Non-invasive blood glucose measurement is advantageous as it reduces the healthcare cost and pain of taking blood sample through existing invasive methods. The proposed system uses near-infrared sensors of 940nm wavelength to detect glucose concentration in blood. The glucose concentration is calculated based on the variation in the voltage after passing through finger. The output voltage is converted into glucose concentration using the algorithm developed in arduino uno. An accuracy of 97.5% was obtained.

World Health Organization (WHO) 2018 report says that 31% of global deaths are due to cardiovascular diseases. If no initiative is taken to check this most predictable and preventable among all chronic diseases, the world will have to suffer from billions of heart patients. India has the highest incidence of heart related diseases in the world and also it has one doctor for every 10,189 people though WHO suggests one doctor for 600 people [11]. The main aim of this work is to enable the doctors for early detection of cardiac disorder and save the life of heart patients. This work may be suitable for Tele-Cardiology application of Tele-Medicine which has a unique capacity to improve the health care service to millions of rural people. Cardiac arrhythmias classification has become an active research area over the last two decades. Further, from a literature survey, it is identified that finding an efficient feature scheme is a major challenge to enhance classification accuracy of cardiac disorders. Existing feature extraction methods may not be sufficient to detect the possibility of cardiac disorders as ECG is a quasi-periodic, nonlinear and non-stationary signal. Hence, in this paper, it is proposed to use a wavelet transform technique to extract ECG features. These features are used to classify seven types of cardiac arrhythmias (Cardiac Ischemia, Ventricular Tachycardia, Supra Ventricular Tachycardia, Ventricular Fibrillation, Atrial Fibrillation, Sudden Cardiac Arrest including Normal Sinus Rhythm). Multi-Layer Perceptron neural network classifier is proposed for this classification. Neural networks are strongly capable of learning and prediction which makes them an efficient tool to deal with nonlinear problems depending on their training data set size. With this proposed work, the classification accuracy is obtained as 98.8% and the medical statistics are obtained as Sensitivity (S) 97.6%, Positive Predictivity (Pp)-98.7% and Specificity (Sp)-99.7%. This paper describes the design of a portable galvanic skin response (GSR) sensor for pain sensors. GSR sensors can measure electricity change in the skin. The signal results obtained are used to collect autonomic nerve responses as a function parameter of sweat ties. This response can increase the electrical conductance or increase the resistance in the palm. GSR is a psychological change in the skin resulting from the changes in sweat gland activity; at the time, the sweat glands will be active when the body is in a state of pain. This prototype was made to measure the conductivity of the skin, and the activity based on light blows to the arms. Measurement was delayed by 1 minute to let the body rest before receiving physical impulse. The total time taken for the measurement is 4 minutes. This prototype uses an arduino uno microcontroller as an analog to digital signal processor, and the results will be sent to a PC using Bluetooth HC-05 via a serial plotter for display. The purpose of this research is to develop a prototype portable GSR sensor for pain sensors in the human body. The additional value of this research is to use Bluetooth as a data transfer to make it easier to use. The results of this study succeeded in developing a prototype portable galvanic skin response with good sensor sensitivity by verifying the data using a commercial galvanic sensor module.

In this paper, a holistic methodology has been followed to gauge the quality of service for real-time attendance system. The experiment was done to compare the performance of an attendance server which will be cost-effective but reliable. To reduce the cost, users are connected to the biometric attendance device with a local server where the data is updated instantly. As a result, the chance of data loss is almost none. The available devices in the market are very expensive whereas our complete system may cost around USD50. On the other hand, most of the devices produce multiple data for a single user on a specific day as the data fetched from the internal memory of the respective device. But our proposed system provides a very well-ordered data for easy tracking of attendance. Moreover, our proposed framework requires a marginal power to drive the whole system. The complete system can be implemented using regular hardware and software at a very low cost.

Internet of Things (IoT) plays a pivotal part in our mundane daily life by controlling electronic devices using networks. The controlling is done by minutely observing the important parameters which generate vital pieces of information concerning the functioning of these electronic devices. Simultaneously, this information will transmit these vital statistics from the transmitting device as well as save the same on the cloud to access by the applications and supplementary procedures to use them. This scrutiny associates the outcomes of the environmental observances like the humidity and temperature measurements using sensors. The gathered information could be profitably used to produce actions like distantly dominant cooling, heating devices, or long term statistics, which will be useful to control the same. The detected data are uploaded to the cloud storage through network and associate using android application. The system employs arduino uno with Raspberry Pi, HTU 211D sensor device, and an ESP8266 Wi-Fi module. The experimental results show the live temperature and humidity of the surroundings and the soil moisture of any plant using arduino uno with Raspberry Pi. Raspberry Pi is mainly used here for checking the temperature and humidity through the HTU 211D sensor element. The sensors are used for measuring the temperatures from the surroundings, storing displayed information with different devices. Here, the ESP8266 Wi-Fi module has been used for data storing purpose.

