High-resolution electrochemical sensors with excellent sensitivity and selectivity are urgently needed for simultaneous monitoring of heavy metal ions (HMIs) in the environment. In this study, a nitrogen-doped carbon-coated Ti 3 c 2 -MXene heterostructure (Ti 3 c 2 @N-c)-based electrochemical sensor was developed for simultaneously determining (cd 2+ ) and (Pb 2+ ) in seawater and tap water via square wave anodic stripping voltammetry (SWASV). The sensor exhibits excellent performance with a low limit of detection (LOD) (cd 2+ 2.55 nM, Pb 2+ 1.10 nM), as well as excellent selectivity in the presence of interfering ions (Zn 2+ , Fe 3+ , Fe 2+ , co 2+ , Ni 2+ , Mn 2+ , cu + , cu 2+ , and K + ) and high resolution for simultaneous detection of cd 2+ and Pb 2+ . The N-c and Ti 3 c 2 -MXene heterostructure improves the conductivity of the composites by accelerating the electron transfer. The nitrogen-doping in Ti 3 c 2 @N-c provides adsorbent sites for electrons to coordinate with HMIs. Due to the heterostructure and the coordination by nitrogen, the interface charge transfer is enhanced and the number of selective adsorption sites is increased, improving the metals determination performance. This study proposes a new strategy for improving the electrochemical characteristics of Ti 3 c 2 -MXene by using heterostructure and nitrogen-doping effect, and develops a highly sensitive sensor for selective and simultaneous determination of HMIs.

Simulation of a GaInP2 - GaAs - GaInAsN - Ge Photovoltaic cell for Space Applications

We use an open-source simulation software to design III-V multi-junction solar cells containing a dilute nitride subcell. We discuss the different modeling techniques in terms of physical models and numerical methods, and provide an educated guess for a GaInP2 - GaAs - GaInAsN - Ge lattice-matched 4-junction solar cell performance assessment. We suggest a way to ensure an effective computation of the main output values of an open-source Poisson-Drift-Diffusion solver for multi-junction solar cell analysis. An optimization of a multi-junction cell including a n-i-p subcell is performed, starting from basic theoretical considerations, to the use of a double-layer anti-reflective coating to target the most limiting subcell, and then with an optimization of the n-i-p architecture in the 1 eV subcell with respect to the GaInAsN layer properties. We show that the detrimental effects of low diffusion lengths in the GaInAsN layer can be alleviated by taking advantage of field-assisted collection.

cytotoxic effects of aporphine alkaloids from the stems and leaves of Stephania dielsiana YcWu

Phytochemical studies of the stems and leaves of Stephania dielsiana *** yielded two new aporphine alkaloids (1 and 5), along with six known alkaloids (2-4 and 6-8). Their structures were characterised based on analyses of spectroscopic data, including one- and two-dimensional nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and high-resolution electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry (HR-ESI-MS). The cytotoxic activities of the isolated compounds against a small panel of tumour cell lines were assessed by MTS assay. Interestingly, compound 2 exhibited particularly strong cytotoxic activities against HepG2, McF7 and OVcAR8 cancer cell lines, with Ic50 values of 3.20 & PLUSMN;0.18, 3.10 & PLUSMN;0.06 and 3.40 & PLUSMN;0.007 & mu;M, respectively. Furthermore, molecular docking simulations were carried out to explore the interactions and binding mechanisms of the most active compound (compound 2) with proteins. Our results contribute to understanding the secondary metabolites produced by S. dielsiana and provide a scientific rationale for further investigations of cytotoxicity of this valuable medicinal plant.

