Research on Concentricity Detection Method of Automobile Brake Piston Parts Based on Improved canny algorithm

The automotive brake piston component is an important part of the automotive brake system, and the concentricity detection of the first piston component is crucial to ensure driving safety. In this paper, an improved canny algorithm is proposed for non-contact detection of spring concentricity of the first piston component. Firstly, the traditional canny algorithm is improved by replacing the Gaussian filter with a bilateral filter to fully retain the edge information, and accurate edge detection results are obtained by constructing a multi-scale analysis. After obtaining the edge images, a sub-pixel edge detection method with gray moments is introduced to optimize these edges;secondly, a circle is fitted to the extracted edge points by using the RANSAC algorithm to determine the center position and radius of the circle;and finally, the concentricity of the first piston part is calculated based on the fitting results. The experimental results are compared with those of the CMM and the traditional canny algorithm, and the results show that the improved canny algorithm reduces the coaxiality error by 4% and enables effective measurement of the concentricity of the first piston assembly spring.

For the anti-corrosion measure, the nonconductive protection coating is normally deployed over the surface of the conductive structure which is widely utilized in the engineering fields including aerospace, nuclear energy, etc. Nevertheless, due to hostile and corrosive environments, hidden corrosion buried right beneath the nonconductive coating, namely Corrosion Under Coating (CUC) has been found occurring in the conductor surface, and severely undermines the structural integrity. Therefore, it is imperative to non-invasively interrogate CUC via Non-destructive Evaluation (NDE) techniques without removing the protection coating. Pulse-modulation Eddy Current technique (PMEC) has been identified to be advantageous over Pulsed Eddy Current testing (PEC) in higher inspection sensitivity to hidden corrosion and accuracy of corrosion imaging. It could be a promising and preferable NDE technique for evaluation of CUC. In this paper, PMEC for recognition and evaluation of the opening profile of CUC is intensively investigated through simulations and experiments. Based on the Extended Truncated Region Eigenfunction Expansion (ETREE) modelling, closed-form expressions of PMEC responses to CUC are formulated. A series of simulations are conducted to compare the evaluation sensitivity of PMEC to CUC with that of PEC. Following this, experiments for profile recognition and evaluation of CUC via PMEC are conducted. The improved canny algorithm is proposed to enhance the accuracy in identification and assessment of the CUC profile. The results from simulations and experiments reveal that: (1) PMEC is superior to PEC in terms of evaluation sensitivity to CUC;and (2) in conjunction with the improved canny algorithm, PMEC is capable of identifying and evaluating the CUC profile without much loss in accuracy.

This paper presents an improved canny algorithm for locating the edges of cupping spots with an aim toward solving the problem that these edges cannot be completely detected due to the presence of pores, texture, and other impurities on the skin surface. First, hybrid filtering, the four-direction Sobel operator, and the maximum inter-class variance (Otsu) algorithm are introduced to improve the original canny algorithm, enhancing its adaptability and accuracy in edge localization. Second, the binary image in the CIE L*a*b* color space is used as a mask area to fuse with the obtained edge image. Finally, the edge images of the fused image and the channel a* image are merged to yield the final detection image. The experimental results demonstrate that compared to the traditional canny algorithm, the improved algorithm can clearly detect the edge of cupping spots from cupping therapy in traditional Chinese medicine, fully demonstrating the feasibility and effectiveness of the algorithm.

Automatic Lineament Extraction Method in Mineral Exploration Using canny algorithm and Hough Transform

Copper mineralization in Kahang porphyry mining district as a tectonically active region in the center of Iran, at the middle of Urmia-Dokhtar magmatic assemblage (UDMA), has been drastically controlled by structural lineaments. Determination of these footprint features is a good guide to identify the location of ore occurrences. One way to recognize lineaments is to process satellite imagery along with geophysical data. Although the visual extraction of lineaments from such data set is the most common method, automatic methods for detecting lineaments can highly reduce user errors and runtime. The most efficient automated methods in this regard are those that simultaneously take edge detection filters with lineament extraction algorithms into consideration. In this work, the canny algorithm was employed as an edge-detector filter at first and later Hough transform was used to extract linear features from satellite imagery and geophysical magnetometry data. The proposed methods were implemented on the high-resolution imagery data collected by QuickBird satellite along with ground-based magnetometry data to extract the shallow and deep-seated lineaments. After investigating and plotting this structural controller in a map, the dominant orientation was in the NE-SW direction perpendicular to the UDMA. Generated lineament density map also indicated that the eastern, southeast, and western portions of the area had high potential for porphyry copper mineralization.