Widespread deployment of mobile and embedded devices in everyday use has brought up not only new concepts and application areas such as Internet-of-Things (IoT) but also several security and privacy problems. In theory, it is possible to mitigate most of these problems by implementing well-known and standardized security algorithms and techniques on IoT devices. However, in practice, it is rather difficult, if not impossible, to implement standard security algorithms on these devices due to their limited resources and processing power. Instead, algorithms specifically tailored for such devices, which are also known as lightweight algorithms, are favored. In this thesis, we will investigate the suitability and adaptability of the lightweight cryptographic algorithms on IoT devices, and compare their implementations with those of standard algorithms. We will realize our implementations on the arduino uno, which is widely used in several embedded applications and preferred as a target development platform for its low price-performance ratio. We will mainly focus on block ciphers and hash functions, which are the fundamental components of many cryptographic protocols. Among these protocols, Internet Protocol Security (IPSec) suite and DTLS are perhaps from the most well-known and commonly used ones. With our study, we plan to provide results that may be guidelines for existing and future lightweight implementations of IPSec, DTLS and other security protocols on IoT devices.

Irrigation sector consumes more than 80% of the fresh water resources in India. The irrigation efficiencies of the major irrigation systems in India are around 40%, increasing of which could save large amounts of water. The irrigation efficiencies could be increased through the adoption of cost-effective and efficient irrigation technologies, which will reduce water demands, increase agricultural production, minimize soil and water pollution and reduce the cost of agricultural production. Drip/Trickle irrigation is a highly efficient irrigation method which could save tremendous amounts of water when adopted in the place of the wild flooding irrigation. Pulse drip irrigation technology enables lower application rates - that will permit sufficient aeration in the root zone and alleviate plant stress due to inadequate root respiration– from an emitter with a higher application rate by intermittent water applications. This study attempted to develop and evaluate a sensor based automated pulse drip irrigation system which is affordable to the lowincome farmers of the nation. The soil properties of the experimental field were used to estimate the parameters of several soil water characteristics curve (SWCC) models. Among the models; van Genuchten (1980) model of SWCC, was found to be the best in representing the soil moisture retention characteristics of the soil used in the study. An open-source electronics platform, the arduino was used for the development of the automation system using moisture content sensors and solenoid irrigation valves controlled through relays, by writing program coding in the arduino programming language. The sensors were calibrated to read the moisture content, which was compared to the management allowed deficit (MAD) and field capacity (FC) soil moisture content values to control the start and stop of irrigation water application. In the paper, the background radiation monitoring system has been developed. It has been built on the arduino uno microcontroller board, Geiger-Mueller counters, alphanumeric LCD module and high-voltage power supply module for counters. The system measures power of the equivalent radiation dose and accumulated dose and outputs the information via the serial port to PC, and also sends warning signals when the equivalent dose rate is exceeded.

The presented fire suppression mechanism is a self-monitoring system that detects the existence of fire between a specific range of wavelength and suppresses the fire by spreading water flowing via multiple sprinkler-heads. The controlling unit used to manipulate the fire suppression mechanism is an arduino uno. The major advantage of this system is its capability to detect fire fast and run water through dedicated pipes using solenoid valve. Fire is an undesirable event that could cause a great loss of social wealth, human life, and confidential amenities. To prevent these losses, various extinguishing systems have already been developed, such as sprinkler heads with temperature sensitive valve and temperature sensor based systems. These systems come with a high chance of delayed sensing and human error that can mislead the sensing and hence the whole system in general. Our fire suppression system, on the other hand, is extremely well thought out;it has no chance of human error as it is fully self-sufficient. The room or the area will have dedicated overhead sprinklers connected to the water supply through its dedicated solenoid valve which controls the flow of water in the pipelines. The triggering devices of this system are the flame sensors, when they detect fire an alarm will go off. The Algorithm set in the arduino will come into work and an optimal voltage will be provided to the solenoid valve through a relay, hence water will rush out the sprinklers to extinguish the fire in no time. The sensors used are highly sensitive[ 5], thus it will detect fire even before it reaches a point of concern. Unlike other systems, the components we used are readily available and reasonable in price. Also, the system has been tested to extinguish fire in real-world scale. Our automated fire suppression system can be used both for commercial and residential purposes.
