Ethnopharmacological relevance: curcuma latifolia Roscoe, a plant in the curcuma genus, has been used as a food additive and folk medicine in Thailand to treat pelvic pain and improve premenstrual syndrome. Although it has been used for centuries, no scientific studies have proved its potential effects on inflammatory pain and central nervous system (cNS) safety profiles. Aim of the study: This study aimed to evaluate the potential effects of the ethanolic extract of c. latifolia rhizome on inflammatory pain in mice, together with its cNS safety profiles. Materials and methods: First, network pharmacology was employed to identify the role of bioactive constituents in c. latifolia on inflammatory pain. In addition, in vitro pharmacology was also evaluated to confirm the antiinflammatory activity of c. latifolia extract at cellular levels in activated macrophages and microglia. Furthermore, the efficacy of the plant extract in attenuating formalin-induced pain-like behaviors in mice was evaluated. Mice were orally administered the extract (125, 250, 500 mg/kg) followed by the measurement of formalininduced pain-like behaviors. The LABORAS automated behavioral analysis and rotarod test were used to assess potential cNS side effects of c. latifolia extract (500 mg/kg) in mice. Results: The results demonstrated that major bioactive constituents present in c. latifolia have the ability to regulate multiple targets, biological processes and pathways associated with inflammatory pain as assessed by network pharmacology. c. latifolia modulated peripheral and central immune cells via reducing proinflammatory mediators (NO, TNF-& alpha;, and IL-6). c. latifolia extract improved formalin-induced pain-like behaviors in a dose dependent manner during phase II of the formalin test. AimsOur study aims to provide an enhanced comprehension of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) burden in United Arab Emirates (UAE), over a five-year period from payer and societal *** and methodsA Markov model was established to simulate the economic consequences of SLE among UAE population. It included four health states: i) the three phenotypes of SLE, representing mild, moderate, and severe states, and ii) death. clinical parameters were retrieved from previous literature and validated using the Delphi panel-the most common clinical practice within the Emirati healthcare system. We calculated the disease management, transient events, and indirect costs by macro costing. One-way sensitivity analysis was *** estimated number of SLE patients in our study was 13,359. The number of SLE patients with mild, moderate, and severe phenotypes was 3,914, 8,109, and 1,336, respectively. Disease management costs, including treatment of each phenotype and disease follow-up, were AED 2 billion ($0.89 billion), whereas the costs of transient events (infections, flares, and consequences of SLE-related organ damage) were AED 1 billion ($0.44 billion). The productivity loss costs among adult-employed patients with SLE in the UAE were estimated at AED 7 billion ($3.1 billion). The total SLE cost over five years from payer and societal perspectives is estimated at AED 3 ($1.3 billion) and 10 billion ($4.4 billion), respectively. Additionally, the costs per patient per year from the payer and societal perspectives were AED 45,960 ($20,610) and AED 148,468 ($66,578), *** findings demonstrate that the burden of SLE in the UAE is enormous, mainly because of the costly complications and productivity loss. 目的探讨血清胱抑素c、同型半胱氨酸(Hcy)和25-羟基维生素D[25(OH)D]与脑白质疏松症的关系。方法选择2019年2月至2020年8月温州市中医院神经内科收治的脑白质疏松症患者84例为观察组,并分成轻度、中度和重度亚组,另选择健康体检者50例为对照组,比较各组的临床资料和血清学指标,分析血清学指标与病情程度的关系。结果观察组高血压史比例、尿素、肌酐、尿酸、胱抑素c、Hcy水平高于对照组,25(OH)D水平低于对照组,差异均有统计学意义(均P<0.05)。高血压、胱抑素c水平升高、Hcy水平升高、25(OH)D水平降低均是脑白质疏松症的危险因素(P<0.05)。3个亚组患者肌酐、胱抑素c、Hcy、25(OH)D比较,差异均有统计学意义(均P<0.05)。胱抑素c、Hcy与脑白质疏松症严重程度均呈正相关(P<0.05),25(OH)D与脑白质疏松症严重程度呈负相关(P<0.05)。结论血清胱抑素c水平升高、Hcy水平升高、25(OH)D水平降低是脑白质疏松症的危险因素,并于疾病严重性相关。

