This paper proposes a solution for strong mobility of composed Web services. In fact, strong mobility enables a running BPEL process to be migrated from a host to another and to be resumed on the destination host starting from a previous execution state called also checkpoint which avoids the high overhead of restarting the composed Web service in case of interruption of the BPEL process. The proposed solution makes use of aspect-oriented programming (AOP) in order to enable dynamic capture and recovery of a BPEL process state. This will enable the choose, at runtime, of the instant of the checkpoint and the technique for enacting it. Thus, the proposed approach may be used for self-healing and self-adaptivity of composed Web services acting in case of failure or QoS violation. An experimentation has been performed on a Travel agency case study deployed on the AO4BPEL engine. It shows the efficiency and the usability of our approach.

We propose in this paper a new approach for the dynamic enforcement of Web services security, which is based on a synergy between aspect-oriented programming (AOP) and composition of Web services. Security policies are specified as aspects. The elaborated aspects are then weaved (integrated) in the Business Process Execution Language (BPEL) process at runtime. The main contributions of our approach are threefold: (1) separating the business and security concerns of composite Web services, and hence developing them separately (2) allowing the modification of the Web service composition at run time and (3) providing modularity for modeling cross-cutting concerns between Web services. We demonstrate the feasibility of our approach by developing a Flight System (FS) that is composed of several Web services. First, a RBAC (Role Based Access Control) model for the flight system, which we called RBAC-FS, is elaborated. Afterwards, the Web services that implement the security features are developed. Finally, the BPEL aspects that integrate the security functionalities dynamically into the BPEL process are created. The devised aspects realize the elaborated RBAC-FS model and provide authentication and access control features to the flight system. Case studies and experimental results are also presented to defend our propositions.

aspect oriented programming (AOP) aims at addressing the problem of the crosscutting concerns (e. g. logging, validation, transaction etc.), those functionalities that are scattered among several modules in a given system. aspects can be defined to modularize such concerns. In this work, we focus on the most popular MVC pattern in software architecture pattern, and introduce the aspect-oriented programming ideas into the MVC model with Unified Modeling Language (UML), also we propose a model of aspectoriented MVC pattern, which extracts crosscutting concerns of going through the system to form an aspect layer and uses the configuration file to statement the point of weaving. To assess the effects of the idea on MVC pattern, an actual system is carried out. In the end, we report the results of the pattern of the feasibility and superiority.

Component-based software development (CBSD) has been got considerable adoption in software industry, but it is still lack of language support to ensure proper interactions among components, i.e. modularity assurance, which usually causes the software hard to maintain and evolve because of the improper dependencies among the components. In this paper, we propose an AOP approach to ensure that the interactions among components are strictly conformed to the sated API usage policies of the components. Also, by using AOP, we can separate the constraints violation checking code from the normal functional code via the so called aspects, thus improving the software quality by separation of concern. Experiment using aspectJ as the AOP implementation technique shows that the performance is comparable to the non embedded code.

Feature-oriented programming (FOP) has been widely described as an effective way to realize Product Line (PL) and to derive PL members. A case study on Berkeley DB revealed some difficulties in applying FOP for PL using compositional approach aspectJ. Here we study the features of Berkeley DB, which were obtained as a result of Feature-oriented Refactoring (FOR). We enumerate ways in which these features interact with the base program at different granularities and multiplicity, and also with each other. We discuss a solution based on an annotative approach using XVCL, and evaluate both approaches(aspectJ and XVCL) with respect to simplicity, extensibility, modularity, and maintenance. Our study shows that each approach has its own merits and drawbacks, depending on the type of feature interaction and mechanisms it provides for feature composition. ©2010 IEEE.

The emergence of aspect-oriented programming (AOP) languages has provided software designers with new mechanisms and strategies for decomposing programs into modules and composing modules into systems. What we do not yet fully understand is how best to use such mechanisms consistent with common modularization objectives such as the comprehensibility of programming code, its parallel development, dependability, and ease of change. The main contribution of this work is a new form of information-hiding interface for AOP that we call the crosscut programming interface, or XPI. XPIs abstract crosscutting behaviors and make these abstractions explicit. XPIs can be used, albeit with limited enforcement of interface rules, with existing AOP languages, such as aspectJ. To evaluate our notion of XPIs, we have applied our XPI-based design methodology to a medium-sized network overlay application called Hypercast. A qualitative and quantitative analysis of existing AO design methods and XPI-based design method shows that our approach produces improvements in program comprehensibility, in opportunities for parallel development, and in the ease when code can be developed and changed.

Through implicit invocation, procedures are called without explicitly referencing them. Implicit announcement adds to this implicitness by not only keeping implicit which procedures are called, but also where or when-under implicit invocation with implicit announcement, the call site contains no signs of that, or what it calls. Recently, aspect-oriented programming has popularized implicit invocation with implicit announcement as a possibility to separate concerns that lead to interwoven code if conventional programming techniques are used. However, as has been noted elsewhere, as currently implemented it establishes strong implicit dependencies between components, hampering independent software development and evolution. To address this problem, we present a type-based modularization of implicit invocation with implicit announcement that is inspired by how interfaces and exceptions are realized in JAVA. By extending an existing compiler and by rewriting several programs to make use of our proposed language constructs, we found that the imposed declaration clutter tends to be moderate;in particular, we found that, for general applications of implicit invocation with implicit announcement, fears that programs utilizing our form of modularization become unreasonably verbose are unjustified.

oriented programming (AOP) is good at solving the difficulty in Object-oriented programming (OOP) of crosscutting concerns,and loosens the system from higher standpoints. Based on the characteristics of web application system,this paper introduces the AOP idea into it,and designs a kind of multi-player architecture based on MVC,emphasizes on the analysis of crosscutting concerns in web system,including authorization,exception,logging and time *** use of the aspectJ language,we design implementations to solve these crosscutting concerns to distributed enterprise web-based systems based on J2EE platform. In the end,comparing with OOP,we make a summary of the advantage of AOP,and list some items of most practice with aspectJ[4,6,8].

This implies that in the presence of aspects, the complete interface of a module can only be determined once the complete configuration of modules in the system is known. While this may seem anti-modular, it is an inherent property of crosscutting concerns, and using aspect-oriented programming enables modular reasoning in the presence of such concerns.

Properties such as logging, persistence, debugging, tracing, distribution, performance monitoring and exception handling occur in most programming paradigms and are normally very difficult or even impossible to modularize with traditional modularization mechanisms because they are crosscutting. Recently, aspect-oriented programming has enjoyed recognition as a practical solution for separating these concerns. In this paper we describe an extension to the Stratego term rewriting language for capturing such properties. We show our aspect language offers a concise, practical and adaptable solution for dealing with unanticipated algorithm extension for forward data-flow propagation and dynamic type checking of terms. We briefly discuss some of the challenges faced when designing and implementing an aspect extension for and in a rule-based term rewriting system.