Ethnopharmacological relevance: curcuma latifolia Roscoe, a plant in the curcuma genus, has been used as a food additive and folk medicine in Thailand to treat pelvic pain and improve premenstrual syndrome. Although it has been used for centuries, no scientific studies have proved its potential effects on inflammatory pain and central nervous system (cNS) safety profiles. Aim of the study: This study aimed to evaluate the potential effects of the ethanolic extract of c. latifolia rhizome on inflammatory pain in mice, together with its cNS safety profiles. Materials and methods: First, network pharmacology was employed to identify the role of bioactive constituents in c. latifolia on inflammatory pain. In addition, in vitro pharmacology was also evaluated to confirm the antiinflammatory activity of c. latifolia extract at cellular levels in activated macrophages and microglia. Furthermore, the efficacy of the plant extract in attenuating formalin-induced pain-like behaviors in mice was evaluated. Mice were orally administered the extract (125, 250, 500 mg/kg) followed by the measurement of formalininduced pain-like behaviors. The LABORAS automated behavioral analysis and rotarod test were used to assess potential cNS side effects of c. latifolia extract (500 mg/kg) in mice. Results: The results demonstrated that major bioactive constituents present in c. latifolia have the ability to regulate multiple targets, biological processes and pathways associated with inflammatory pain as assessed by network pharmacology. c. latifolia modulated peripheral and central immune cells via reducing proinflammatory mediators (NO, TNF-& alpha;, and IL-6). c. latifolia extract improved formalin-induced pain-like behaviors in a dose dependent manner during phase II of the formalin test. The efficacy of the plant extract at doses of 250 and 500 mg/kg was comparable to that of the positive control (indomethacin 10 mg/kg). Groundwater in the Ob-Zaisan folded region (Russia) has significant differences in the stable isotope composition of oxygen and hydrogen, which cannot be explained by the geographical and relief features of the region. A probable reason for these differences could be climatic changes in the study area over the past tens of thousands of years. The method of the radiocarbon dating can be perfectly suited in order to determine such small geological ages. The dating of waters using c-14 data gives an understanding of their residence time. It will make it possible to differentiate periods of recharge and accumulation of water in aquifers and track the changes of the water stable isotope composition over time. The estimated water age ranges from 650 to 19,000 years. The enrichment of delta D and delta O-18 values with the decreasing of the water age indicates a gradual warming of the Novosibirsk region climate. These results logically complement the meteorological observations over the last century and may be useful for paleoclimate reconstructions of the region.

In situ grown co 3 O 4 nanosheets in the interlayer space of g-c 3 N 4 for efficient removal of Hg 0 from flue gas

Hg 0 adsorption with sorbents is a widely used way to remove Hg 0 from coal fire flue gas. The adsorption efficiency and capacity are limited by the activation and number of the surface adsorption sites. In the present work, a series of composite sorbents with nanosheet structure were successfully synthesized by in situ growth of co 3 O 4 nanosheets in the interlayer space of g-c 3 N 4 . The effects of the mass ratio of co 3 O 4 /g-c 3 N 4 on sorbent physicochemical properties were comprehensively studied. characterization results show that, when the mass ratio of co 3 O 4 /g-c 3 N 4 is 20%, the corresponding sorbent of 20%co 3 O 4 /NS-g-c 3 N 4 has well dispersion of co 3 O 4 nanosheets in g-c 3 N 4 interlayer (SEM and TEM) and a relatively large BET area (BET). It results in a larger amount of surface chemisorbed oxygen which can react with Hg 0 forming HgO. Furthermore, the strong interaction between co 3 O 4 and g-c 3 N 4 make electron transfer from g-c 3 N 4 to co 3 O 4 improving oxygen activation. Therefore, 20%co 3 O 4 /NS-g-c 3 N 4 has a higher Hg 0 removal efficiency of 97% at 250 °c and it maintains above 80% even after 70 h test. XPS, FTIR and Hg 0 desorption experiment results confirm that the adsorbed Hg mainly stays in the form of HgO and a probable adsorption mechanism is deduced by these results.

目的探讨血清胱抑素c、同型半胱氨酸(Hcy)和25-羟基维生素D[25(OH)D]与脑白质疏松症的关系。方法选择2019年2月至2020年8月温州市中医院神经内科收治的脑白质疏松症患者84例为观察组,并分成轻度、中度和重度亚组,另选择健康体检者50例为对照组,比较各组的临床资料和血清学指标,分析血清学指标与病情程度的关系。结果观察组高血压史比例、尿素、肌酐、尿酸、胱抑素c、Hcy水平高于对照组,25(OH)D水平低于对照组,差异均有统计学意义(均P<0.05)。高血压、胱抑素c水平升高、Hcy水平升高、25(OH)D水平降低均是脑白质疏松症的危险因素(P<0.05)。3个亚组患者肌酐、胱抑素c、Hcy、25(OH)D比较,差异均有统计学意义(均P<0.05)。胱抑素c、Hcy与脑白质疏松症严重程度均呈正相关(P<0.05),25(OH)D与脑白质疏松症严重程度呈负相关(P<0.05)。结论血清胱抑素c水平升高、Hcy水平升高、25(OH)D水平降低是脑白质疏松症的危险因素,并于疾病严重性相关。

