Quality assessment of several agricultural commodities requires measurement of several quality attributes to determine their value, optimum processing conditions, and conditions for safe storage. A dielectric-based calibration algorithm is proposed for simultaneous and nondestructive determination of three quality attributes of in-shell nuts, namely, bulk density, moisture contents (pods, kernels, and shells), and "meat" content from the measurement of their dielectric properties at a single microwave frequency. The calibration algorithm relies on the existence of direct correlations between the quality attributes and the dielectric properties of in-shell nuts measured at a single microwave frequency. The performance of this algorithm is demonstrated through measurements on in-shell peanuts with a low-cost microwave sensor operating at 5.8 GHz. calibration equations correlating each quality attribute with in-shell peanuts' dielectric properties are given along with the standard error of calibration.

The cross-track infrared sounder has been operated in the full spectral resolution (FSR) mode since December 4, 2014. To provide the FSR radiance spectra with a spectral resolution of 0.625 cm(-1) for all the three bands, a new calibration algorithm has been developed and implemented for operational uses. The algorithm is an improvement over the previous algorithm that had been operationally used until March 2017. Major changes include the calibration equation, self-apodization correction and resampling matrices, and calibration filter. Compared to the previous algorithm, the improvement reduces the calibration inconsistencies among the nine fields of view and between the forward and reverse interferometer sweep directions by up to 0.5 K, and the differences between observed and simulated spectra by up to 0.4 K.

The shift step must be an accurate value in the traditional algorithm of phase-measuring profilometry (PMP) technology, the result error is found in unequal step-shifting in which one or more step is not the accurate value. So the phase shifter is expensive to meet the high precision. In this paper, the software is made to give a chart of error phase in any Unequal Step Phase-shifting, and a calibration algorithm is presented to give the correct phase based on this error-phase chart. With the help of computer emluator written by us, the calibration algorithm based on checking proved to be correct. So the precise request of phase shifter is reduced greatly.

Numerical simulation of calibration algorithm based on inverse kinematics of the parallel mechanism

This paper explores the numerical simulation of the calibration algorithm for the parallel mechanism with six degrees of freedoms (DOFs), aiming to verify the algorithm's robustness and effectiveness. Specifically, a Matlab-based numerical simulation method was proposed in light of the error modelling theory on inverse kinematics of the parallel mechanism. By this method, the actual poses are calculated through negative and forward kinematics models from the nominal values and errors of the parameters and several groups of nominal poses;then, the measuring uncertainty is introduced to derive the measured poses, and thus the pose errors;after that, the structural parameters are recognized by the least squares (LS) method, yielding the corrected values of the parameters;next, the corrected poses and pose errors were obtained through error compensation. The simulation results show that the positioning precision of the parallel mechanism was significantly improved through multiple iterations, indicating that the calibration algorithm is both robust and effective. The research findings lay a solid basis for subsequent calibration experiments.

A New calibration algorithm Using Reference Materials for the Waveguide-Penetration Method

The waveguide-penetration method is a method to measure the electrical properties of materials. In this method, a cylindrical object pierces a rectangular waveguide through a pair of holes at the centre of its broad walls. Then, the complex permittivity and permeability of the object are estimated from measured S-parameters after TRL calibration. This paper proposes a new calibration algorithm for the waveguide-penetration method. Reference materials with known electrical properties are fabricated in cylindrical shapes to fit into the holes in the waveguide and are used as calibration standards. The algorithm is formulated using the property of equal traces in similar matrices, and we show that at least two reference materials are needed to calibrate the system. The proposed algorithm yields a simpler means of calibration compared to TRL and is verified using measurements in the S-band. Also, the error sensitivity coefficients are derived. These coefficients give valuable information for the selection of reference materials.

