Application of Metaprogramming and Generic Programming in Multiscale Modeling

Numerical modeling is a tool commonly used by both researchers and engineers. For several reasons, the quality of scientific codes frequently deprecates. One of the possible remedies is the application of advanced programming and software development methods. In this paper, we introduce the application of metaprogramming and generic programming in c++ to control the correctness of multiscale models. Additionally, it is shown how both methods increase reusability and quality of the code. A short introduction to metaprogramming and generic programming is included, as well as the proof of the concept. Exemplary codes are also included and discussed.

Electric power distribution systems play an important role in electric power systems, in which automation intelligent distribution terminal units are critical for the performance of power distribution systems. The software of an automation intelligent electric power distribution terminal unit based on digital signal processor is designed in the paper, a way of admixture programming with c language and assembly language. In this manner, real-time requirement on the electric power distribution system will be satisfied, the reliability and stability of the software are ensured as while. It has a broad application prospects in electric power systems.

Incomplete source code naturally emerges in software development: during the design phase, while evolving, testing and analyzing programs. Therefore, the ability to understand partial programs is a valuable asset. However, this problem is still unsolved in the c programming language. Difficulties stem from the fact that parsing c requires, not only syntax, but also semantic information. Furthermore, inferring types so that they respect c's type system is a challenging task. In this paper we present a technique that lets us solve these problems. We provide a unification-based type inference capable of dealing with c intricacies. The ideas we present let us reconstruct partial c programs into complete well-typed ones. Such program reconstruction has several applications: enabling static analysis tools in scenarios where software components may be absent;improving static analysis tools that do not rely on build-specifications;allowing stub-generation and testing tools to work on snippets;and assisting programmers on the extraction of reusable data-structures out of the program parts that use them. Our evaluation is performed on source code from a variety of c libraries such as GNU's coreutils, GNULib, GNOME's GLib, and GDSL;on implementations from Sedgewick's books;and on snippets from popular open-source projects like cPython, FreeBSD, and Git.

Square Matrix Multiplication Using cUDA on GP-GU

This paper focuses on matrix multiplication algorithm, particularly square parallel matrix multiplication using computer Unified Device Architecture (cUDA) programming model with c programming language. Matrix multiplication is under the list of time-consuming problems that require s huge computational resources to improve its speedup. As many studies have shown, it is not easy to achieve high performance speedup in sequential matrix multiplication algorithm using larger input. The emphasis of this study is to propose a parallel algorithm to calculate the product of two square matrices with improved speedup performance compared to the sequential and OpenMP algorithms. In this research, biruni (super machine workstation) in the School of computer Sciences, USM, Malaysia with General Purpose Graphics Processing Unit (GP-GU) was used to parallelize the matrix product algorithm. A comparison between parallel OpenMp versions and sequential algorithm with the proposed cUDA based algorithm of this research was carried out to evaluate the speedup performance of the proposed parallel cUDA based algorithm. The overall results show that cUDA based parallel matrix multiplication is approximately 400 times faster than sequential matrix multiplication and 4 times faster than OpenMp matrix multiplication algorithms, respectively. Therefore, the proposed parallel algorithm can help the researchers working with matrix multiplication application problems. It can also help mathematicians to easily calculate the product of any two matrices and obtain the result in a shorter time.

The Lorenz curve, from which the Gini coefficient is derived, is traditionally applied to analyze social phenomena of inequality or unfairness. The mathematical model, however, has tended to be employed to investigate large-scale macro-economic issues. As a combination of segmented mathematical methods for computing, it involves a highly complicated computing procedure. To prevent such a weakness on the one hand and to expand the range of applications on the other hand, the present study first implements the integrated Gini coefficient computer toolbox based on the c language. The model, which is originally applied for economics, can be employed to relevant areas. The salaries of University teachers serve as the object of analysis, the analysis of which can verify the convenience and reasonableness of this mathematical approach.