canny algorithm is one of the most widely used edge detection methods based on the optimal thought. However, it still has some drawbacks. In this paper an adaptive edge detection model based on improved canny algorithm is proposed. Firstly, we replace the Gaussian smooth in standard canny algorithm by the proposed morphology method to highlight the edge information and reduce the noise;secondly, the fractional differential theory is utilized to calculate gradient value, which further eliminate noise and enhance image details;next, we propose an interpolation method for non-maximum suppression, leading to a more accurate edge location;finally, a method based on Otsu's threshold method is proposed to get adaptive threshold. Compared with canny algorithm and other existing methods, the proposed method has better detection accuracy and robustness.

Lane detection is one important process in the vision-based vehicle assist system. The results of lane edge detection play an important role in feature-based lane detection. The complicated conditions of road make the correct edge detection of lane markings become very challenging. In order to get an ideal edge of lane markings in road image, a method of lane edge detection based on canny algorithm is proposed. Firstly according to the importance in lane markings recognition, the road image is divided into three regions. Only the regions with useful information are processed. Then by the features of gray distribution and lane markings width, some noises are removed from the image. Using the shape features of lane markings, the lane edges are detected based on canny algorithm. Finally by use of the Hough transform theory, lane detection is achieved. Experimental results show that the proposed method is effective.

Some edge detection algorithms based on spatial and wavelet technology can detect image edge of limited direction effectively. Since these algorithms haven't fully utilized field information, there would be great error around the complex edge area in the detection results. To solve such kind of problem, a novel edge detection algorithm by combining non-sub-sampled contourlet transform (NSCT) and canny algorithm is proposed in this paper. Simulation results are displayed to prove that this algorithm can extract more image edge details than canny algorithm and it also has good continuity and robustness.

Aiming at the problem that the gray contrast of packaging bag patterns is not obvious in edge detection, an edge detection method of packaging bags based on improved canny algorithm is proposed. First, the image is grayscale stretched. Second, the threshold is determined adaptively using Augmented Otsu. Enhanced Otsu adaptation makes the edge information of the detected image richer and the overall information more complete. Third, the obtained threshold is input into the canny algorithm to obtain the edge detection result. Finally, the experimental results are analyzed and the information entropy is calculated. The results show that the edge image output by the improved canny algorithm is richer in edge information, and the information entropy is increased by 12.63%, 5.09%, 3.18%, and 5.41%, respectively.

With the continuous development of digital image processing technology, edge detection technology is playing an increasingly important role in the field of image processing. The canny algorithm is a classical gradient-based edge detection algorithm with excellent performance and robustness. However, due to its large computational amount and poor real-time performance, the traditional software implementation method has been unable to meet the demands of modern high-speed image processing. Therefore, the canny algorithm hardware is turned into a popular research direction. As a programmable logic device, FPGA has the advantages of high flexibility, short development period and strong parallel computing power, which is widely used in the field of digital signal processing. At present, there has been a lot of research work on FPGA in implementing the canny algorithm, but most of the schemes have some problems, such as slow speed and high resource occupancy rate. Therefore, this paper presents an improved scheme for the hardware design of canny algorithm based on FPGA, aiming to improve the speed and efficiency of image processing while reducing the utilization of hardware resources.

To solve the problems of poor denoising effect and limited threshold accuracy in traditional canny algorithm, an improved canny algorithm is proposed in this paper. Firstly, an image preprocessing method based on hybrid filtering is developed. On the basis of Gaussian filtering, the adaptive median filtering is adopted to denoise the image, and homomorphic filtering is used to enhance the high frequency information of image in the frequency domain. Besides, Sobel operator is used instead of Roberts operator to calculate the gradient amplitude and direction of the image. Finally, an iterative threshold selection method combining MEM and Otsu is proposed. After obtaining the high and low thresholds by MEM and Otsu respectively, the optimal threshold is calculated using iterative algorithm, which can improve the accuracy and adaptability of threshold. It is proved that the proposed algorithm can preserve the image details while ensuring the denoising effect, and the detected edges have better connectivity and smoothness.
