This paper proposes a control strategy for Photovoltaic (PV) system and energy storage system (ESS) in an islanded DC microgrid. In contrast to conventional control techniques where the battery is mostly responsible for DC grid voltage regulation, the proposed strategy utilizes PV based controller separately in regulating the microgrid voltage when battery is fully charged and disconnected, consequently reducing the overcharging stress on the battery, thereby prolonging the battery-life. The simulation results show the efficacy of the proposed controller in regulating the DC bus voltage despite of varying irradiance conditions and varying load conditions.

A novel technique that combines the advantageous features of hybrid and junction splitting technique is presented for realization of a very high energy efficient SC SAR ADC. The hybrid capacitor switching scheme is very energy efficient in which the first three comparison cycles do not consume any energy. The junction splitting technique involves appending capacitors as each bit is successively being determined by the system. The present paper combines these two features to realize an SC SAR ADC which is more energy efficient than either of the two. The method provides energy savings as well as unit capacitor saving. Thus the method becomes one of the most energy efficient switching schemes among its peers. It achieves a 50% reduction in unit capacitance requirements over the conventional one.

In RFID system, more than one tag answering the query of reader together can result in tag collision, which makes the communication between reader and tag failure. For the problem, a novel anti-collision algorithm was present in the paper. The new algorithm transmitted the maximal collision bit position but the serial number of tag, which reduced the data transmitted greatly, and uses splitting to make the algorithm working in a smaller scope which reduces the number of searching. Computer simulation result shown that the new algorithm was efficient.

RFID has become a key technology with the development of the Internet of Thing, its development and application is limited by the tag anti-collision technology which has become an urgent problem needs to be solved. In this paper, the binary search algorithm and multi-state binary search algorithm are compared and analyzed in detail, and an anti-collision algorithm based on counting mechanism and multi-state binary(CMS) is proposed. By utilizing the obtained collision information collected from preprocessing, the supreme conflict counting mechanism is introduced into the multi-state binary search algorithm. Theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can greatly reduce the query search times, the length of reader's send command and tag's response command as well as the identification time.

This research paper proposes a straight-line approximation-based maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm using open circuit voltage of Photovoltaic (PV) module and then employs an iterative based optimization technique for determining the optimum step-size to extract maximum energy from PV-module. The proposed algorithm is compared with the conventional P&O method in terms of maximum energy extraction at different step sizes. The results obtained show that the proposed algorithm extracts more energy at optimized step size and at other different step sizes during fast and slow varying global horizontal irradiance (GHI) parameter. The simulation results also show that the proposed method is much faster than the conventional P&O algorithm in finding the MPP for same step size. The fast-finding maximum power point (MPP) by the proposed algorithm not only allows increasing the overall system efficiency but also helps by extracting more energy from PV module especially for rapid changing weather parameters.

Sign language has shown advancement indication results in the last decade of years. Research in the area of sign language has been done but mostly focuses in signer independent schemas consists of sign language and video. Unfortunately, research of sign language to translate one sign language to another sign language is infrequently. The research contributes to Malaysian to German sign language statistical machine translation for hearing impaired people. Markov chain and searchalgorithms are used to apply the process of translation from Malaysian to German sign language and vice versa. The corpus data are used for testing statistical machine translation around 10.000. A binarysearch and linear searchalgorithm in cooperation with a Markov chain are used to apply the process of translation. An output of execution time between 2 models of algorithms has been explored. The accuracy of the binary search algorithm is better than linear searchalgorithm when using for translation.

Power grids with increased penetration of photovoltaic (PV) systems face difficulties such as power quality issues, poor system inertia and voltage fluctuations. Hence, the development of flexible power point tracking (FPPT) algorithms, which controls the PV power output rather than the conventional method of extracting the maximum power, was motivated by the necessity to address these issues. Many FPPT algorithms have been presented in the literature for operation during uniform irradiance condition of the PV modules. Each algorithm has distinct benefits and drawbacks and under a particular circumstances, one algorithm may be preferable to another. This study examines the performance of various FPPT algorithms operating with normal and degraded PV modules. Simulation tests in MATLAB/Simulink and experimental results are taken to study their performances. A detailed comparison based on the algorithm's resilience, convergence rate, complexity, and the ease in obtaining the initial data is then presented.

Based on the physical model of planar spiral inductor and the closed-form inductance expression proposed by Jenei etc., this paper develops a novel, technique fast optimizing the layout parameters of spiral inductor. It has been shown Jenei's formula is more-form formulas presented before accurate than the closed and this paper further demonstrates that Jenei's formula can yield a speed about two magnitude order faster than GreenHouse method with a comparable accuracy. Mathematical analysis of Jenei's formula immediately leads to the derivation of BSA to search out all layout parameters satisfying constraints quickly, then the set with the highest Q can be identified. Experiments show that BSA's searching speed is about three magnitude order faster than the incremental searching algorithm based on GreenHouse method, while the accuracy of both algorithms are similar. The efficiency and accuracy of the optimizing technique are demonstrated by experiments.

Aircraft weight and center-of-gravity are significant parameters that affect flight stability and controllability, and unreasonable CG position may cause serious flight accidents. However, there is no airborne sensor can directly measure aircraft weight and center-of-gravity. In view of this, a novel estimation method for weight and center of-gravity via the aircraft trim data is introduced. Specifically, the trim data calculation process for the aircraft with variable center of mass is given. Then, an inverse interpolation approach based on the binary search algorithm is presented to estimate the aircraft weight and center-of-gravity, and an improved moving average filter is introduced to eliminate the adverse effect on estimation results caused by the high-frequency noise of airborne sensors. Some simulations are given to demonstrate the validity of the proposed estimation method, and it can be drawn from the result that the aircraft longitudinal CG position estimation error is within 0.05 %MAC.

Video surveillance has broad application prospects in maritime rescue, ship transportation and other fields. Mobile edge computing can effectively guarantee low-latency and highly reliable data transmission in maritime video surveillance. This paper comprehensively formulates the edge computing offloading schemes in the middle-sea scenario. The middle-sea scenario has sufficient edge computing nodes as in the offshore scenario and delay constraints due to limited network connectivity as in the far-sea scenario. Taking into account these characteristics, a single-user single-hop unicast offloading model is established and extends to a multi-user model. In addition, for the sufficient and limited edge computing nodes, the multi-user model is further divided into the multi-user single-hop unicast situation 1 and 2 models. We split the mixed-integer nonlinear programming problem and approximate the optimal transmission power by the binarysearch method. We use the offloading decision allocation algorithm based on alternating selection, offloading decision allocation algorithm based on multi-objective alternating selection, and offloading decision allocation algorithm based on node redistribution to optimize the offloading decisions of the above models. Subsequently, we analyze the simulation results from algorithm comparisons, changes in the number of subtasks, data, and oceanic user equipments. We verify the effectiveness of the proposed schemes and algorithms in saving delay.
