Development of a wireless intravenous drip rate monitoring device

Biotelemetry increases the efficiency of the healthcare professionals. This study proposes the development of a wireless-communication-enabled low-cost, automated drip rate monitoring system, used for intravenous (IV) therapy. The proposed system monitors the falling fluid drops inside the drip chamber, and subsequently calculates and displays the drip rate on a liquid crystal display (LCD) panel. It is capable of wirelessly notifying the central monitoring station when the drip rate is outside the set range. The system was designed using a light emitting diode (LED), a light-dependent resistor (LDR), a microcontroller and an Xbee wireless module. The proposed device is simple, user-friendly and can reduce the workload of the healthcare givers by reducing their regular visit to the patient site.

提出一种基于人工智能与物联网技术的家居门禁系统。以树莓派4B作为上位机、arduino作为下位机,依靠OpenCV开源计算机视觉库,实现面部识别;采用WiFi模块ESP32,达成通信联桥,实现无线通信;采用语音播报模块LD3320、震动传感器SW-180、红外传感器Fibocom L610、三轴加速度传感器ADXL345、舵机MG996R,实现语音控制、防盗报警等功能。对本面部识别系统进行测试,经过多次训练后,发现系统能够达到很高的面部识别率,且可通过人脸识别和门状态检测综合判断是否发出报警信号。系统识别灵敏、抗干扰性好,适用于各种场景下的人机交互。

本篇论文提出的“以模糊逻辑实现具自动追踪阳光功能的智慧型太阳能板”，其主要的用途是要让智慧型太阳能板能够自动的以最佳的角度去面对阳光，目的就是要使太阳能板能够发挥其最大的电能转换效率。本篇论文中的硬体，包含：个人电脑与相关介面、arduino uno板、驱动伺服马达的驱动电路板、伺服马达、及太阳能板等五大部份。软体则是以MATLAB程式语言所写的“模糊逻辑演算法”，其主要的用途是辨识太阳能板平台与大地之间的间隔角度。本篇论文将“智慧型太阳能板”，分成如下的三个过程说明，分别是：(1)训练过程：以各种不同的初始角度去驱动太阳能板，目的是要量测太阳能板在各种不同初始角度时所产生的左边电压与右边电压；(2)测试过程：依量测到之太阳能板的左边电压与右边电压，以模糊逻辑法辨识太阳能板平台与大地之间的真正间隔角度；(3)驱动过程：依计算得到的旋转角度，以arduino uno板及驱动电路板，两者共同来驱动伺服马达，目的是将太阳能板旋转到垂直对准阳光的最佳方向。最后，本文以多个实验来确认所提方法的效能。依据实验的结果，确认本篇论文所提的是一个简单有效的智慧型太阳能板。

Appropriate design of intrusion detection systems is extremely important to safeguard critical and valuable infrastructure. Telecommunications companies (TELCOs) and electric power utilities are experiencing an increased rate of rampant underground copper cable theft and vandalism. This paper addresses the important subject of combating the physical intrusion of critical infrastructure by proposing a low-cost, effective and unique manhole intrusion detection system. Manholes are openings to confined underground spaces that are used to access critical underground infrastructure and utilities such as sewer systems, electricity and telecommunication networks for maintenance and inspection. Critical infrastructure protection is very essential to avoid losses and incapacitations that would have a debilitating effect on economic activities, security, public health and safety, and so on. The increasing rate of rampant copper theft and vandalism could be attributed to the increased demand and high prices for copper on the black market. Critical infrastructure sectors such as TELCOs, electricity supply, water and rail transport are utilizing intrusion detection systems that only trigger an alarm when the critical infrastructure has already been vandalized or stolen. In this paper, we propose a low-cost and unique manhole intrusion detection system with notification stages devoted to safeguard critical infrastructure. Simulations of the system were performed before hardware implementation. The proposed system utilizes an arduino uno microcontroller and multiple sensors to trigger the intrusion stages early before the copper cables are vandalized. Due to the inclusion of three different additional sensors, the proposed system has an advantage of timely or early-stage intrusion detection. The response time is improved since the first alert is sent early before the actual cutting of the cable. The GSM messaging system is utilized as the alert mechanism during the intrusion stage

Investigation of errors in microcontroller interface circuit for mutual inductance sensor

