The biochemical assays in a microfluidic centrifugal method uses specially designed disks for the miniaturization of typical laboratory processes. This paper describes the development of a low-cost and portable point-of-care device capable of performing blood tests based on microfluidic disk. The device is capable of performing blood cholesterol test in its automatic mode. In manual mode other test routines can be tested according to user's needs. The arduino microcontroller is employed to be the core of this system. It controls the rotational speed, direction, the duration of rotation of the disk and the user interface.

The electrical signals that are emerging from our body enables us to connect to countless applications in the field of Human-machine interface and rehabilitation. In this paper, a low-cost human-machine interface (HMI) is implemented which could be of great help for people who have lost their voluntary movements while retaining the cognitive capacity. Hence the only way to assist them is by recording the bio-signals generated from the body and use them to control special medical assisting equipment. Here, a prototype of a wheelchair has been developed using LABVIEW and an arduino microcontroller that can be actuated by the muscle signals (EMG). The processed signal from the Myoware EMG sensor is given as input to the microcontroller, which depending on the type of signal generated, decides which direction to move on. An attempt has also been made to detect stationary and non-stationary obstacles in the path using an ultrasonic transducer enabled with a smart collision avoidance algorithm, which has been fixed on the wheelchair. Additionally, an anti-theft mode, emergency braking with gyroscope control and a GPS tracking facility has also been incorporated. This single channel EMG controlled wheelchair can also be used to assist and help people affected by partial paralysis or even Quadriplegia with slight modifications.

Each year, the number of stolen vehicle is on the rise. Usually, to prevent theft, a physical type countermeasure is used such as padlock, disk break lock and other more which is a preventive action but it is not enough safe. The objective of this study is to create a controllable system that can display the location of a vehicle using Global position system (GPS) to pin point the location and Global System for Mobile (GSM) as a mean for communicating with the vehicle for ease of finding after a theft attempt. The system is made to test the accuracy of the location that is send to the user when the vehicle is in motion and stationary in the city and suburb. The system is made by combining a micro controller with GPS and GSM, then comparing it with other similar device available in the market like Garmin and a reference website to find the radius of error. The study of proposed device begins by studying IEEE journal about alternative product and the vehicle itself. The hardware and program development is done by research and trial and error as the controller do not interact with both module at the same time, after successfully programming both module, it is combined into a single program with addition of interrupt program. The experiment is done in three set of tests so that the system accuracy can be determine when stationary and in motion on vehicle, output controlling is the test to determine if the controller can be made into anti-theft system. The result of the test concludes that the system can provide standard GPS coordinate when requested via Short Message Service (SMS). The system can also be used to control an actuator.

This paper presents the application of certain intelligent techniques to control an industrial mixer. Control design is based on Hebbian modification of Fuzzy Cognitive Maps learning. This research study develops a Dynamic Fuzzy Cognitive Map (DFCM) based on Hebbian Learning algorithms. It was used Fuzzy Classic Controller to help validate simulation results of an industrial mixer of DFCM. Experimental analysis of simulations in this control problem was conducted. Additionally, the results were embedded using efficient algorithms into the arduino platform in order to acknowledge the performance of the codes reported in this paper.

Traditional wheelchairs which operate manully are difficult to use without the assistance of physical strength. This paper presents a model of an automated wheelchair for disabled people. The proposed wheelchair is battery powered and uses an arduino microcontroller to operate. The whole system consists of two parts, one of them is the sending end and another part is the receiving end. The sender end records instructions from the user's different hand gestures which are collected using an MPU-6050 gyro accelerometer sensor. The instructions are continuously recorded and sent to the receiver end using an RF transmitter-nRF24101 through an arduino microcontroller. At the receiving end, an nRF module receives the signal for mobilizing the wheelchair on a plain surface. Additionally, the device contains a Bluetooth module which can be used as a secondary control system. Hence our chair can be operated by a smartphone application too. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed model is functional under normal circumstances with a fast response time which can be very useful for disable people to commute with.

A sector of physically challenged people finds it very difficult to use traditional wheelchairs. Researchers have been working on computer-controlled chairs which utilize sensors and quick control algorithms to minimize the level of human intervention. This paper is based on a design that aids the voice activation system for physically disabled people by incorporating manual operation. arduino microcontroller and voice recognition have been used to support the movement of the wheelchair. The wheelchair does not respond to an incorrect speech command. Depending on the direction given through voice and gesture, the arduino controls the wheelchair directions. Ultrasonic sensors are used to detect obstacles. The prototype is designed in such a way that it can be used independently and efficiently with less effort. It saves time, reduces cost and energy of the users.

A method of construction for a multirobot exploration system is proposed here. The system consists of three main parts: a master controller, a communications layer, and multiple robots. The multirobot system searches for signal sources, which can be crucial in real-world applications, such as rescue missions. An experiment was conducted as a proof of concept for the validity of the multirobot system.

In this paper, an advanced radiation detecting rover system operated by a microcontroller is developed. It is well known that radiation related disasters can devastate a region by preventing humans from safely staying in these areas for long periods of time. Therefore, the use of unmanned rovers can help people recover information from inside these areas. The developed radiation detecting rover system contains a microcontroller, a rover, a Geiger counter, a camera, an LCD screen, and Xbee modems. The rover can travel through highly radiated areas via remote control while detecting radiation, returning information on radiation levels, and observing what is located in the area. At the same time, an arduino microcontroller operates the rover in order to maneuver and analyze information received by the video camera and the Geiger counter. In addition to developing and testing the system, the research methodology and design is summarized and future improvements are discussed.

Grass maintenance has typically been done by hand or with fossil fuel-powered machinery, which presents efficiency and environmental concerns. The proposed system examines these difficulties by creating an autonomous solar grass-cutting robot with a path-memorizing mechanism. Unlike traditional approaches, the innovative remedy improves lawn maintenance efficiency and sustainability by combining autonomous robotics and renewable energy sources. The robot uses advanced technology such as LiDAR, cameras, and neural networks to navigate and memorize optimal mowing patterns, increasing grass-cutting efficiency and coverage. Furthermore, using a solar power system with energy storage technology provides long-term operation without the need for fossil fuels. Compared to existing systems, the results show higher performance in terms of efficiency (95%), control complexity (10 signals), and grass-cutting quality (high uniformity and outstanding precision). The study represents an essential development in automated lawn maintenance technology, providing a viable alternative for effective and environmentally friendly grass management procedures.

In this section of Resonance, we invite readers to pose questions likely to be raised in a classroom situation. We may suggest strategies for dealing with them, or invite responses, or both. "Classroom" is equally a forum for raising broader issues and sharing personal experiences and viewpoints on matters related to teaching and learning science. A simple and inexpensive experimental setup for studying projectile motion using a low-cost projectile launcher and a microcontroller-based photogate timer is described. Using this setup, all three kinds of projectile motion (horizontal, oblique - ground to ground, and oblique - from a height) are studied.
