an elementarymobile phone applicationwhich uses Global Positioning System (GPS) and a microcontroller which regulates traffic signals.

Oyster mushroom is one type of mushroom that is commonly consumed by Indonesian people which is relatively easy to cultivate. It can produce the optimum fruit body at temperatures below 30 degrees C, the range of humidity is 60-90% with altitudes between 500-1000 meters above sea level. This paper describes on the development of the prototype of temperature and humidity control system in oyster mushroom cultivation using a fuzzy logic controller. The prototype comprises of DHT11 sensor for detecting temperature and humidity, arduino microcontroller, mistmaker, and cooling fan. Fuzzy logic controller is installed in the arduino microcontroller to generate an actuating signal for the mistmaker and cooling fan based on fuzzy inputs. The whole fuzzy system is designed using two inputs namely temperature and humidity with each input consist of three fuzzy sets with the triangular membership function. Meanwhile, the output variable is the speed of cooling fan with three fuzzy sets and triangular membership functions. A Mamdani inference system is adopted to achieve the control objective in the whole system. Based on the appropriate rule bases, fuzzy logic controllers are designed to produce the temperature and humidity setpoint around 27 degrees C and 60-90 % respectively. Experimental results show the time response to achieve the setpoint span from 1 minute 27 seconds until 8 minutes 10 seconds.

This paper proposes an android-based elderly support system as an alternative way for existing care homes or health care centers. The aims of the study are to monitor the users based on their location via GPS tracking method and detect the user's heart rate using a portable pulse sensor. This project can be divided into two parts;development of android application and hardware implementation. Android application is developed to integrate a caretaker subsystem with the controller. A caretaker subsystem acts as an admin of the system which responsible for monitoring the users. Hardware implementation involves construction of a prototype equipped with arduino microcontroller, Global Positioning System (GPS) module, Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) modem, Bluetooth module and power supply unit. A set of data collection is analyzed to evaluate the consistency of the heartbeat monitoring function. The proposed project offers a portable day care service for elderly people via android smart phone in a low cost manner.

In this paper, a smart stick is intended and executed to aid blind persons so that they can walk independently without much difficulty. Firstly, pothole detection and avoidance system are implemented by setting the ultrasonic sensor at 30-degree angle on a suitable blind stick to sense if there is a hole or staircase in front of the blind at about 30 cm distance to avoid a person from falling and as a result may be producing many damages. Secondly, a moisture sensor is placed at the down of stick to measure the degree of water land soil moisture in forward-facing of the user and aware him as soon as that degree exceeds a measured level that may submerge the foot of him. Thirdly, knee above obstacle detection and avoidance system is implemented by using an additional ultrasonic sensor on the top of the stick to turn an alarm and vibration ON when there is a person, obstacle or wall at a distance of 50 cm in front to avoid an accident and thus helping the person to move independently. Fourthly, an ultrasonic sensor is placed down the stick at about 20 cm from the ground level to detect and avoid knee below obstacles and stairs at a distance of 70 cm in front of the user. Fifthly, a wireless remote consisting of RF modules (transmitter and receiver) is implemented, so if a person drops stick or forget it somewhere, he can press a switch of the remote consisting of transmitter part, and as a result alarm with vibrations will turn on, so the user can know the location of the stick. The stick is implemented practically using single wheel leg blinding cane, arduino microcontroller three ultrasonic sensors RF modules. Also, two buzzers and two vibration motor are used on the stick to fit on when any difficulties occur.

Undergraduate (UG) Research is the first step in a students' life to taste the experience of a research work. It is also a unique experience for the teachers to guide the students in research work during their UG study. In this paper we want to share our research experience through the project that involves the building of a Robotic arm which mimics the motion of the human arm of the user at Humanitarian Technology (HuT) Labs of Amrita. The system monitors the motion of the user's arm using a Kinect. The skeletal image of the arm obtained using the "Kinect Skeletal Image" project of Kinect SDK, consists of 3 joints and links connecting them. Coordinate Geometry is used to calculate the angles between the links connecting the joints. This gives us the angles for a 3D representation of the human arm. The angles thus obtained are sent using a serial communication port to the arduino microcontroller, which in turn generates signals which are sent to the servo motors. The servo motors rotate according the angles given as input. The combined motion of the servos results in a complete Robotic arm movement which is a mimic of the human arm movement.

