To reduce an amount of computation of full search algorithm for fast motion estimation, we propose a new and fast matchingalgorithm without any degradation of predicted images. The computational reduction without any degradation comes from adaptive matching scan algorithm according to the image complexity of the reference block in current frame. Experimentally, ae significantly reduce the computational load compared with conventional full search algorithm.

In this paper, the motion estimation and compensation of interframe background, the restoration of complete background image, the detection of moving objects and the optimization of detection results of dynamic sequence images are studied. It is innovatively proposed to use the combination of variance, edge information and histogram that characterizes statistical characteristics as the appropriate characteristic to match blocks, and then use the blockmatching method to realize motion estimation and compensation of background. This algorithm has proven that it can effectively and quickly realize motion estimation and compensation of background between dynamic sequence images by experiments. Then the traditional background subtraction and three-frame difference method can be used to recover the whole background and detect moving target. However, the problem of target cavity and background residues appears in the target detection results. In this paper, the second threshold method of difference results, the background real-time update method and the subarea multi-threshold method are proposed. The experimental results show that the three schemes can effectively solve the problem of target void and background residue in the detection results. And they are also applicable in the situation where the gray level of the target is similar to the background, which can clearly extract the target submerged in the background, and extend the application scope of traditional background subtraction.

In order to achieve the real-time property for video coding,a fast and adaptive algorithm based on starting search point prediction and early-termination strategy is *** analyzes center-bias property and spatial correlation property of motion vector field,and utilizes the respective characteristics of block based gradient descent search(BBGDS) and adaptive rood pattern search(ARPS) *** proposed algorithm adaptively chooses different searching strategies according to the type of the image,makes full use of the cross image motion vector distribution characteristics and optimizes the traditional ARPS *** experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is about 2.3~9.2 times faster than Diamond Search(DS),1.2~4.0 times than *** algorithm can meet the realtime demand without reducing the image quality.

The monitoring of trees and vegetation near high voltage transmission power lines is a tedious job for electrical companies. There are many blackouts occur due to interfering the trees with the power transmission lines in hilly as well as urban areas. This is a big challenge for power distribution companies to monitor the vegetation for avoiding the blackouts and flashovers. To solve these problems, there are many methods are used to monitor the trees and vegetation near transmission power poles. But the existing methods are expensive and time consuming. We proposed the new method based on satellite images to monitor the trees and vegetation. The satellite images provide the cost effective solution to solve the monitoring problem. In this paper, we proposed the stereo matchingalgorithms to measure the disparity map based on satellite stereo imagery. The height estimation of trees and vegetation near power poles based on depth map which is inversely proportional of the disparity map. For measuring the depth map, the dynamic programming (DP) and blockmatching with energy minimization has been proposed. These techniques are applied on the satellite stereo images and based on results, our proposed DP algorithm produced more accurate disparity map as compared to the block matching algorithm.

In the context of motion estimation (ME) for video coding, the rate-constrained successive elimination algorithm (RC-SEA) safely eliminates candidate motion vectors while preserving the optimal candidate chosen by the block matching algorithm (BMA). This paper describes a technique for reusing ME information from rectangular to square prediction units in order to reduce the search area without altering the optimal candidate chosen by the BMA. Our experiments show that, on average, when this optimization is combined with the RCSEA in the HEVC HM encoder reference software, the number of sum of the absolute differences (SAD) operations drops by 94.9%, resulting in a speedup of 6.13x in full search mode. Although identical coding decisions cannot be guaranteed when multiple optimal solutions exist, the average impact on BD-PSNR is 0.0002 dB.
