The concept of memory management in c programming language is particularly challenging for novice programmers. consequently, many researchers have proposed program visualization tools to alleviate these difficulties: for example, Seec is one of the state-of-the-art tools for visualizing the behavior and execution status of c programs. However, three problems (P1-3) remain in Seec, as well as in other existing visualization tools. P1 (Usability): Seec requires many steps to revisualize modified source code. P2 (capability): Seec does not fully support dynamic memory allocation. P3 (Installability): novice programmers often find installation of Seec challenging due to its dependency on clang. We propose a new visualization tool named PlayVisualizerc (PVc) for novice c programmers, which provides three solutions (S1-3) for P1-3. S1: PVc reduces the steps required for revisualization. S2: complete support for dynamic memory allocation. S3: designed to be installed in the user's web browser. From a small-scale experiment and a questionnaire given to 20 students, we found that a set of four programming tasks were solved 1.8 times faster and 24% more correctly using PVc.

The authors aimed to develop an application for producing different architectures to implement dual tree complex wavelet transform (DTcWT) having near shift-invariance property. To obtain a low-cost and portable solution for implementing the DTcWT in multi-channel real-time applications, various embedded-system approaches are realised. For comparison, the DTcWT was implemented in c language on a personal computer and on a PIc microcontroller. However, in the former approach portability and in the latter desired speed performance properties cannot be achieved. Hence, implementation of the DTcWT on a reconfigurable platform such as field programmable gate array, which provides portable, low-cost, low-power, and high-performance computing, is considered as the most feasible solution. At first, they used the system generator DSP design tool of Xilinx for algorithm design. However, the design implemented by using such tools is not optimised in terms of area and power. To overcome all these drawbacks mentioned above, they implemented the DTcWT algorithm by using Verilog Hardware Description language, which has its own difficulties. To overcome these difficulties, simplify the usage of proposed algorithms and the adaptation procedures, a code generator program that can produce different architectures is proposed.

This paper deals with usage of single-chip computers for collection of data and control. The aim is to design a general control system, which is easy to use and easy to implement for other laboratory tasks. Performance of control system is limited by performance of used McU (PIc 16F873A) and its peripherals (2xPWM, 5xA/D.). Main task of McU are communication with upper level and implementation of required control action together with data collection. communication between control system (IPc) and McUs is provided by serial interface. In the first step control system defines initialization of McU (reset needed) for desired laboratory task then continues with the control application. Everything is controlled and monitored from ScADA/HMI system called control Web. Application is accessible via Internet browser in local network.

Optimizations, transformations and analyses are applied to programs by compilers at the intermediate representation level, which usually does not include explicit variable declarations. This description level is fine for middle-ends and for source-to-source optimizers of simple languages. Meanwhile, the c language has become much more flexible since the c99 standard, and let variable and type declarations appear almost anywhere in source code. We present in this paper a new concept to manage c99 declarations in a source-to-source compiler: the Effects Dependence Graph, which is an extension of the classical Data Dependence Graph. It deals particularly efficiently with user-defined type declarations or dependent types like Variable-Length Array. It is also interesting because no legal scheduling transformation is hindered and because existing algorithms are either not or slightly modified. Finally it reduces the need for variable, struct and array privatization or live range analyses in automatic parallelizers. To the best of our knowledge, the declaration issue is ignored in the literature: existing c source-to-source compilers either do not support c99, or accept only restricted portions of code, and production compilers use low- level intermediate representations, possibly with annotations. In this way our solution addresses a wider range of compiler analysis issues.

FRAMA-c is an extensible modular framework for analysis of c programs that offers different analyzers in the form of collaborating plugins. currently, FRAMA-c does not support the proof of functional properties of concurrent code. We present cONc2SEQ, a new code transformation based tool realized as a FRAMA-c plugin and dedicated to the verification of concurrent c programs. Assuming the program under verification respects an interleaving semantics, cONc2SEQ transforms the original concurrent c program into a sequential one in which concurrency is simulated by interleavings. User specifications are automatically reintegrated into the new code without manual intervention. The goal of the proposed code transformation technique is to allow the user to reason about a concurrent program through the interleaving semantics using existing FRAMA-c analyzers.

Induced polarization detection system (induced polarization instrument for short) conducts prospecting and solves geological problems by the induced polarization method in electric prospecting. The induced polarization instrument includes hardware and software parts. Hardware is mainly composed of main control unit, transmitter unit and receiver unit and power supply unit. System software implemented with c programming language and completed the development of core drivers and related applications, and can realize the human-machine interaction. The schematic circuit diagram is prepared through Altium Designer software. The instrument is assembled after making PcB, and many field tests are carried out. Test data show that the instrument can properly collect potential information, and meet the design requirements.

c is a basic computer language widely used in both industry and education. Many computer programming beginners choose c as the first computer language to learn. But it is difficult for the beginners, especially for high-school students, to learn c programming because the learning supporting environment is not enough. This research proposes PROVIT(PROgramming VIsualization Tool) for Web, an e-Learning supporting environment for c programming education. PROVIT for Web has many features: (1) It can be used to write, run and check c programs without installing any IDE;(2) It especially can be used at lecture to show the execution of c program step by step;and (3) It can detect more run time error often seen in beginner's program. Web PROVIT has been used in a c programming course in author's university. This paper reports the design, implementation and the result of experimental use of PROVIT for Web.

The c source codes can be embedded into the simulation model by the interface technology of custom modules in PScAD, which can realize the closed-loop simulation at source code level for digital relays in Smart Grid. The method in this paper has improved the calling interface and the data interface. The realization process and effects are explained by an instance. The calling interface is implemented by calling a FORTRAN function in the script of custom modules. It will make debugging the c source codes much simpler. The data interface is realized directly by the input and output ports of custom modules, which will avoid the usage of complex public arrays. The proposed method can be used to verify the c source codes embedded in an actual protection relay flexibly and simply. It is especially suitable for the transition stage from studying principles to developing a device, because the developers can validate the source codes independent of a physical device, and will improve the efficiency greatly.

The clawZ toolset has been successful in verifying that Ada code is correctly generated from Simulink models in an industrial setting, using the Z notation. D-RisQ is now extending this technique to new domains of the c programming language, which requires changes to their highly complex proof technique. In this paper, we present initial results in the technology transfer of the graphical PSGraph language to support this extension, and show feasibility of PSGraph for industrial use with strong maintainability requirements.

This paper describes the retargeting and further enhancement of a compact multitasking kernel for the 32-bit Altera Nios II processor. The kernel, called QUERK for Queen's University Educational Real-time Kernel, was originally written in assembly language and then the c language for the Motorola (and then Freescale) 68Hc11 processor. consisting of less than 200 lines of assembly-language instructions, the kernel was intended for educational purposes on undergraduate laboratory equipment in use at the time it was created. The software also supported undergraduate capstone project activity. To migrate the software to the 32-bit Altera Nios II processor that subsequently replaced the 8-bit 68Hc11 in undergraduate laboratory activity, and to investigate issues arising from differences between the two instruction sets, this paper describes the retargeting of the kernel at the level of assembly language. The results reveal that the number of assembly-language source instructions for the base kernel with relinquish, block, and unblock services increased by less than 9% for the Nios II in comparison to the 68Hc11. Although many additional instructions are needed to save and restore the larger number of registers for the Nios II, reductions in the number of instructions needed in other parts of the kernel aid in offsetting that increase in instructions. Further enhancements of the kernel are also described with support for timer delay requests, dynamic memory management, and interprocess communication with message passing. Potential future enhancements are also described.
