With the scale of Internet of Things (IoT) continually expanding, the topology is growing rapidly and the probability of cascading collapse due to node failures or malicious attacks is increasing. The decrease in the Quality of Service (QoS) of IoT could be mitigated by robust topology. Existing optimization strategies usually use heuristic algorithms to enhance topology robustness. However, when the scale of topology is large, these algorithms involve a significant amount of iterative searching for the optimal solution, which is time-consuming and prone to getting stuck into local optimum. To tackle this situation, this study introduces arithmetic encoding and proposes a novel probability-based robust topology generation model that can quickly generate IoT robust topology. We losslessly compress robust topologies using arithmetic encoding and extract their features. Based on the extracting features, we design a unique probability-based topology generation approach that avoids the time overhead of iterative calculations. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed solution in this paper can construct robust topologies in less time for different network scales.

Memristive memories have received significant interest for application to on-chip storage. A multi-bit memristive memory circuit architecture based on arithmetic coding is presented in this paper. Both read and write circuits are presented which encode information into the memristive data cells. The proposed circuits provide fine control of the resistance within the memristor. The continuous resistance characteristic of memristive devices is exploited to provide additional storage by utilizing compression techniques. This approach yields an increase in overall bit density for a memristor based data array as compared to a standard multi-bit cell array.

In conventional video coding, motion compensation is commonly being used to remove the temporal redundancy. But the computational complexity introduced by the motion compensation can he very high, especially when the full search is adopted. The 3DSPIHT resolves this problem by replacing the motion compensation with the temporal wavelet transform, which require lower computational complexity. However, the performance of the 3DSPIHT is optimal only when arithmetic coding (AC) is incorporated. This contradicts the initial idea of reducing the computational complexity with the wavelet transform, because the computational complexity introduced by AC is sufficiently high. In this paper, an efficient binary-uncoded algorithm for video coding called the 3DSPIHT-ZTR is proposed. The idea is to re-introduce the use of ZTR symbol, which is initially used in the Embedded Zerotree Wavelet (EZW) algorithm, into 3DSPIHT. In addition, the significant offspring are also encoded in a slightly different way to further enhance the performance. The performance of 3DSPIHT-Z'I'R is approximately 1.5 dB better than the conventional 3DSPIHT in terms of PSNR. Its performance is also comparable to 3DSPIHT with AC under certain circumstances.

RFID equipment usually makes use of EPC which has many unexploited codewords. Actually, the unexploited codewords are the vast majority of the codewords. When there is a code with so many unexploited codewords, many compression algorithms can significantly reduce the average codeword size. In this paper we explain how to select the most effective compression algorithm for RFID equipment.

This paper presents Reversible Color Transmission of Compressed Fragment - Visible Mosaic Image of the same size for hiding the secret image. By applying the digital watermarking on mosaic image using DWT and PCA transformation increase the security, authentication, copyright protection and all types of internet applications. Most commonly used methods of watermarking are discrete cosine transform (DCT), discrete wavelet transform (DWT). A hybrid digital image watermarking scheme based on Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) and Principal Component Analysis (PCA). These transform domain technique provides criteria of imperceptibility as well as robustness than Discrete Cosine Transform and Discrete Wavelet Transform. The proposed method, originally designed for dealing with color images. An additional approach here is used to enhance the embedded watermark data security is also proposed. The proposed scheme is tested using a number of images. Experimental result shows no visible difference between the recovered secret image and original secret image. It also calculated RMSE, MSSIM, PSNR and NC values of the watermarked image which give good result than previous method. Good experimental results show the quality of being doable of the proposed method.

This paper describes a novel lossless compression method for point cloud geometry, building on a recent lossy compression method that aimed at reconstructing only the bounding volume of a point cloud. The proposed scheme starts by partially reconstructing the geometry from the two depthmaps associated to a single projection direction. The partial reconstruction obtained from the depthmaps is completed to a full reconstruction of the point cloud by sweeping section by section along one direction and encoding the points which were not contained in the two depthmaps. The main ingredient is a list-based encoding of the inner points (situated inside the feasible regions) by a novel arithmetic three dimensional context coding procedure that efficiently utilizes rotational invariances present in the input data. State-of-the-art bits-per-voxel results are obtained on benchmark datasets.

A novel architecture of ML-decomposed binary arithmetic coder is proposed. Through the analysis of previous designs, the traditional processing unit is divided into two parts, MPS encoder and LPS encoder. With different arrangements of these two basic components, we develop two types of MLdecomposed structures. To increase the throughput of arithmetic coding, ML cascade architecture puts the coders in serial, while through p ut-selection architecture offers several choices in parallel. Their design methodologies are described in this paper. Both methods achieve very high throughput, more than 800M symbols/see. And they are configurable and extensible to supply a wide range of specifications. Moreover, the proposed architecture can be used in binary arithmetic coding of various video and image standards.

In previous work, the authors developed a modular no-reference framework that compresses FASTA files by applying a predict-and-residue method, as used in video coding. We extended this framework with support for Context-Adaptive Binary arithmetic coding (CABAC), while at the same time preserving random access functionality and offering support for the full IUB/IUPAC nucleic acid codes alphabet. © 2016 IEEE.

In recent years, many visions for hitherto considered-futuristic computing applications gained momentum. The vision of smart factories is one example for these trends, which all share a common requirement: the prolific dissemination of sensor information. As wireless communication in smart factories needs to cope with harsh environments, the amount of sensor information produced by sources will likely surpass the communication channel's available capacity. This discrepancy calls for efficient communication and filtering protocols, as well as compression mechanisms, as a foundation for dependable applications. We propose such a compression algorithm that is lossless and tailored towards the requirements of the manufacturing industry. Our algorithm employs a two-step stochastic model that uses lossy compression to extract an approximation from the signal and a separate noise model to accommodate the remaining error. Evaluation results validate that our algorithm achieves better compression rates than existing approaches for several types of real world sensor data from the industry.

The Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) has limitations in bandwidth and computational resources as they have limited communication and storage capabilities. WSN consists of cameras, which have some local image processing and one or more central computers, where image data from multiple cameras is further processed and fused. Because of these limitations, the encoding techniques used for transmitting the image data should be efficient in order to make use of the available resources properly. A new sampling method is also introduced in the Image/video encoder of the WSN called Compressed Sensing (CS), which is the process of acquiring and reconstructing a signal that is supposed to be sparse or compressible, thus reducing the computational complexity. The image is divided into dense and sparse components by applying 2 levels of wavelet transform. The dense component uses the standard encoding procedure such as JPEG and the sparse measurements obtained from the sparse components are encoded by the techniques such as Exponential Golomb coding followed by Run-length encoding and arithmetic coding and the performances in terms of compression ratio and bits per pixel are compared. The recovery algorithm may be anyone supporting the compressed sensing technique such as OMP, POCS etc. In this work, the measurements (used in CS) and the predicted sparse components as the initial values, the projection onto convex set (POCS) recovery algorithm is used to get back the original sparse components of two levels and hence the original image by applying the inverse of transform to the dense and recovered sparse components.
