There have been an increasing utilization and consumption of audio files in various applications across different desktop and mobile devices. Thus, audio data compression has been beneficial in reducing the bandwidth and disk space requirements of such data. block truncation coding(BTC), a well-known data compression technique for digital images, was used as the underlying algorithm in encoding audio data. A new encoding technique for audio data was proposed with the following components:(1) quadtree for audio block segmentation,(2) AMBTC for computation of representative values, and(3) Huffman coding for lossless data representation. The performance of the proposed encoding technique was benchmarked and measured using Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio(PSNR) and compression rate.

The main aim of this paper is to reduce the computational time, to increase the complexity ratio and to improve the image quality by applying dither Dither block truncation coding algorithm with different similarity comparison algorithm, as different approaches are followed to improve the quality of an image, ODBTC is one of the approach, but to improve the quality we will also include some of the best similarity measurement algorithm like normalized and mini-max ratio, on the other hand feature selection is also one of the important factor to improve the performance measurement, previously we were using color(CF) and bit pattern(BF) separately but here we will combine both color with bit pattern(CBF)feature so more improved result will occur.

Evolutions in image-data processing is rapidly changing from text-based retrieval systems to video retrieval which is created on content based systems due to its eminent demand in digital market and that can be possible only due to available multimedia data types and available bandwidth. In proposed method of Content Based Video Retrieval (CBVR) the Ordered-Dither block truncation coding (ODBTC) technique is employed which generates appropriate image contents. Combinations of Void-and-cluster half-toning and block truncation coding (BTC) offers low complexity in algorithm and provides better video image quality. Dither array Look-Up-Table (LUT) is a distinctive feature of ODBTC which reduces the difficulties by providing look up values of segmented blocks. ODBTC encoded streams are used for generation of two distinct features including of color features namely Color Co-occurrence Feature (CCF) and Bit Pattern Features (BPF). After quantizing and bit-mapping from ODBTC encoder, BPF is obtained by LUT. In the presented system, CBVR is achieved by block truncation (BT) of expected video information to be retrieved. Proposed system provides good remedy for CBVR for large digital video-data processing in the fields of Image and Video Processing.

In this paper we discuss application of delta modulation technique to the modified block truncation coding algorithm. The main idea of the research is to propose a simple improvement to the block truncation coding algorithm and to analyze its performance. The proposed hybrid system is tested for a set of standard test grayscale images and the results are compared with the classic method.

block truncation coding (BTC) image compression technique is capable of extraordinary computational efficiency for high-framerate configurations under the trend of high image resolution. However, the recent development such as the Dot-Diffused BTC (DDBTC) method still encounters various challenges of visual artifacts, including impulsive noise, false contours and blocking effects. In this study, a new method, the Near-Aperiodic DDBTC (NADDBTC) technique, is proposed to analyze the tradeoff and balance between computational efficiency and visual artifacts. It is mainly because of the quantization levels and the co-optimized Class Matrix (CM) and Diffused Matrix (DM) during image compression procedure. In addition, the tiling method for bitmap generation is optimized for aperiodic compressed results. Experimental results show that this method is capable of excellent image quality and visual perception, as well as processing efficiency, at a level similar to the DDBTC technique by taking advantage of parallel processing in dot diffusion. This paper presents a new image restoration method for improving the quality of halftoning-block truncation coding (BTC) decoded image in a patch-based manner. The halftoning-BTC decoded image suffers from the halftoning impulse noise which can be effectively reduced and suppressed using the Vector Quantization (VQ)-based and sparsity-based approaches. The VQ-based approach employs the visual codebook generated from the clean image, whereas the sparsity-based approach utilizes the double learned dictionaries in the noise reduction. The sparsity-based approach assumes that the halftoningBTC decode image and clean image share the same sparsity coefficient. In the sparse coding stage, it uses the halftoning-BTC dictionary, while in the reconstruction stage, it exploits the clean image dictionary. As suggested by the experimental results, the proposed method outperforms in the halftoning-BTC image reconstructed when compared to that of the filtering approaches. (C) 2016 Elsevier Inc. Frame memory compression is a widely used image compression technique that aims to reduce the size of the frame memory in display panels such as those containing LCD and OLED technologies. Recent LCD panels use the RGBW color domain to replace the traditional RGB domain in order to enhance the brightness of LCD panels with the addition of a white component. The additional component increases the size of the frame memory but necessitates an aggressive compression algorithm. This paper proposes a novel compression algorithm for RGBW components that improves the efficiency of block truncation coding (BTC), which is widely used for LCD overdrive. The proposed low-complexity adaptive multi-level block truncation coding (LAM-BTC) algorithm codes RGBW color data with a width of ten bits. It adaptively selects two-level BTC or four-level BTC to enhance the quality of the images, for which a low-complex level selection scheme is used. Four-level BTC in the proposed algorithm codes two representative values (RV) in four RVs and infers the other two RVs using inter-color correlation. In spite of the reduced complexity, the average peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) of the proposed algorithm is 0.54 dB higher than that of the previous AM-BTC at a compression ratio of eight(1).

In this paper, we propose a novel perceptual image hashing scheme based on block truncation coding (BTC). In the proposed scheme, the pre-processing is first applied on original image through bilinear interpolation, Gaussian low-pass filtering, and singular value decomposition (SVD) to construct a secondary image for regularization. Then, BTC is conducted on the secondary image to extract perceptual image features, and the low and high reconstruction levels and the feature matrix of corresponding binary map after the computation of center-symmetrical local binary pattern (CSLBP) are compressed with quantization and data dimensionality reduction of PCA to produce the final compact binary hash. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheme has the satisfactory performances of robustness, anti-collision, and security. (C) 2016 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

block truncation coding (BTC) has been considered as a highly efficient compression technique for decades, but the blocking artifact is its main issue. The halftoning-based BTC has significantly eased this issue, yet an apparent impulse noise artifact is accompanied. In this study, an improved BTC, termed adaptive dot-diffused BTC (ADBTC), is proposed to further improve the visual quality. Also, this method provides an additional flexibility on the compression ratios determination in contrast to the former fixed and few number of configuration possibilities. As documented in the experimental results, the proposed method achieves the superior image quality regarding the five various objective IQA methods. As a result, it is a very competitive approach for the needs of both high frame rate and high-resolution image compression.