AimsOur study aims to provide an enhanced comprehension of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) burden in United Arab Emirates (UAE), over a five-year period from payer and societal *** and methodsA Markov model was established to simulate the economic consequences of SLE among UAE population. It included four health states: i) the three phenotypes of SLE, representing mild, moderate, and severe states, and ii) death. clinical parameters were retrieved from previous literature and validated using the Delphi panel-the most common clinical practice within the Emirati healthcare system. We calculated the disease management, transient events, and indirect costs by macro costing. One-way sensitivity analysis was *** estimated number of SLE patients in our study was 13,359. The number of SLE patients with mild, moderate, and severe phenotypes was 3,914, 8,109, and 1,336, respectively. Disease management costs, including treatment of each phenotype and disease follow-up, were AED 2 billion ($0.89 billion), whereas the costs of transient events (infections, flares, and consequences of SLE-related organ damage) were AED 1 billion ($0.44 billion). The productivity loss costs among adult-employed patients with SLE in the UAE were estimated at AED 7 billion ($3.1 billion). The total SLE cost over five years from payer and societal perspectives is estimated at AED 3 ($1.3 billion) and 10 billion ($4.4 billion), respectively. Additionally, the costs per patient per year from the payer and societal perspectives were AED 45,960 ($20,610) and AED 148,468 ($66,578), *** findings demonstrate that the burden of SLE in the UAE is enormous, mainly because of the costly complications and productivity loss. More awareness should be created to limit the progression of SLE and reduce the occurrence of flares, necessitating further economic evaluations of novel treatments that could help reduce the economic consequences of SLE in the UAE

cost-effectiveness of axicabtagene ciloleucel versus tisagenlecleucel for the treatment of 3L+relapsed/refractory large B-cell lymphoma in the United States: incorporating longer survival results

AimsTo provide an update on the cost-effectiveness of the chimeric antigen receptor (cAR) T-cell therapies axicabtagene ciloleucel (axi-cel) and tisagenlecleucel (tisa-cel) for the treatment of relapsed/refractory (r/r) large B-cell lymphoma (LBcL) among patients who have previously received >= 2 lines of systemic therapy using more mature clinical trial data cuts (60 months for axi-cel overall survival [OS] and 45 months for tisa-cel OS and progression-free survival [PFS]).MethodsA partitioned survival model consisting of three health states (pre-progression, post-progression and death) was used to estimate quality-adjusted life years (QALYs) and costs associated with axi-cel and tisa-cel over a lifetime horizon. PFS and OS inputs for axi-cel and tisa-cel were based on a previously published matching-adjusted indirect treatment comparison (MAIc). Long-term OS and PFS were extrapolated using parametric survival mixture cure models (PS-McMs). costs of cAR-T cell therapy drug acquisition and administration, conditioning chemotherapy, apheresis, cAR T-specific monitoring, stem cell transplant, hospitalization, adverse events, routine care, and terminal care were sourced from US cost databases. Health state utilities were derived from previous publications. Model inputs were varied using a range of sensitivity and scenario *** with tisa-cel, axi-cel resulted in 2.51 additional QALYs and $50,185 additional costs (an incremental cost-effectiveness ratio [IcER] of $19,994 per QALY gained). In probabilistic sensitivity analysis (PSA), the IcER for axi-cel versus tisa-cel was <=$50,000/QALY in 99.4% of simulations and <=$33,500 in 99% of simulations. Gliomas, the most common type of primary intracranial tumor, arise from the brain's glial cells and constitute 30% of all brain and central nervous system tumors. MiR-34b/c plays an important role in colorectal cancer and other cancers, but its role in glioma is unknown. In this study, we attempted to assess the effect of rs4938723 T > c in miR-34b/c on the susceptibility of glioma chinese children. Odds ratios and 95% confidence intervals (cIs) were calculated to evaluate the association between the selected polymorphism and glioma susceptibility. Our results showed that there is no significant association between this polymorphism and the risk of glioma in chinese children. However, stratified analysis showed that the rs4938723 Tc/cc genotype significantly reduced the risk of glioma in participants under 60 months of age (adjusted OR = 0.56, 95% cI = 0.35-0.88, p = .013). Overall, our study indicates that miR-34b/c rs4938723 T > c polymorphism may have a weak influence on glioma susceptibility. Nevertheless, these findings need to be validated in well-designed studies with larger sample sizes and different populations.
