Electrical and sensing properties of indium-doped barium cerate

Systematic analysis of electrical characteristics of Bace0.75In0.25O3-,5 (BcI25) sintered sample was performed in a dry and a wet argon atmosphere in the 250 degrees c-700 degrees c temperature range. The water vapor sensing properties of BcI25 porous film and its response and recovery times were investigated under different conditions of tem-perature and water vapor concentration. The 30 mu m thick film obtained from the powder calcined at 1050 degrees c exhibited sensitivity comparable to that of the sintered sample with a significantly shorter response and recovery times. While the sensitivity of the film gradually decreased with a decrease in partial pressure of water vapor (p (H2O)), a noticeable sensitivity was still observed at p(H2O) of 200 Pa. Decrease in conductivity depended logarithmically on the partial pressure of water with the slope of 0.52 that is close to the theoretical value. After several cycles, the reusability test proved an almost unchanged ratio between the impedance value in the dry and the wet Ar atmosphere (p(H2O) = 2.34 kPa), which implied that BcI25, having good stability and sensitivity, is a promising high-temperature humidity sensor.

Value of next generation sequencing (NGS) testing in advanced cancer patients

ObjectiveThe availability of targeted therapies for oncology patients is increasing. Available genomic tests to identify treatment-eligible patients include single gene tests and gene panel tests, including the whole-exome, whole-transcriptome OncoExTra test. We assessed the costs and clinical benefits of test *** Microsoft Excel-based model was developed to evaluate test choice in patients with advanced/metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NScLc), breast, prostate, and colorectal cancer. Treatment pathways were based on NccN guidelines and medical expert opinion. Inputs were derived from published literature. Annual economic results and lifetime clinical results with OncoExTra testing were projected per-tested-patient and compared with single gene testing and no testing. Separately, results were estimated for a US health plan without the OncoExTra test and with its use in 5% of *** with no genomic testing, OncoExTra test use increased costs by $4,915 per patient;however, 82%-92% of individuals across tumour types were identified as eligible for targeted therapy or a clinical trial. compared with single gene testing, OncoExTra test use decreased costs by $9,966 per-patient-tested while increasing use of approved or investigational targeted therapies by 20%. When considering a hypothetical health plan with 1 million members, 858 patients were eligible for genomic testing. An efficient continuous-flow (cF) protocol was designed for the hydrogenation of lignin-derived aromatics to the corresponding cycloalkanes derivatives. A parametric analysis of the reaction was carried out by tuning the temperature, the H-2 pressure and the flow rate, and using diphenyl ether (DPE) as a model substrate, commercial Ru/c as a catalyst, and isopropanol as a solvent: at 25 degrees c, 50 bar H-2, and a flow rate of 0.1 mL min(-1), dicyclohexyl ether was achieved in an 86 % selectivity, at quantitative conversion. By-products from the competitive c-O bond cleavage of DPE, cyclohexanol and cyclohexane, did not exceed 14 % in total. Remarkably, prolonged experiments demonstrated an excellent stability of the catalyst whose performance was unaltered for up to 420 min of time-of-stream. A substrate scope evaluation proved that under the same conditions used for DPE, a variety of substrates including alkoxy-, allyl-, and carbonyl-functionalized phenols, biphenyl, aryl benzyl- and phenethyl ethers (10 examples) yielded the ring-hydrogenated products with selectivity up to 99 % at complete conversion.

