PoCH: automatic HDL code generator tool for Polar channel coding decoders in multimedia communication systems

Polar codes are a class of block codes which are widely used in communication networks. Polar codes have been utilized in the fifth generation of enhanced mobile broadband systems (5G) due to their performance in error correction and also their low instinct complexity in implementation. However when they come in very large blocks, their efficient implementation in reasonable time is challenging. The automatic code generator (ACG) tools are useful and essential in these cases, when the design process should be error prone and time consuming. This paper presents an error prone and fast ACG tool to generate the VHDL description code at gate level for Polar decoders in multimedia communication systems according to user adjusted parameters including code-length, code-rate and quantization width, called PoCH tool. The PoCH constructs the Polar decoder using the design SNR and Bhattacharyya parameters which are set by the user, or are provided by a file consisting of the frozen bits location. The PoCH can generate the Polar decoder for four famous algorithms including SC, SSC, Fast-SSC and Fast-SSC + BiREP algorithms. To validate the performance of the PoCH tool, the block counts is presented for each generated code for various code-length, code-rate and Bhattacharyya parameters. Finally, the time consumed by the tool to generate Polar channel decoders for each algorithm is compared.

Definition and implementation of every system starts from its specification. After the developer received the verified specification, she can move to the code writing. Recently, modelling is used as the first step to the programming task. Unified Modeling Language (UML) is intensively exploited in order to standardize the code generation and to minimize the corresponding effort. Screen based interactive systems like smartphone applications or different booking services are of very special kind: GUI part of them is very big and mostly implements different screens and transitions from one screen to another. In our contribution, we provide general description and proof of concept of a graphical tool for such systems. First of all, the tool allows definition of the specification of the screen based systems in the most natural way - graphically. This avoid using of UML or similar formalisms as a less intuitive human dependent intermediate step. Then, given the specification of a screen based system, we show that a big part of the implementation (GUI code) may be generated automatically. We show how our general approach works for Android based implementation of the specification.

A flowchart can be a graphic diagram representation of a programming logic. There are shapes and connectors that represent the different types of actions or steps in a process. A flowchart is a very important tool in the planning phase in a program development cycle. Programmers can use it to design and develop an algorithm of a program. Moreover, a flowchart is also very effective for visual learners to write and comprehend algorithms in computer programming courses. This paper aims to provide a tool which serves as an automatic code generator using a structured flowchart. The tool is composed of basic flowchart shapes to be combined into a structured flowchart that can be converted into source codes. In addition, the system's performance has been evaluated by two groups: 5 experts and 93 general users. The results showed the average values of the satisfaction levels were 4.48 and 4.27 with standard deviations at 0.59 and 0.64 for the experts and the general users respectively. It was found that the system performance of the tool reached an agree level. It was revealed that the developed system can be used precisely as intended in an effective manner.

Recently, there has been a growing interest in integrating NMPC in automotive applications in order to make driving more intelligent and ecological. One major challenge in the way of developing Nonlinear Model Predictive Controllers for automotive systems is to reach sub-millisecond computation times for real-time applications. C/GMRES and Newton/GMRES are fast optimization methods demonstrating promising results. This paper develops an Ecological Cruise Control for a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle, and then presents a comparison between the two aforementioned optimizers in terms of accuracy and speed. Simulation results tested on a high-fidelity model of Toyota Prius in Autonomie identify C/GMRES method slightly faster than Newton/GMRES method with approximately the same accuracy in the solution.

Simulating the cost of applications running on large clusters of processors poses difficulties in model definition and simulation. In this paper we propose a methodology to ease this burden. The user specifies a model describing it as a timed coloured Petri Net in a graphical manner by using a tool like CPN tool. The model is automatically converted into a XML specification. Then a code generator converts the XML file into C++ code which is linked to a simulation kernel. The result is an efficient and scalable simulation program that can be executed sequentially or in parallel on either single multi-core processors or cluster of multi-core processors. We illustrate the suitability of our proposal by modelling and simulating the cost of message passing in a Fat-tree network which is commonly used to support communication in cluster of processors.

This paper presents the development of a correct-by-construction block sequencer for GENE;AUTO(1) a qualifiable (according to DO178B/ED12B recommendation) automatic code generator. It transforms SIMULINK models to MISRA C code for safety critical systems. Our approach which combines classical development process and formal specification and verification using proof-assistants, led to preliminary fruitful exchanges with certification authorities. We present parts of the classical user and tools requirements and derived formal specifications, implementation and verification for the correctness and termination of the block sequencer. This sequencer has been successfully applied to real-size industrial use cases from various transportation domain partners and led to requirement errors detection and a correct-by-construction implementation.

Today, million of people use web application every day not only to read some type of information but also to. execute business process tasks. It is very important, in this context, to provide a structured approach to the web application design that allows to manage not only information and navigation but also business process support. Parallel to the methodology, code generator tool are being born: they, starting from the model, allows to obtain the final web application. code generator born thanks to the new technologies that helps on the hard task of generate, starting from the model, the overall web application code. In this paper we show the design and implementation of a web application code generator using an innovative web application development framework that is Spring Web Flow. The final user of the Web Application will be able to navigate between information contents and to execute several business process steps.

There exists a vast literature on nonuniform random variate generators. Most of these generators are especially designed for a particular distribution. However, in pratice only a few of these are available to practioners. Moreover, for problems as (e.g.) sampling from the truncated normal distribution or sampling from fairly uncommon distributions there are often no algorithms available. In the last decade so called universal methods have been developed for these cases. The resulting algorithms are fast and have properties that make them attractive even for standard distributions. In this contribution we describe the concept of automatic random variate generation where these methods are used to produce a single piece of code in a high level programming language. Using a web-based front-end to such a program this is an easy-to-use source for researchers and programmers for high quality generators for a large class of distributions. Using our UNURAN library we have implemented such a system, which is accessable at http://***/anuran. (C) 2003 IMACS. Published by Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
