This paper has considered the problem of distributed diagnosis in dynamic fault environments for not-completely connected network topologies under crash and value fault assumptions. Heartbeat based mechanisms are used to detect the failure and recovery event at a particular node. A diagnosis algorithm has been simulated and the results are presented. The result shows that failure and recovery events both take a constant time, i.e., O(1) round and has been compared with algorithm FHB. The algorithm is shown to produce significantly shorter latency and state holding time than prior algorithms, which focused primarily on minimizing the number of tests at the expense of latency

Signature detection modules in IDS/IPS though accurate in pattern matching, yet it leads to false positives. This is due to the incompleteness of the signatures which lacks or has very little information about when, where and how to match these signatures. The signatures enriched with this information significantly brings down the false positives and at the same time enhances the performance of the signature detection module. In this paper we propose a state base signature detection model which leverages on our state aware signatures with sufficiently complete information to match these signatures. The proposed model keeps track of the state of the connection and matches the signatures within appropriate packets. We further classify our signatures that span across multiple packet and across multiple sessions. We also provide the notion of virtual signatures which represents patterns within packets in a distributed form. In this paper we demonstrate the capabilities of our proposed model to detect these virtual patterns, multi-packet and multi-session leveraging on our state aware signatures.

Clinical records of intraoperative ischemic EEG are used to optimize an automatic detecting algorithm which is capable of signaling the onset of the insult accurately at a small delay. The algorithm derives autoregressive (AR) coefficients on all channels, and searches for simultaneous changes, which has earlier been found to be characteristic of the ischemic change. A set of 32 clinical recordings were used to determine optimal parameter thresholds. An intraoperative clinical monitor based on the present method may be of great help in reducing intervention related risk during carotid and cardiac operations.

Imaging radar offers potential for regular monitoring of changes in this region. In particular, the JERS-1 satellite carries an L-band HH SAR system which, via an on-board type recorder, can collect data from almost anywhere on the globe, at any time of year. The authors show how JERS-1 radar images can be used to accurately classify different forest types (i.e. flood plain vs. upland forest) and river courses in the Amazon basin. JERS-1 data has also shown significant differences between data obtained during the dry season and the wet season, indicating a strong potential for monitoring seasonal change. The algorithms used to classify JERS-1 data is a standard maximum-likelihood classifier, using the radar image local mean and standard deviation of texture as input. Rivers are detected using an edge detection and edge-following algorithm. This work was performed by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology, under contract from NASA.< >

This tutorial presents a state-of-the-art survey of advanced applications of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR). Applications include: the detection and recognition of targets in SAR imagery, and the detection of targets under trees (and in the open) using change detection (coherent change detection, full-polarization change detection, etc). A fully polarimetric SAR sensor is described. Models of clutter and targets are developed from analysis of full-polarization SAR imagery. algorithms for optimum (GLRT) processing of full-polarization data are derived, including the polarimetric whitening filter (PWF) and the polarimetric matched filter (PMF). Polarization-based discrimination features (polarization entropy, anisotropy, etc.) are developed and applied to SAR image terrain classification. Model-based and template-based target recognition systems are described and classifier performance results versus resolution and polarization are summarized for 10-and 20-target classifiers. Super-resolution algorithms are applied to SAR imagery and target recognition performance improvements demonstrated. Multi-polarization and multi-pass change detection algorithms are developed and demonstrated using UHF SAR imagery of targets under trees; fusion of multi-polarization coherent and non-coherent change detection algorithms is demonstrated. The effect of SAR image compression on change detection performance is quantified. change detection performance using multi-pass VHF SAR imagery of targets under trees is demonstrated using data gathered by the Swedish CARABAS SAR system.

Presents a novel approach to the tracking of multiple articulate objects in the presence of occlusion in moderately complex scenes. Most conventional tracking algorithms work well when only one object is tracked at a time. However, when multiple objects must be tracked simultaneously, significant computation is often introduced in order to handle occlusion and to calculate the appropriate region correspondence between successive frames. We introduce a near-real-time solution to this problem by using a probabilistic mixing of low-level features and components. The algorithm mixes coarse motion estimates, change detection information and unobservable predictions to create accurate trajectories of moving objects. We implement this multifeature mixing strategy within the context of a video surveillance system using a modified Kalman filtering mechanism. Experimental results demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed tracking and surveillance system.

In this paper, we propose an adaptive learning technique for "sensor-planning", that is how to control PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) camera sensor for human finding without prior environment information. Our idea is based on Q-learning with positive and negative rewards as optical-flow result and camera motion respectively. Additionally, an adaptive learning rate mechanism enables us to change the control sequence quickly to adapt situation change. This planning method has advantages of real-time processing, online learning and quick adaptation. We show a simulation experiment in pseudo room environment to compare our method with traditional methods. Our algorithm can detect moving object 21 percent faster than probabilistic method

In order to improve the efficiency of video information storage of the video surveillance system, this paper proposes a mechanism based on buffer and anomaly detection algorithm for video storage. The algorithm uses anomaly detection mechanism, only stored anomaly video, and uses buffer mechanism to completely store exception video information. Compared with the current algorithm, while maintaining the integrity of the video information it can effectively save the video storage space and improve video surveillance system of video storage efficiency.

Inter-thread dataflows are of great importance in analyzing concurrent programs. Suffering from the complexity of currency, it is still difficult to identify them from Java programs precisely and efficiently. A fundamental problem in inter-thread dataflow analysis is pointer analysis. Currently, pointer analyses can be classified into context-sensitive ones and context-insensitive ones. They are either too time consuming or too imprecise and hence not suitable for scalable and high precision inter-thread dataflow analysis. To change the situation, this paper proposes a thread-sensitive pointer analysis algorithm which only uses sequences of thread starts as calling contexts. As in inter-thread dataflow analysis, the major objective is analyzing interthread dataflows not intra-thread ones, the coarse-grained context-sensitivity can not only effectively speed up the analysis, but also preserve the analyze precision as much as possible

AntNet-FA showed high potential for best-effort routing through some experiments. However this algorithm was pointed out that it can't adapt to a situation of traffic change such as congestion. Loop-free constraint is effective for sparse networks, but the constraint has a side effect for scale-free networks. In this paper, we propose an AntNet-based algorithm, AntNet-CHTT (clearing history of trip time). A key point of the algorithm is to determine the case that congestion occurs but it isn't balanced. And then this congestion is considered not to be transient, the node launches forward ants with loop-free constraint to search other routes for a destination while the congestion continues. Furthermore, the algorithm clears the history of trip time to urge the discovery of other routes, so the algorithm can use network resource effectively. We tested the algorithms on three networks. One of these networks was a sparse network like ring topology and two networks of these networks were a scale-free network.