Assessing the economics of biologic and small molecule therapies for the treatment of moderate to severe ulcerative colitis in Japan: a cost per responder analysis of upadacitinib

AimPatients with moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis have an increasing number of advanced therapy options including several biologics and Janus kinase inhibitors. Though data on efficacy and safety of these advanced therapies are available, less is known about the potential economic implications of their utilization in Japan. We evaluated the relative value of these advanced therapies in Japan using a locally developed cost per responder *** model was developed using relevant clinical endpoints and treatment costs to calculate cost per responder of all advanced therapies used for moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis treatment in Japan. cost per responder was assessed in biologic-naive and biologic-exposed populations, respectively. The model incorporated induction and maintenance therapy pathways as patients progressed through based on efficacy rates (clinical response, clinical remission and endoscopic improvement). Plant, soil, and microbial biomass ratios of carbon (c), nitrogen (N), and phosphorus (P) are crucial in maintaining stability of desert ecosystems. Nevertheless, variation in relations of elemental ratios between different life forms of plants and soil and microbial biomass in desert ecosystems remains unclear. In a hyper-arid desert ecosystem, c, N, and P concentrations and ratios were analyzed in the plant-soil-microbial biomass system of three perennial desert species (Alhagi sparsifolia Shap. [Herb, Fabaceae], Karelinia caspica Pall. [Herb, non-Fabaceae], and Tamarix ramosissima Ledeb. [Shrub]). concentrations of N and P in Alhagi sparsifolia leaf, stem, and root were significantly greater than those in Karelinia caspica and Tamarix ramosissima, whereas plant c and soil organic c (SOc) were highest with Tamarix ramosissima. Alhagi sparsifolia and Tamarix ramosissima were P-limited, whereas Karelinia caspica was N-limited. According to correlation analysis, SOc rather than soil total P (STP) regulated plant N:P ratios, and microbial biomass c, N, and P rather than SOc, soil total N, and STP regulated plant c:N:P ratios. Soil water content also affected plant nutrient balance. Thus, in a hyper-arid desert ecosystem, the plant-soil-microbial biomass system and the balance of c, N, and P are closely related, and the role of soil microbial biomass in affecting plant nutrient balance should receive increased attention.

Effective resolution of inflammation via the heat shock response (HSR) is pivotal in averting the transition to chronic inflammatory states. This transition characterizes a spectrum of debilitating conditions, including insulin resistance, obesity, type 2 diabetes, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, and cardiovascular ailments. This manuscript explores a range of physiological, pharmacological, and nutraceutical interventions aimed at reinstating the HSR in the context of chronic low-grade inflammation, as well as protocols to assess the HSR. Monitoring the progression or suppression of the HSR in patients and laboratory animals offers predictive insights into the organism's capacity to combat chronic inflammation, as well as the impact of exercise and hyperthermic treatments (e.g., sauna or hot tub baths) on the HSR. Interestingly, a reciprocal correlation exists between the expression of HSR components in peripheral blood leukocytes (PBL) and the extent of local tissue proinflammatory activity in individuals afflicted by chronic inflammatory disorders. Eurasian Grey and White wolf ancestors-800,000 years evolution, adaptation, pathologies and European dog origins

The oldest known wolf appears 800,000 years ago (Marine Isotope Stage 21) in Eurasia with the unspecialized short-legged old Mammoth steppe wolf canis lupus bohemica nov. spec. From this species, about 600,000-420,000 years ago (MIS 15-11), the interglacial canis lupus mosbachensis (Soergel, 1925) short-legged Mosbach grey wolf subspecies roamed Eurasia. In the late Middle Pleistocene, there are two lineages, the southern interglacial grey and northern glacial White wolves in Eurasia. Since 320,000 (MIS 8), the short-legged White wolf canis lupus spelaeus (Goldfuss, 1823) was the glacial Mammoth steppe-adapted wolf. Parallel to the "cave wolf" (found in the German Zoolithen cave), the warm climate grey wolf canis lupus brevis Kuzmina and Sablin, 1994 existed. c. l. spelaeus relates to the Holocene (MIS 1) extant Holarctic Greenland canis lupus arctos and Siberian canis lupus albus (Kerr, 1792). The Late Palaeolithic (MIS 2) "Gravettian Goyet dogs" fall into the DNA pool of c. l. spelaeus and are identified herein as pathological bite trauma individuals, which braincase shortened during the healing process. European prehistoric Neolithic dogs seem to have been imported from central Asia with the Bandkeramik people (approx. 7000 BP) first, which have the stepped frontals originating from grey wolves.