For performance reasons, c++, albeit unsafe, is often the programming language of choice for developing software infrastructures. A serious type of security vulnerability in c++ programs is type confusion, which may lead to program crashes and control flow hijack attacks. While existing mitigation solutions almost exclusively rely on dynamic analysis techniques, which suffer from low code coverage and high overhead, static analysis has rarely been investigated. This paper presents TcD, a static type confusion detector built on top of a precise demand-driven field-, context-and flow-sensitive pointer analysis. Unlike existing pointer analyses, TcD is type-aware as it not only preserves the type information in the pointed-to objects but also handles complex language features of c++ such as multiple inheritance and placement new, making it therefore possible to reason about type casting in c++ programs. We have implemented TcD in LLVM and evaluated it using seven c++ applications (totaling 526,385 lines of c++ code) from Qt, a widely-adopted c++ toolkit for creating GUIs and cross-platform software. TcD has found five type confusion bugs, including one reported previously in prior work and four new ones, in under 7.3 hours, with a low false positive rate of 28.2%.

With the application of ScADA (Supervisory control and Data Acquisition) is becoming more and more extensive in the national critical infrastructure. At the same time, compared with conventional control system, the data communication of ScADA system becomes more diverse and complex, and the communication system is more likely to be attacked, so improving the level of information security of ScADA system is very important and urgent. However, the wide application of DES has a short key in the world, which cannot meet the demand of the current network security. In this paper, ADES (Advanced Data Encryption Standard) algorithm is proposed and implemented in the c++ language, which is based on the deep research of data encryption methods and DES algorithm particularly. The method extends the length of DES from 64 bits to 128 bits. The function of ADES algorithm is closed to SM4 by experimental result, so the ADES can well meet the requirement of data transmission security.

This paper presents a comparison between PID controller and Fuzzy rule based controller of a differentially steered wall following mobile robot. Four different maps, generated using Mapper3 software are used to simulate the robot in MobileSim platform. The code was implemented using c++ language in ARIA development package. The robot simulation is performed with Pioneer P3-DX robot. In this study, the data was collected for each cases such as: left wall following and right wall following. In order to validate the results, maximum of 40 runs were conducted for each map and the results were compared with the illustrated methods.

Many researchers have proposed program visualization tools for memory management because this is a challenging concept for novice programmers. For example, Seec and PythonTutor (PT) are state-of-the-art tools for c languages. However, three problems hinder the use of these and other tools: capability (P1), installability (P2), and usability (P3). (P1) Tools do not fully support dynamic memory allocation or File Input / Output (I/O) and Standard Input. (P2) Novice programmers often have difficulty installing Seec due to its dependence on clang and setting up an offline environment that uses PT. (P3) Revisualization of the modified source code in Seec requires several steps. To alleviate these issues, we propose a new visualization tool called PlayVisualizerc (PVc). PVc, which is designed for novice c language programmers to provide solutions (S1-3) for P1-3. S1 offers complete support for dynamic memory allocation, standard I/O, and file I/O. S2 involves installation in a user web browser and its server program is initiated by executing a jar file. S3 reduces the steps required for revisualization. To evaluate PVc, we conducted an experiment and questionnaire involving 30 students. Students using PVc solved a set of four programming tasks on average 1.7 times faster and with 19% more correct answers than those using a current state-of-the-art visualization tool.

Flocking behavior is an exercise in both control and coordination. Members need to move in near-perfect time with each other to maintain a safe, but compact, distance amongst themselves. This balance could have a number of useful applications, ranging from automated vehicles to power grid coordination. Moreover, per Reynolds (1987), flocking behavior can be summarized as an algorithm, which automated systems can easily consume. Inspired by this premise, the group blueprinted a robot flock using Turtlebot3 Burgers and Robot Operating System, or ROS. To begin, the group created an algorithm in Scratch, a graphical programming language. Per Reynolds' model, as long as each individual member knows and follows the algorithm, a flock will form without any outside influence. The group theorized that this modular approach would bide well with the ROS system of nodes and messages. By deeming each member a flocking node and having a remote “master” perform functions such as localization, the ROS framework would naturally support robot flocking. However, after transcribing their program to c++, the group found some ongoing issues in development. They struggled to adapt ROS's message commands into their program, and the Burgers' given localization program had trouble supporting a multi-robot flock. Regardless, with further research, the group still believes that ROS can give rise to a viable flock.