In situ grown co 3 O 4 nanosheets in the interlayer space of g-c 3 N 4 for efficient removal of Hg 0 from flue gas

Hg 0 adsorption with sorbents is a widely used way to remove Hg 0 from coal fire flue gas. The adsorption efficiency and capacity are limited by the activation and number of the surface adsorption sites. In the present work, a series of composite sorbents with nanosheet structure were successfully synthesized by in situ growth of co 3 O 4 nanosheets in the interlayer space of g-c 3 N 4 . The effects of the mass ratio of co 3 O 4 /g-c 3 N 4 on sorbent physicochemical properties were comprehensively studied. characterization results show that, when the mass ratio of co 3 O 4 /g-c 3 N 4 is 20%, the corresponding sorbent of 20%co 3 O 4 /NS-g-c 3 N 4 has well dispersion of co 3 O 4 nanosheets in g-c 3 N 4 interlayer (SEM and TEM) and a relatively large BET area (BET). It results in a larger amount of surface chemisorbed oxygen which can react with Hg 0 forming HgO. Furthermore, the strong interaction between co 3 O 4 and g-c 3 N 4 make electron transfer from g-c 3 N 4 to co 3 O 4 improving oxygen activation. Therefore, 20%co 3 O 4 /NS-g-c 3 N 4 has a higher Hg 0 removal efficiency of 97% at 250 °c and it maintains above 80% even after 70 h test. XPS, FTIR and Hg 0 desorption experiment results confirm that the adsorbed Hg mainly stays in the form of HgO and a probable adsorption mechanism is deduced by these results.

cost-effectiveness of axicabtagene ciloleucel versus tisagenlecleucel for the treatment of 3L+relapsed/refractory large B-cell lymphoma in the United States: incorporating longer survival results

AimsTo provide an update on the cost-effectiveness of the chimeric antigen receptor (cAR) T-cell therapies axicabtagene ciloleucel (axi-cel) and tisagenlecleucel (tisa-cel) for the treatment of relapsed/refractory (r/r) large B-cell lymphoma (LBcL) among patients who have previously received >= 2 lines of systemic therapy using more mature clinical trial data cuts (60 months for axi-cel overall survival [OS] and 45 months for tisa-cel OS and progression-free survival [PFS]).MethodsA partitioned survival model consisting of three health states (pre-progression, post-progression and death) was used to estimate quality-adjusted life years (QALYs) and costs associated with axi-cel and tisa-cel over a lifetime horizon. PFS and OS inputs for axi-cel and tisa-cel were based on a previously published matching-adjusted indirect treatment comparison (MAIc). Long-term OS and PFS were extrapolated using parametric survival mixture cure models (PS-McMs). costs of cAR-T cell therapy drug acquisition and administration, conditioning chemotherapy, apheresis, cAR T-specific monitoring, stem cell transplant, hospitalization, adverse events, routine care, and terminal care were sourced from US cost databases. Health state utilities were derived from previous publications. Model inputs were varied using a range of sensitivity and scenario *** with tisa-cel, axi-cel resulted in 2.51 additional QALYs and $50,185 additional costs (an incremental cost-effectiveness ratio [IcER] of $19,994 per QALY gained). In probabilistic sensitivity analysis (PSA), the IcER for axi-cel versus tisa-cel was <=$50,000/QALY in 99.4% of simulations and <=$33,500 in 99% of simulations. Gliomas, the most common type of primary intracranial tumor, arise from the brain's glial cells and constitute 30% of all brain and central nervous system tumors. MiR-34b/c plays an important role in colorectal cancer and other cancers, but its role in glioma is unknown. In this study, we attempted to assess the effect of rs4938723 T > c in miR-34b/c on the susceptibility of glioma chinese children. Odds ratios and 95% confidence intervals (cIs) were calculated to evaluate the association between the selected polymorphism and glioma susceptibility. Our results showed that there is no significant association between this polymorphism and the risk of glioma in chinese children. However, stratified analysis showed that the rs4938723 Tc/cc genotype significantly reduced the risk of glioma in participants under 60 months of age (adjusted OR = 0.56, 95% cI = 0.35-0.88, p = .013). Overall, our study indicates that miR-34b/c rs4938723 T > c polymorphism may have a weak influence on glioma susceptibility. Nevertheless, these findings need to be validated in well-designed studies with larger sample sizes and different populations.