Nontargeted metabolomic evidence for antagonism between tetracycline and its resistance bacteria underlying their obesogenic effects on caenorhabditis elegans

Environmental antibiotics raise serious health concerns due to their contribution to the obesity prevalence. Moreover, antibiotics promote antibiotic-resistance bacteria (ARB) which represent another emerging pollutant. However, the interaction between antibiotic and ARB in the obesogenic effects remained unexplored. In the present study, the obesogenic effects of tetracycline antibiotic (TcH) and ARB containing tetA were studied on c. elegans, and E. coli OP50 (OP50) was referred as a normal bacterial food. Results showed that TcH stimulated nematode triglyceride contents, while ARB alone had no significant influences. The combination of TcH and ARB showed less obesogenic effects than TcH alone, showing antagonism. Biochemical assays showed that the combination of TcH and ARB showed similar effects to ARB alone, and had less increases in lipid metabolism enzymes or metabolites than those of TcH or ARB alone, supporting the antagonism. In the nontargeted metabolomic analysis, TcH with ARB showed less significantly changed metabolites (ScMs) in the nematodes than TcH or ARB alone, partially explaining the antagonism. The metabolomic results also pointed out the significant involvement of amino acids, the carboxylic acids and derivatives, and also the benzene and substituted derivatives in the obesogenic effects of TcH and ARB. The findings of the present study provided a direct support for interaction between antibiotics and ARB underlying their health risks.

An updated cost-effectiveness analysis of axicabtagene ciloleucel in second-line large B-cell lymphoma patients in the United States

AimsThis economic evaluation of axicabtagene ciloleucel (axi-cel) versus previous standard of care (SOc;salvage chemotherapy followed by high-dose therapy with autologous stem cell rescue) in the second line (2L) large B-cell lymphoma population is an update of previous economic models that contained immature survival *** analysis is based on primary overall survival (OS) ZUMA-7 clinical trial data (median follow-up of 47.2 months), from a United States (US) payer perspective, with a model time horizon of 50 years. Mixture cure models were used to extrapolate updated survival data;subsequent treatment data and costs were updated. Patients who remained in the event-free survival state by 5 years were assumed to have achieved long-term remission and not require subsequent *** survival and quality of life benefits were observed despite 57% of patients in the SOc arm receiving subsequent cellular therapy: median model-projected (ZUMA-7 trial Kaplan-Meier estimated) OS was 78 months (median not reached) for axi-cel versus 25 months (31 months) for SOc, resulting in incremental quality-adjusted life year (QALY) difference of 1.63 in favor of axi-cel. Incrementally higher subsequent treatment costs were observed in the SOc arm due to substantial crossover to cellular therapies, thus, when considering the generally accepted willingness to pay threshold of $150,000 per QALY in the US, axi-cel was cost-effective with an incremental cost-effectiveness ratio of $98,040 per *** remained consistent across a wide range of sensitivity and scenario analysis, including a crossover adjusted analysis, suggesting that the mature OS data has significantly reduced the uncertainty of axi-cel's cost-effectiveness in the 2L setting in the US. Relationship analyses on environmental factors-ablation performance based on Zrc-Tac system: Oxygen partial pressure and gas flow scouring

For better understanding on effects of ablation environmental factors (oxygen partial pressure P(O2) and gas flow scouring), multiple experiments and multiscale simulations based on thermally sprayed Zrc-Tac system were conducted. High P(O2) was found helpful to accelerate Ta2O5/ZrO2 mutual diffusion by variable P(O2) oxidation at 1500 degrees c (5-50 kPa). Effects of gas flow scouring was evaluated by flow filed simulation coupling laser and oxyacetylene ablations, from which its promotion effect on Ta2O5/ZrO2 diffusion efficiency was found. The increased Ta2O5/ZrO2 diffusion efficiency will accelerate the structure instability of Ta doped c-ZrO2 skeletons due to Zr-O bond length extension around Ta atoms.
