The localization of Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) has been recognized as one of the most challenging problems to overcome. Thus, much work has been given to solving this difficult problem. In emergency services, navigational systems, civil/military surveillance etc., locating the signal source in a WSN is essential. A novel approach for sensor node localization using range-based localization methodology has been proposed to overcome this issue. The problem is expressed in the form of a maximum probability distribution function. The use of an RSSI-based Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) measurement model, along with the chan algorithm, is used to find the coordinates of unknown nodes has been proposed. With the help of ultra-wideband, this research aims to develop new and precise localization algorithms for wireless sensor networks (WSNs). This work offers localization using two-hybrid localization algorithms, i.e., ELPSO (Ensemble learning particle swarm optimization) and PSO- BPNN (Back-propagation neural network optimized by particle swarm optimization). Further, the error optimization accuracy has been compared between those algorithms using simulations. The proposed techniques consistently offer a better localization accuracy than the conventional algorithms available in the literature. The new localization methods with optimal techniques reduce the error value to a minimal distance. The distance value of localization error is nearly2.7cms compared to other designs from the literature. It is noted as significantly less.

A residual weighted chan algorithm is proposed to solve the problem that GPS can not be used for indoor precise positioning. In this paper, the TDOA-base chan algorithm is derived, and the coordinate position of the measurement point is obtained. Then, the target position is accurately calculated by the residual weight, and the positioning service is provided for the user. The results of laboratory experiments show that the accuracy of the algorithm meets the basic requirements of indoor positioning and improves the error of three-dimensional positioning height.

chan algorithm is a closed form solution to the non-recursive equation set. This algorithm needs only a small amount of calculations but has a high degree of precision on positioning. It is valuable for academic reference. Firstly, it obtains the preliminary solution by using WLS (Weighted Least Squares) twice. Then, it uses the preliminary solution to linearise the nonlinear equation and finally makes the estimation of the position. The channel model can provide the model of indoor office environment ranging from 2 GHz to 10 GHz. Through the UWB (Ultra Wide Band) positioning system of the channel model, the LOS(line-of-sight) environment can be simulated and TOA(Time-Of-Arrival) data measured by distance can also be obtained by sampling. However, small LOS errors included in the TOA data may lead to big ones in the positioning of 3D(three-dimensional) space and the precision of positioning may be undermined, when the data are directly applied to the chan algorithm which is based on the TOA. In order to solve this issue, the TOA data obtained can be processed with MA(Moving Average) algorithm and the precision can be improved.

With the advancement of underwater Internet of Things (IoT) technology, Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks (UWSN) have gradually become a forward-looking technology for marine resource exploration. Faced with the highly dynamic characteristics of UWSN links, it is important to design a reliable and energy-balanced routing scheme. To this end, this paper proposes an Opportunistic Routing protocol based on Link Quality (ORLQ) to address these issues. The chan algorithm is used to establish distance relationships among nodes in UWSN, thereby obtaining the coordinates of ordinary nodes. Based on this, the Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) of received data packets is a key factor affecting link quality. The Shannon theorem is used to evaluate the data packet throughput of the link and is used as an influencing factor for the next hop node, designing a link quality metric. Simulation results show that ORLQ outperforms existing routing protocols in terms of network throughput and energy efficiency.

Aiming at the problem that the initial value of Taylor algorithm may cause large error in localization result when solving the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) swarms time-difference-of-arrival(TDOA) passive localization equation, a hybrid algorithm based on chan-Taylor is proposed. The hybrid algorithm proposed in this paper is based on chan algorithm, and then the location result is used as the initial value of Taylor algorithm iteration, and stop iteration until the error is lower than the threshold, and finally output the localization result. Simulation results show that the localization accuracy, convergence speed and adaptability of the chan-Taylor hybrid algorithm are better than the original chan algorithm.

Partial discharge localisation methodology for power transformers based on improved acoustic propagation route search algorithm

The localisation of partial discharge (PD) sources using the acoustic emission (AE) technique has attracted increasing research attention. The complicated propagation routes and wave-type conversion in power transformer can induce considerable localisation error. In this paper, the catadioptric phenomenon of AE wave propagation is explained in detail. With the incident angle varying, the wave type of the direct wave in tank wall could convert and the velocity will change accordingly. A transformer model is established in which each node refers to a suspected PD position and a shortest route search algorithm is proposed to calculate the shortest path between two nodes in this model. However, the fastest route is most significant to PD localisation rather than the shortest route when TDOA method is used. As a result, an improved propagation route search (IPRS) algorithm, which can recreate the propagation process and calculate the fastest AE routes, is proposed to localise the PD origin. To verify the feasibility of the IPRS algorithm, localisation experiments were performed in 35 and 110 kV transformers, respectively. Compared with other present localisation methods, such as the chan algorithm, the genetic algorithm and the imperial competitive algorithm, the proposed algorithm can effectively reduce localisation error.

Based on secondary scatterer model, realize the location algorithm of the target by virtue of scatterer information. Firstly, use extended Kalman filtering method of resultant motion to effectively suppress the influence of quadratic item on error multiplicative amplification during the location process by circle fitting method, so as to make the estimated location of the second layer of scatterers and the distance between those scatterers and the target more accurate Secondly, serve the second layer of scatterers as virtual observation station, and use chan algorithm to calculate the position of the first layer of scatterers. Finally, use the position of the first layer of scatterers and signal launching angle to locate the target. The simulation results verify the feasibility and effectiveness of this algorithm.

The indoor positioning technology for confined spaces operation is widely used in the field of petroleum and petrochemical safety. Aiming at the problems of complex positioning systems and significant measurement error, a set of high-precision confined spaces follower positioning systems based on Ultra-wideband technology is designed to set up four fixed base stations and follower target sub-stations within the confined spaces, and the four-point localisation method of three-dimensional space is applied to improve the chan algorithm and carry out the simulation and analysis, to determine the accuracy of the algorithm. The man-machine interface software is prepared, the improved chan algorithm is used for a fast solution, the indoor positioning test is completed, and the three-dimensional positioning data of the follower substations are obtained. The accuracy of the positioning error is within 250mm, which can satisfy the design requirements. The scheme and algorithms of the system can provide references for the research on positioning in confined spaces.

Three-dimensional indoor positioning is a hot topic in communication network. chan algorithm is widely used in two-dimensional domain, and gives original to an extended algorithm for three-dimensional positioning. However, the accuracy of the extended algorithm drops significantly when it's under non line of sight (NLOS) propagation. In this paper, we present a new algorithm based on the original chan algorithm, improved 3-dimensional chan algorithm, which introduces an attenuation factor to smooth the impact of NLOS error and a global computing-local correction algorithm to position Z axis coordinate. As the experimental results show, our algorithm exhibits superior accuracy-the root mean square error (RMSE) is reduced by about 93.12% compared to the present three-dimensional chan algorithms.