The heavy traffic congestion problem in major cities and towns is mainly attributed to the time spend across crowded traffic junctions especially during peak hours. The traffic across junctions is controlled by signaling patterns, where the signal duration is invariably static in nature. The traffic density across either sides of the road does not affect the duration of signal. For reducing the time taken in waiting across traffic junction, the proposed work aims at simulating a dynamic traffic signal using fuzzy logic which would change the timing of the green signal with respect to the intensity of traffic and feed this to an arduino microcontroller based fuzzy inference system which decides the duration of the green signal. The intensity of traffic is computed using two methods, feature detection and image subtraction methods. The feature detection method takes lot of processing time and image subtraction method along with fuzzy logic was found more suitable in dynamically controlling the duration of traffic signals.

Malaysia has invested on public transport over the years to improve quality of leaving. Transportation has been identified as the key area in Malaysia's government transformation programme. In Malaysia, many people still choose to use their own transport compared to public transport to travel. For efficient public transport service such as bus, real-time tracking/monitoring must be available apart from their fixed schedule. The objective of this project is to develop a low cost real-time IIUM bus on campus monitoring system. IIUM shuttle bus monitoring has been chosen as a pilot study which reflects the bigger picture of Malaysia's bus system. In IIUM, students need to wait for the bus without any clue and this is such a waste of time. Thus, IIUM bus tracking system is proposed in this project where waiting time can be improved. Users can track the exact location of the bus therefore they can have better plan for their journey. Global positioning system technology has been used to send and receive the coordinate data to the server. A web server application has been developed to integrate the Global positioning system data to be presented on the map. At the end of the project, a website of real-time IIUM bus on campus monitoring system has been developed where users can monitor the exact location of the IIUM bus conveniently.

This paper outlines the methodology of designing and implementation of a solar powered system which can be used to make a human comfort zone during day time without using battery backup but with the use of Supercapacitors. Basically, major converter losses are reduced in this system. In acquiring a highly efficient power supply, the charge controller plays an important role. When a DC microgrid powers DC loads based on a renewable source such as a PV system;energy storage becomes mandatory due to fluctuating nature of the source. Localized DC-energy storage within DC-DC converters could address this requirement. A variation of supercapacitor assisted regulators could provide localized energy storage with low-noise and fast transient response [1]. 12 V LED lights will be powered from this system. LEDs can be powered directly via a supercapacitor bank from the regulated Photovoltaic energy. In the case of Inverter type Air Conditioner, in order to overcome converter losses, the DC Bus inside it should be accessed. Typically, DC Bus voltage inside the Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) is 1.414 times the supply voltage. Hence DC-DC Converters are used to power up the inside circuitry of the Inverter Air Conditioner from the solar panel. In order to optimize the energy usage and reduce electricity consumption, light dimming and air conditioning control systems were added to control the light intensity and switching of the air conditioner.

This article is about a simple low cost, small sized controller that helps people controlling their home appliances remotely even if they are outside their properties. The system lets them turn on or off any device while being outside home by sending messages using mobile phones. Moreover, a message could be sent to know more specific details like the temperature of the boiler, AC, etc. The main purpose of this system is to adapt with the private electricity subscription issue that almost all the Lebanese citizens are using to cope with the long electricity current cut off periods. However, the difference in payment rates between the normal current and that of the subscriber is always making a big concern over electricity consumption. Hence, the system will help users to minimize their payments for electricity usage by informing them if the current is on or off so they can control their appliances accordingly.

VI Based Smart Restaurant Management system provides a time-saving solution to automate the food ordering process, alerts the officials in case of any fire accidents, and offers the controller of the system to control the temperature in the cabins and in the food storage area of the restaurant. The previous system was of manual labour where he was repeatedly going the same job for a long time the mind of the person gets frustrated in life as per the report. So, the software has been made to eliminate the frustration of the personal life and the person can some new path in life thus the software makes the visitors timesaving in the restaurant. Previously there is software which were only handled by the waiter and there are some restaurants where you cannot see the price of the food you are going to order in this we will rectify the problem and you can complete the see the price of the food which is to order. © 2024 IEEE.