In this paper,a new adaptive calibration algorithm for image steganalysis is *** disturbs the dependence between neighboring pixels and decreases the neighborhood node ***,we analyzed the effect of steganography on the neighborhood node degree of cover ***,the calibratable pixels are marked by the analysis of neighborhood node ***,the strong correlation calibration image is constructed by revising the calibratable *** results reveal that compared with secondary steganography the image calibration method significantly increased the detection accuracy for LSB matching steganography on low embedding *** proposed method also has a better performance against spatial steganography.

The decoy-state method for the quantum key distribution (QKD) is a great countermeasure against the fatal photon number splitting attack. At present, the decoy-state method has been widely employed in practical QKD systems. However, the patterning effect, namely the correlated intensity fluctuations in practical QKD systems, violates the important assumption of the decoy-state method and seriously threatens the protocol security. The previous works investigated the patterning effect between the adjacent pulses and proposed the countermeasures from the degree of post selection and modulators. In this work, we investigate the patterning effect with larger correlation range and present an algorithm to calibrate the driving voltages to mitigate the patterning effect. According to our methods, we experimentally observe the higher-order patterning effect and successfully mitigate it by our calibration algorithm. The experiment results indicate that our methods efficiently improve the protocol security and are expected to be widely employed in practical decoy-state QKD systems.

Design of a Real-time Self-adjusting calibration algorithm to Improve the Accuracy of Continuous Blood Glucose Monitoring

The aim of this study is to establish a real-time self-adjusting calibration algorithm to compensate for signal drift and sensitivity attenuation of subcutaneous implantable glucose sensors. A real-time self-adjusting in vivo calibration method was designed based on the one-point calibration model. The current signal was compensated in real-time and the sensitivity was calibrated regularly. The least squares method was used to fit the initial parameters of the model, and then, the in vivo monitored current data was calibrated. Comparing with the mean absolute relative difference (MARD) of the blood glucose concentration by the traditional one-point calibration model (22.85 +/- 5.76%), the MARD of the blood glucose concentration calibrated by the real-time self-adjusting in vivo calibration method was 6.28 +/- 2.31%. The accuracy of the dynamic blood glucose monitoring was effectively improved. This calibration algorithm could compensate the signal drift in real time and correct sensitivity regularly to improve the accuracy of dynamic glucose monitoring, thus significantly enhancing diabetic self-management.

Error analysis and improved calibration algorithm for LED chip localization system based on visual feedback

Positioning accuracy of chip directly impacts on the quality and efficiency of LED chip production. The purpose of this paper is to improve the chip positioning accuracy by improving the camera calibration algorithm of LED chip visual positioning system. Firstly, by making the error analysis for the visual positioning system, the systematic errors of each parts of the system are obtained, and the relationship between chip positioning error and chip position distribution in image is found. Then, according to the result of error analysis and the characteristics of the chip positioning process, an improved calibration algorithm is proposed to improve the chip positioning accuracy. This improved algorithm solves the calibration parameters in two steps, which highlights the main cause of errors in calibration process and meets the requirements of chip positioning. Finally, the experiment results show that the proposed algorithm can improve the chip positioning accuracy obviously, and has good stability and robustness.

Novel calibration algorithm of Multiport Wideband Receivers Based on Real-Valued Time-Delay Neural Networks

In this paper, a novel calibration algorithm based on real-valued time-delay neural network (RVTDNN) is proposed for the multiport receiver to recover I/Q signals from the received modulated signals, especially from wideband signals. All the system impairments, including the nonideal six-port correlator, the nonlinearity of the diodes, and the memory effects under the excitation of the wideband signals, are taken into consideration. The RVTDNN, which has three layers, consists of four inputs and two outputs (in-phase and quadrature signals), and its parameters (biases and weights) are all real-valued and are determined by the backpropagation algorithm. Finally, the proposed calibration method is validated by a 2-18-GHz six-port receiver under 3G and 4G signals. The performance of the error vector magnitude between the transmitted signals and received signals is always less than 1.8%, which validates the correctness of the proposed model.
