Among the methods of fault diagnosis based on the current analysis for Squirrel Cage Induction Motors (SCIM), the fault characteristic components are often submerged by fundamental component and noises, especially for the broken rotor bars. The clean algorithm is a kind of relaxant data processing algorithms for additive noises and system errors. A new approach based on clean algorithms for fault diagnosis and monitoring in SCIM is proposed in this paper, the clean algorithm is used to extract the characteristic components for the fundamental one of power, and estimates the discrete-time spectrum parameter of particular fault from the continuous spectrum of the noise and mixed waves, which can eliminate the effective of power and noise and highlight the fault characteristic components. At last experimental results have demonstrated the effectiveness and advantage of the proposed technique.

In this paper, we present measurement results of ultra-wideband propagation in selected indoor and outdoor environments, including forest and dense scrub. The measurement setup and procedure is described. The measurements have been performed using a time-domain measurement system consisting of a pulse generator and a sampling oscilloscope. Then, post-processing of the recorded data is described. First, we apply the clean algorithm in order to study and compare the multipath nature of the investigated propagation channels. Then we present the power gain profiles.

A deconvolution algorithm is proposed to account for the distortions of impulse shape introduced by propagation process. By finding the best correlation of the received waveform with the multiple templates, the number of multipath components is reduced as the result of eliminating the ＂phantom paths＂, and the captured energy increases. Moreover, it needs only a single reference measurement in real measurement environment （do not need the anechoic chamber）, which by far simplifies the templates acquiring procedure.

Hybrid interference suppression for multistatic radar

The accurate estimation of a monostatic radar range pro. le is considered when in the presence of multistatic radar interference for which the illuminating waveforms are assumed known. In an effort to approach the ideal interference-free performance, the range-domain 'beamforming' properties of the recently developed multistatic adaptive pulse compression ( MAPC) algorithm is herein combined with the well-known clean algorithm which operates on an interference-subtraction basis. Two versions of this hybridised methodology are presented and compared. To ascertain relative sensitivity, both the mean-squared error and the probability of detection are examined as a function of SNR when in the presence of multistatic interference. It is demonstrated that the respective merits of MAPC and clean can be used to offset the limitations of the other and thereby combine to provide significant additional sensitivity improvement.

In order to improve the anti-interference performance, the high-frequency surface wave radar uses several discontinuous clear frequency bands for transmission. Spectral discontinuity causes high range sidelobes which influence detecting and identifying the targets. A novel modified clean algorithm is proposed to remove the sidelobes interferences of the equivalent matched processing result of the received signals. The simulation results show that the method can not only suppress the range sidelobes efficiently but also enhance the range resolution greatly.

Improvement of the scattering center extraction by using the modified approximate prolate series interpolants

The three-dimensional (3D) scattering center model of a complex target can be obtained from the 3D inverse synthetic aperture (ISAR) image by using the clean algorithm. To form the ISAR image from the results of a shooting-and-bouncing- ray (SBR) analysis, the image is updated on a ray-by-ray basis using a ray-spread function, which turns out to be a '' sine '' function. The '' sine '' function does not decay rapidly, yielding a harsh trade-off: in case the full '' sine '' function is used, the algorithm becomes computationally intense. On the other hand, if it is truncated, convergence problems arise. To solve this tradeoff problem, the use of a band-limited interpolant function, namely, modified approximate prolate series (MAPS) is proposed instead of the '' sine '' function. The suggested MAPS can be shown to have better truncation error bounds than other ray spread functions. By using the suggested MAPS functions, the sidelobe artifacts are minimized and the computational complexity is decreased while extracting the scattering centers with correct positions, amplitudes, and better resolution. Determination of vertical displacements over the coastal area of Korea due to the ocean tide loading using GPS observations

This paper describes the GPS applicability for detecting the vertical displacements of ground stations caused by ocean tide loading effects. An experiment was carried out using 12 permanent GPS stations located in the coastal area of Korea using data in the period 1 July until 26 August 2003. The relative height differences were calculated from hourly DGPS data processing based on the carrier-phase observation. The power spectra of the M-2 and N-2 constituents of ocean tide loading were derived using the clean algorithm. The differential vertical displacements generated by the ocean tide loading effect are typically 3-25 mm in coastal area of the Korea. We compared the results from GPS with those of the ocean tide models, NAO.99Jb regional model and GOT00.2, FES99 global models. The M-2 (N-2) amplitude differences of vertical displacements between GPS and GOT00.2 is 1.22 +/- 3.61 mm (1.01 +/- 1.48 mm), and that of the M-2 (N-2) amplitude difference between GPS and FES99 is 0.04 +/- 4.64 mm (0.64 +/- 1.75 mm), whereas the M-2 (N-2) amplitude difference between GPS and NAO.99Jb are 0.05 +/- 1.03 mm (0.86 +/- 1.18 mm). The highest vertical displacements at the PALM station are found for 24.5 +/- 0.7 mm from GPS observation, and 22.9 mm from the regional model NAO.99Jb and 13.17 and 10.00 mm from the global models GOT00.2 and FES99, respectively. These values show that the vertical displacements derived from GPS are in good agreement with those of the regional model NAO.99Jb around Korea, more than with the global models. This result indicated that GPS is an effective tool to measure the vertical displacement caused by the ocean tide loading effect in the coastal area, and we need to use the NAO.99Jb ocean tide model rather than the global ocean tide models in and around the Korean peninsula for position determination with permanent GPS installations. Time-domain ultra-wideband (UWB) channel characterization with deconvolution has become increasingly popular. However, owing to the nature of the frequency-selective non-line-of-sight channel on a general wideband channel-sounding pulse, the a priori assumption of the clean deconvolution algorithm does not necessarily hold. Moreover, the assumption of a fixed a priori can easily be violated since the radio-wave propagation mechanisms experienced by the sounding pulse can be frequency-selective. This paper first summarizes the use of the clean algorithm in UWB channel characterization, including a discussion about the a priori assumption, enhancements made to the basic algorithm, and the effect of the a priori assumption on channel characteristics. A study of the a priori dependence is then presented along with real-world measurements to demonstrate the shortcomings of the single-template clean algorithm. Finally, a high-resolution, multi-template deconvolution algorithm is proposed to enhance the channel estimation performance. This algorithm incorporates realistic frequency-dependent pulse distortions and is shown to supersede its predecessors by being computationally efficient, simple, accurate, and deployable for point-to-point measurements.

Image residue approach for masked targets detection and estimation

We propose a new approach to the detection of masked targets and the estimation of target parameters with significant computational savings over standard approaches to this problem based on the clean algorithm. In particular, our approach implements the clean process efficiently because only a few select samples are used instead of using all samples from the matched filter output. For situations in which the signal amplitude and phase need to be estimated, we propose a modified data model for the algorithm so that these parameters and the image residues can be estimated simultaneously. We also provide a detection algorithm having a quantitative way for selecting detection samples and residue samples such that the detection performance is optimized.
