In this study, an improved block truncation coding (BTC) image compression scheme, namely Near-Aperiodic Dot-Diffused BTC (NADDBTC), is described. Firstly, the existing regular structures for the generation of bitmap are completely modified for aperiodic compressed results. Moreover, an adaptive quantization levels selection strategy and two parameters Class Matrix (CM) and Diffused Matrix (DM) for image compression are developed and co-optimized. The improvements produce results of superior image quality. Furthermore, the adaptive quantization levels are introduced for balanced false contour, impulsive noise, and blocking artifact. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed NADDBTC is capable of providing excellent image quality and visual perception, as well as processing efficiency, similar to DDBTC by exploiting the innate parallelism advantage of dot diffusion.

This paper presents a technique for Content-Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) by exploiting the low complexity advantage of the Ordered-Dither block truncation coding (ODBTC) for generating image content descriptors. The two image features, namely Color Co-occurrence Feature (CCF) and Bit Pattern Features (BPF), are generated from ODBTC encoded data streams (without really performing an image compression or decoding process) to measure the similarity between two images. Experimental results show that the proposed method is superior to the block truncation coding (BTC) image retrieval system and other former methods, and prove that the ODBTC scheme is not only suited for image compression for its simplicity, but also offers a conveniently way for image indexing in the content-based image retrieval system.

block truncation coding (BTC) has been considered as a highly efficient compression technique for decades, but the blocking artifact is its main issue. The halftoning-based BTC has significantly eased this issue, yet an apparent impulse noise artifact is accompanied. In this study, an improved BTC, termed adaptive dot-diffused BTC (ADBTC), is proposed to further improve the visual quality. Also, this method provides an additional flexibility on the compression ratios determination in contrast to the former fixed and few number of configuration possibilities. As documented in the experimental results, the proposed method achieves the superior image quality regarding the five various objective IQA methods. As a result, it is a very competitive approach for the needs of both high frame rate and high-resolution image compression.

block truncation coding (BTC) is one of spatial coding techniques of images. This technique has a simple and fast algorithm which achieves constant bit rate of 2 bits per pixel. The compression ratio may be improved by coding only half of the bits in the BTC bit plane of each block;the other half will be interpolated at the receiver. The resulting bit rate will be 1.5 bits per pixel. In this paper, two proposed interpolative algorithms for coding the block truncated image bit plane are presented. Several grey scale test images are used to evaluate the coding efficiency and performance of these algorithms compared with existing algorithms. It is generally shown that the proposed algorithms give better results.

In this paper de-duplication of electricity bills is done through CBIR. The technique for comparing the images is block truncation coding;it is a lossy compression technique for grayscale image. So Photograph of electricity was divided into different block size using a compression technique known as block truncation coding. On the basis of block size, we will put images of the same block size in the same cluster. As there will be large block, so they will be divided into chunks of data. Through this experiment we will try to remove duplicates in the same cluster. In this paper the block of data is also divided into different chunks, so that image of single instance can be stored in these chunks. Evolutions in image-data processing is rapidly changing from text-based retrieval systems to video retrieval which is created on content based systems due to its eminent demand in digital market and that can be possible only due to available multimedia data types and available bandwidth. In proposed method of Content Based Video Retrieval (CBVR) the Ordered-Dither block truncation coding (ODBTC) technique is employed which generates appropriate image contents. Combinations of Void-and-cluster half-toning and block truncation coding (BTC) offers low complexity in algorithm and provides better video image quality. Dither array Look-Up-Table (LUT) is a distinctive feature of ODBTC which reduces the difficulties by providing look up values of segmented blocks. ODBTC encoded streams are used for generation of two distinct features including of color features namely Color Co-occurrence Feature (CCF) and Bit Pattern Features (BPF). After quantizing and bit-mapping from ODBTC encoder, BPF is obtained by LUT. In the presented system, CBVR is achieved by blocktruncation (BT) of expected video information to be retrieved. Proposed system provides good remedy for CBVR for large digital video-data processing in the fields of Image and Video Processing.
