Internet-of-Things (IoT) has introduced new avenues of application development towards the Smart City vision. Urbanization is a common trend of current society and its rapid growth demands smarter solutions for waste management in the cities. A probable solution of this problem is the adoption of IoT based waste management systems. In this case, we have to build smart bins that will be connected with the cloud setup of the city authority and will provide constant updates of the waste status of the bins. A critical issue in this case is to provide power to this smart bin establishments. This problem can further be handled by incorporating reusable energy sources such as solar panels with the smart bin setups. In this paper, we design and develop an IoT and cloud based framework for waste management. We have designed and developed smart bins that are intermittently connected to the cloud data storage to share their waste status. City authority is given required web interfaces to manage smart bin installations. Garbage collectors are given mobile applications to help planning garbage collection routes dynamically.

This paper examines an early, proof of concept solution for the design of a three - phase power inverter. The need for an inverter design is required for the drivetrain component (Linear Induction Motor) of a magnetic levitation / Hyperloop transportation system. The design revolves around a typical inverter topology driven by an open-loop controller design. The design proposed in this paper is the integration of an arduino microcontroller and an inverter circuit. The proposed inverter circuit consists of the main components which includes a three - phase gate driver and Insulated Bipolar Transistors (IGBTs) rated for 600V and a PWM controller. The controller used provides the required pulse width modulation (PWM) signals to drive the inverter circuit. The validity of the proposed design is proven through the comparison of the simulations performed in PSIM and the experimental results.

This article is about a simple low cost, small sized controller that helps people controlling their home appliances remotely even if they are outside their properties. The system lets them turn on or off any device while being outside home by sending messages using mobile phones. Moreover, a message could be sent to know more specific details like the temperature of the boiler, AC, etc. The main purpose of this system is to adapt with the private electricity subscription issue that almost all the Lebanese citizens are using to cope with the long electricity current cut off periods. However, the difference in payment rates between the normal current and that of the subscriber is always making a big concern over electricity consumption. Hence, the system will help users to minimize their payments for electricity usage by informing them if the current is on or off so they can control their appliances accordingly.

This article uses arduino microcontroller as the development and application platform, and builds an intelligent car with ATmega2560 chip as the control core, and can use Bluetooth technology to control the movement direction. The car has been tested to achieve real-time and accurate display of time, speed, mileage, steerable, automatic tracking and obstacle avoidance functions.
