Video coding systems includes motion compensation, frequency transformation, quantization, and lossless or entropy coding. For applications like, video playback, the time complexity of the decoder is an important issue. Motion estimation (ME) is the most time constraint modules of video coding technique, and the frequency transformation/inverse transformation also consume a considerable amount of time. For real-time application, decoder has to be fast enough to reconstruct the frames from transmitted data;but the most time constraint module of the decoder is the inverse transformation. In this paper, a fast motion estimation algorithm is used and in residual frame coding purpose, a fast method based on block truncation coding with pattern fitting concept is employed. Proposed video coding method is a fast one with a good quality at the reasonable bit-rate, also the decoder is much faster.

In this paper, we have proposed a novel progressive image transmission scheme. In the present method, the concept of the btc-pf is used for faster decoding. Here, images are decomposed into a number of blocks based on smoothness criterion. The smooth blocks are encoded by block means and the others are by btc-pf method. To encode a block by btc-pf method, the codebook is organized like a full search progressive transmission tree which helps greatly in efficient progressive transmission. The present method provides good image quality at low bit-rate and faster decoding compared to other spatial domain progressive transmission methods. We extend this method for color images also. In color image coding, each color plane is encoded separately and then the encoded information of the planes are transmitted in interleaving manner to obtain color images right from the early stages. In this work, a blind binary watermarking technique has been proposed. The present method is spatial domain technique and a binary watermark is embedded in compressed domain. btc-pf based technique has been employed to embed the watermark. In the present method, a secret key 'K' has been used to enhance the security level. The proposed method is robust against different image processing attacks. The performance of the proposed method is compared with another spatial domain method and the experimental result shows that proposed method is superior.

In this work, a robust binary watermarking technique is proposed. For the embedding purpose, the host image is encoded by btc-pf method and two pattern books (PB1 and PB2) are used to insert the watermark. Depending on the bit-value of the watermark, the current block of the host image is encoded either by using PB1 or PB2. In the present method, to enhance the security level, the original watermark is randomly permuted with a secret key K and then embedding method is executed. The experimental result shows that the proposed watermarking technique is a robust against different type of attacks like blurring, salt and pepper noise, Gaussian filter, cropping, sharpening, rotation, histogram equalization and JPEG compression.
