The use of floating-gate elements on analog circuits has increased over the last few years. Floating-gate transistors are been used for analog multiplication, memory storage, on-chip bias, offset removals, etc. Complex systems, such as imagers and filter arrays, use thousands to millions of programmable floating-gate elements. The programming speed and precision of these elements plays a major role on the performance of these systems. In this paper we present a system approach that allows for automatic rapid programming of large arrays of floating-gates. We achieve this by optimizing all the time consuming tasks involved in the programming, such as current measurements and drain pulsing among others.

Selection pressure must be dynamically managed in response to the changing evolutionary process in order to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of genetic programming (GP) systems using tournament selection. Instead of changing the tournament size and/or the population size via an arbitrary function to influence the selection pressure, this paper focuses on designing an automatic selection pressure control approach. In our approach, populations are clustered based on a dynamic program property. Then clusters become tournament candidates. The selection pressure in the tournament selection method is automatically changed during evolution according to the dynamically changing number of tournament candidates. Our approach is compared with the standard GP system (with no selection pressure control) on two problems with different kinds of fitness distributions. The results show that the automatic selection pressure control approach can improve the effectiveness and efficiency of GP systems

The purpose of this project is to develop a system that is able to generate strategies for the multi-agent system proposed by the RoboCup Four-Legged league. This system starts with different soccer match situations established by the user, and uses evolutionary programming as a means to make the process automatic. Given the nature of soccer, it is easy to see that the different situations that make up this game can have radically different local objectives, even if the ultimate goal of the game is one and the same: to score more goals than your opponent. This is why the system will focus on generating strategies for very specific scenarios (for example, the behavior a goalkeeper must take when it is kicking off and it has an opponent player in front of him), that will both allow us to adjust the fitness function as much as possible, and to generate state machines that are as specialized and optimized as they can be for the situation they focus on. The aforementioned system runs over a simulator developed by Vega et al. (2006), which takes behaviors defined in XML as state machines in order to define players from these data. This gives us both the advantage of quickly testing the validity of the results obtained from a given run of the behavior generator, and it also allows us to easily adapt these results on the AIBOs on later stages. The present paper details work done so far to generate complex behaviors with a genetic algorithm and shows that this is possible. This paper presents a mathematical model between virtual cone and aspheric surface equations, and discusses the technology of uniform wear of grinding wheel and error compensation in aspheric machining. Finally, a software system for high precision aspheric surface manufacturing is designed and realized, based on the mentioned above. For detecting malicious codes, a classification method of support vector machine (SVM) based on rough set theory(RST) is proposed. The original sample data is preprocessed with the knowledge reduction algorithm of RST, and the redundant features and conflicting samples are eliminated from the working sample dataset to reduce space dimension of sample data. Then the preprocessed sample data is used as training sample data of SVM. By utilizing SVM, the generalizing ability of detection system is still good even the sample dataset size is small. Experiment results show that the proposed detection system needs few priori knowledge and can improve the training speed and precision of classification.

We have developed a computer-aided detection system for detecting lung nodules, which generally appear as circular areas of high opacity on serial-section CT images. Our method detected the regions of interest (ROIs) using the density values of pixels in CT images and scanning the pixels in 8 directions by using various thresholds. Then to reduce the number of ROIs the amounts of change in their locations based on the upper and the lower slices were examined, and finally a nodule template based algorithm was employed to categorize the ROIs according to their morphologies. To test the system's efficiency, we applied it to 276 normal and abnormal CT images of 12 patients with 153 nodules. The experimental results showed that using three templates with diameters 8, 14 and 20 pixels, the system achieved 91%, 94% and 95% sensitivities with 0.7, 0.98 and 1.17 false positives per image respectively.