This paper proposes direct microcontroller interface circuit on arduino platform, which is realized using the inductive sensors. The circuit is composed of two external resistors and two reference inductors resulting in four RL circuits. The microcontroller independently excites the two RL circuit on the primary side in order to measure the discharging time of voltage across each inductor. The discharging time of voltage across the inductors on the secondary side is measured similarly which is excited due to mutual inductance from the primary side. The technique of time-to-digital conversion from the built-in timer of microcontroller enables estimation of inductance value, which is compared with the actual value for self inductance and mutual inductance circuits. Error analysis on the discharge time measurement are performed viz, parasitic resistance, parasitic capacitance on input-output ports along with ringing effects and relative quantization error. The resistance and inductance estimation with regards to varying time period of oscillation of crystal is performed to analyze the effect of oscillation frequency on estimation. The parasitic resistance and quantization effects both contribute to the non-linearity errors (NLE) which is investigated further experimentally. The optimum value of the resistance was observed to be 120 Omega and 60 Omega for the primary and secondary side respectively. For primary side, the current and power consumption is 29 mA and 145 mW respectively, while for the secondary side, the current and power consumption is 27.5 mA and 137.5 mW respectively. The maximum NLE of -0.18 %FSS and -0.24 %FSS has been observed for an inductance range of 1 mH-10 mH along both primary and secondary sides respectively, whereas for an inductance range of 10 mH-100 mH, the NLE achieved was 0.29 %FSS and -0.34 %FSS for the primary and secondary sides respectively. In the present condition industrial loading and unloading of heavy loads manually is one of the most important objectives which turn out to be quite difficult, time-consuming and risky for humans. In this modern era robots are being developed for various purposes to accomplish many tasks which seem to be too complex for humans. The advantage of using robots, for industrial purpose have been excellent in terms of speed and efficiency of doing required tasks compared to that of humans. To solve this problem we have designed a robot named SARGoT. This robot has got mainly three features and they are: Path-Tracking. Avoiding Collision, Loading and Unloading heavy industrial goods. The autonomous robot is designed to start its movement from a starting position where goods are loaded on it, then follow a black track and unload goods by itself after reaching a destination place. Infrared sensor has been mounted in the front of the robot so that the sensor can detect path by emitting and receiving signals allowing it to move in the predefined path having left and right turns to carry goods from starting position to the destination position. arduino uno has been used for the coding section and the control circuit of the robot has been implemented for controlling the robot’s movement within the defined track. The robot has been designed in such a way that it has the ability to avoid collision with any obstacles that come in its way. Ultrasonic sensor has been used in the robot to send the signal and detect the presence of any obstacle that may appear in the robot’s track and stop momentarily for certain time until the obstacle move away. Building an industrial robot with moderate Speed, good efficiency in loading and unloading purpose within a short time to ease human suffering has been the main objective of this paper.

There are about 253 million people in the world living with visual impairment, of which about 36 million are blind. 217 million people have moderate to severe vision impairment. It is very important to consider the difficulties of visually impaired people to help them perform with their daily activities. Through sensation, these people identify and understand the obstacles. VIZIYON is a device based on IoT system for identifying obstacles, in a cost-effective manner. In this device, the identification is carried out based on the distance vector and object detection. The object recognition is done using the concept of Convolutional Neural Network. The device is able to identify the objects with an accuracy of 91% and recall of 94%.

The uncollected waste material when the waste bin is full is a common problem nowadays. Thus, an efficient waste management for the waste material is essential in ensuring a clean and green surrounding environment. This paper presents an Internet of Things (IoT) based Smart Waste Collection Monitoring and Alert System to monitor the waste material at the selected site of garbage collection area. The system is implemented using an ultrasonic sensor which is connected to arduino uno as to monitor waste bin garbage level. In this system, waste bin depth level will be sent via arduino Ethernet Shield with an Internet connection to the Ubidots IoT Cloud. The Ubidots store the collected waste bin level data into IoT database and display the waste bin depth level on online dashboard for real-time visualization. The Ubidots Event manager invoke a notification alert to garbage collector mobile phone via a SMS when the waste bin is nearly filled for immediate waste collection. Therefore, the waste collection became more effective and systematic.

The most effective leg processes resembling a spider leg are currently, Joe Klan system, and the Jansen mechanism, which also resembles a human leg. Owing to more practicality and effectiveness, Joe Klan's approach was prioritized. The wheel has been the fundamental element used in all forms of mechanical conveyance since its inception in the Stone Age. However, because of short-term development effects on things like small staircases, obstacles, agricultural regions, and steep, jagged rock piles, wheels have always had significant downsides. Designers contemplate on animal and human legs as a solution to these issues. The present study's major objective is to develop a replacement for the purpose of wheels utilized for seeding, spraying, and removing the grass in order to address the problems which move through agricultural areas. In addition to assemble the pieces that are already on the market, the robot may be remotely directed to cut the grass in an agricultural region.

Electromagnetic devices have become increasingly important within the manufacturing industries and their applications ranges from memory devices, semiconductors to medical and bio-mechatronics (i.e. in the testing of medicines and observation of human internal organs). However, due to high cost and availability, the equipment capable of measuring the magnetic field of humane treatment and observations are difficult to acquire. This work is carried out to develop resources that can be widely adopted for the purpose of presenting science based medical results involved in bio-mechatronics analysis and present science based instrumentation strategy. Effect sensors were incorporated with an arduino uno microcontroller to serve as the interface between the sensors and the material. The basic parameters of an electric, magnetic and electromagnetic field were established for Histeresimetro development. This would reduce the problem of measuring magnetic fields and sort different materials according to their behavior when subjected to electromagnetic fields. The proposed strategy could also be adopted to measure the degree of hysteresis of materials at a lower cost. (C) 2017 Brazilian Metallurgical, Materials and Mining Association.
