Among the multiple factors influencing the accuracy of Computed Tomography measurements, the surface extraction process is a significant contributor. The location of the surface for metrological applications is generally based on the definition of a gray value as a characteristic of similarity to define the regions of interest. A different approach is to perform the detection or location of the surface based on the discontinuity or gradient. In this paper, an adapted 3D Deriche algorithm based on gradient information is presented and compared with a previously developed adapted canny algorithm for different surface types. Both algorithms have been applied to nine calibrated workpieces with different geometries and materials. Both the systematic error and measurement uncertainty have been determined. The results show a significant reduction of the deviations obtained with the Deriche- based algorithm in the dimensions defined by flat surfaces.

According to the characteristics of over-segmentation or under-segmentation based on the current adaptive canny algorithm and the infrared image of oil-sleeve oil level, this paper proposes a new adaptive detection method. Firstly, manual selection and median filtering are used to realize the pre-processing operations such as selection and filtering of the target area; Then, Otsu's method, local adaptive threshold segmentation algorithm, morphological corrosion, etc. are used to find the complete independent maximum area in the oil drum, that is, the range in which the threshold may exist; Finally, the sobel operator is used to find the maximum value of the image gradient in the range where the threshold may exist, and then it is used as the canny threshold to realize the automatic detection of the oil level of the oil pillow. Experiments show that the proposed method can automatically detect oil level and has good robustness.

Stereo correspondence is one of the most promising research areas in stereo vision. In order to solve the problem that there are large areas of similar gray-scale region and the time-consuming of the dense reconstruction, the contour of stereo pairs was extracted to reconstruct the scene. To reduce the noise which may lead to incorrect results during the stereo matching, a stereo matching algorithm based on the dynamic programming is proposed in the paper. Based on the reasonable and commonly assumption that the disparity of the scene is always smooth, the stereo matching algorithm puts a restraint on the disparity map and applies the dynamic algorithm on the disparity space image (DST) to obtain the optimal disparity of the contour. Since the sum of points needed to be computed is greatly reduced, the algorithm could implement the stereo correspondence with high speed and matching rate than dense reconstruction could.

In non-contract anthropometric measurements, the accurate location of body feature points is the basis of body dimension data. The traditional corner based feature point location method may involve errors due to the body shape variations. In this paper, we propose a novel body feature points location method. First, the human body contour is extracted with Otsu algorithm and canny edge detection algorithm. Then, human height is obtained by horizontal scanning algorithm. Furthermore, we propose the shoulder location algorithm based on shoulder slope and curvature to locate the shoulder points. Finally, the rest body feature points are determined with three factors: the proportional relationship between body parts and height, corners and symmetry of human body contour. The experimental results show that the proposed method can accurately locate the body feature points and solve the issue of the loss of feature points of human waist and chest.

It has great significance for assessing the safety of engineering structures or the bridge by detecting Deformation of steel pipe column. The manual contact measurement is one of the traditional methods to detect the deformation of the steel pipe column. However, in the actual operation environment, the manual contact measurement is difficult and there are some hidden safety problems in the measurement process, thus it is particularly important to study a non-contact measurement method of the steel pipe column. Image processing is one of the common methods of non-contact measurement. In this paper, with the same steel pipe deformation image, respectively, using different edge detection algorithm, comparative analysis of the result, it come to a conclusion that the most suitable algorithm is canny algorithm, and it is a classic algorithm of edge detection which has been applied in image processing. However, the traditional canny algorithm has some defects, such as difficulty in threshold setting, low efficiency. Based on traditional canny algorithm to improve it, this paper proposes an improved custom threshold canny algorithm. The results show that the method proposed in this paper, the method of which is more than the traditional detection method to save at least 0.8s. Basically meet the requirements of real-time detection of stable and reliable, fast, high accuracy, and has a certain practicality.

In order to extract complete leaf image contours of cowpea diseases under natural environment, cowpea disease leaf image segmentation method combining squirrel search algorithm and Kmeans clustering algorithm was proposed. Firstly, the images were converted from RGB color space to HSV color space; then the squirrel search algorithm was used to obtain the initial cluster centers to improve the Kmeans algorithm for image segmentation; morphological operations were used to smooth the images; finally, after removing small area noise, the canny algorithm was used to extract the complete cowpea diseased leaf outline. The experimental results show that the cowpea diseased leaf images segmented by the algorithm used in this paper have smooth edges and can effectively segment cowpea leaves, which provides a basis for the application of computer vision in cowpea disease identification.