This paper gives an account of the history of veterinary bacteriology including clinical veterinary bacteriology as well as the area of veterinary public health in Denmark from the 1880s to 2022. We describe key persons, including B. Bang, c.O. Jensen, K.A. Jensen and others who made important contributions to the development of these areas of microbiological expertise, and we discuss how challenges ranging from bovine tuberculosis to bacterial antimicrobial resistance have been met. Further, we describe progress in research on important bacterial pathogens both with regard to animal clinical aspects and zoonotic food-related aspects. Finally, we describe current issues in relation to One Health and research organization.

A matching-adjusted indirect comparison of results from REDUcE and RESPEcT-two randomized trials on patent foramen ovale closure devices to prevent recurrent cryptogenic stroke

AimsTwo randomized clinical trials, REDUcE and RESPEcT, demonstrated that patent foramen ovale (PFO) closure in combination with antithrombotic therapy was more effective for the prevention of recurrent ischemic stroke compared with antithrombotic therapy alone. The aim of this study was to determine the relative efficacy and safety of the PFO closure devices used in REDUcE (HELEX and cARDIOFORM Septal Occluders) compared with the device used in RESPEcT (Amplatzer PFO Occluder).MethodsAn unanchored matching-adjusted indirect comparison (MAIc) of the PFO closure arms of the REDUcE and RESPEcT trials was performed using patient-level data from REDUcE weighted to match baseline characteristics from RESPEcT. comparisons of the following outcomes were made between the devices assessed in the trials: risk of recurrent ischemic stroke;recurrent ischemic stroke one year after randomization;any serious adverse event (SAE) related to the procedure or device;and atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter as an SAE related to the procedure or *** conducting the MAIc, baseline characteristics were well-matched between the two trials. compared to RESPEcT, PFO closure using the devices from REDUcE resulted in a hazard ratio of 0.46 (95% confidence interval [cI] 0.15-1.43;p = 0.17) for the risk of recurrent stroke. For the recurrence of stroke after one year, SAE related to the procedure or device, and atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter as SAE related to the procedure or device, the MAIc resulted in a rate difference of -0.68 (95%cI -2.06 to 0.70;p = .34), -1.29 (95%cI -3.82 to 1.25;p = .32), and -0.19 (95%cI -1.16 to 0.78;p = .71), respectively. When faced with starvation, the bacterium Bacillus subtilis transforms itself into a dormant cell type called a "spore". Sporulation initiates with an asymmetric division event, which requires the relocation of the core divisome components FtsA and FtsZ, after which the sigma factor aF is exclusively activated in the smaller daughter cell. compartment- specific activation of aF requires the SpoIIE phosphatase, which displays a biased localization on one side of the asymmetric division septum and associates with the structural protein DivIVA, but the mechanism by which this preferential localization is achieved is unclear. Here, we isolated a variant of DivIVA that indiscriminately activates aF in both daughter cells due to promiscuous localization of SpoIIE, which was corrected by overproduction of FtsA and FtsZ. We propose that the core components of the redeployed cell division machinery drive the asymmetric localization of DivIVA and SpoIIE to trigger the initiation of the sporulation program.

Our model measured direct medical and indirect costs, including disease management, transient events, and indirect costs. One-way sensitivity analysis was also *** number of colombian SLE patients was 37,498. The number of SLE patients with mild, moderate, and severe phenotypes was 5343, 28757 and 3,397, respectively. SLE-patients with moderate (colombian pesos;cOP 146 billion) and severe phenotypes (cOP276 billion) incurred higher costs than those with mild phenotypes (cOP2 billion), over 5 years. The total SLE cost in colombia over five years from the payer and societal perspectives was estimated to be cOP 915 billion and 8 trillion, respectively. The costs per patient per year from the payer and societal perspectives were cOP 4,881,902 ($3,510) and cOP 46,637,054 ($33,528), *** burden of SLE in colombia over five years is substantially high, mainly due to the consequences of economic loss because it affects women and men of working age, in addition to the costs of SLE management and its consequences, such as flares, infection, and organ damage.
