We propose a novel channel coding scheme for 1 bit digital radio frequency (DRF) transmitter comprising a 1-bit band-pass delta-sigma modulator (BP-DSM). This 1-bit DRE transmitter outputs radio signals generated only by a digital circuit instead of an analog circuit. In addition, the 1-bit DRF transmitter can handle arbitrary modulated waveform as the 1 bit digital pulse train, thereby making it easy to transmit RE signal on a digital optical link whenever using DRF signal as the binary data. However, the optical link usually does not send data, having long run length, and has to use a channel coding such as 8B1013, 64B66B and Manchester coding, which needs additional data and causes DRF power spectrum change. To this end, we proposed a novel channel coding scheme able to control the run length without any additional data while converting the RE signal to a 1 bit digital train. We demonstrated that a new coding scheme shortens the run length from 38 bits to less than 7 bits even if the 1-bit DRE transmitter outputs an LTE signal with 5MHz bandwidth in the carrier frequency from 0.5 GHz to 2 GHz.

This paper describes and compares two different channel coding processing systems used in DVB-H and DT/B-SH-A standards of digital video broadcasting to handheld devices. DVB-SH satellite handheld system, as a hybrid of satellite and terrestrial transmission paths, offers two transmission modes Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing OFDM and Time Division Multiplexing TDM OFDM mode only is used in Complementary Ground Component CGC terrestrial path. Both OFDM and TDM modes can be used in SC Satellite Component. DVB-SH-A OFDM mode is considered only in the paper and is compared with DVB-H terrestrial system. Theoretical simulation results of C/N requirements are included.

We report on the performance of an optimized parallel channel coder for high-speed optical transmission systems. The coding properties are discussed by an evaluation of the signal statistics of the coded pulse train in the time and frequency domain. The discussion is mainly based on the results far the power spectral density (PSD) and the autocorrelation function (AKF). The theoretical investigations have been verified by measurements with a developed 2.488 Gbit/s optical transmission system. Reliability studies have shown a system's bit error rate below 10(-13).

This paper presents a high-level functional model for the 3GPP LTE-Advanced channel coding generic procedures. Due to the complexity of modern wireless communication systems, it is fundamental to have a well-defined high-level model to guide low-level implementations, like C/C++ or HDL. High-level modeling not only serves the purpose of proving the correctness of a given system, but also to present measures of its optimal performance, since we are not yet restricted by any technology. The LTE-Advanced channel coding is composed by five generic procedures: CRC calculation, code block segmentation and CRC attachment, channel coding, rate matching and code block concatenation. The aggregation of these procedures creates the great majority of the downlink and uplink transport channels. In this paper, we present a very simple way of modeling the channel coding, offering a reference for future LTE channel coding developments.

Distributed coding has been shown to be an efficient scheme to improve the performance of wireless relay networks. In this paper we propose an analog distributed channel coding (ADC) scheme. In the proposed scheme, the intermediate relays directly process the received analog noisy signals without making the hard estimation and performs analog channel encoding of the noisy soft estimates of the transmitted symbols, so that the processed signals forwarded by all relays can form an analog distributed convolutional codeword. Assuming the source packet is encoded by a channel code, the ADC scheme can form serial concatenated codes and iterative decoding can be applied at the destination. We compare our proposed scheme with other existing schemes under Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) and fast Rayleigh fading channel and validate the simulation results with the aid of Extrinsic Information Transfer (EXIT) chart analysis. Simulation results show that the proposed ADC scheme can effectively overcome the error propagation due to the erroneous decoding at the relay in the conventional decode-forward (DF) scheme and provide considerable coding gains, thus considerably outperforming the conventional soft information relaying protocols. The coding gains increase as the number of state in the relay encoder increases.

This paper extends the channel coding theorems of [1][2] to time-slotted random multiple access communication systems with a generalized problem formulation. Assume that users choose their channel codes arbitrarily in each time slot. When the codeword length can be taken to infinity, fundamental performance limitation of the system is characterized using an achievable region defined in the space of channel code index vector each specifies the channel codes of all users. The receiver decodes the message if the code index vector happens to locate inside the achievable region and reports a collision if it falls outside the region. A generalized system error performance measure is defined as the maximum of weighted probabilities of different types of communication error events. Upper bounds on the generalized error performance measure are derived under the assumption of a finite codeword length. It is shown that "interfering users" can be introduced to model not only the impact of interference from remote transmitters, but also the impact of channel uncertainty in random access communication.(1)

After the big revolution and the huge services and data offered by the 4G system, it seems that it never satisfied the explosion of data transmission, services, and people's demands. Consequently, 5G comes with new promises and aims to satisfy these needs, moreover trying to achieve the success of billions of connected objects at the same time with low latency, greater data-rate, and faster data transmission than the 4G. In addition to many great researches that attempted to enhance and help the 5G system to reach its expected objectives, the work in this article tries to enrich the 5G system and improve the Quality of Service (QoS), by paying particular attention to the channel coder structure, where we had studied two powerful codes, Turbo Code (TC), and a recent coder called "Unpunctured Turbo Trellis-coded Modulation" (UTTCM), and compare between them in term of Bit Error Rate (BER). The simulation results showed that the UTTCM coding has the most efficient and less complex channel coding in the 5G system.

This paper deals with the Matlab implementation of the DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcasting to Handhelds) channel coding in AWGN (Additive White Gaussian Noise) transmission channel. Developed application structure and its functions are described. channel encoder and decoder were implemented in Matlab as it is specified in the DVB-H standard Created application can evaluate and shows two types of BER (Bit Error Ratio) - BER before Viterbi decoding and BER after Viterbi decoding. The OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) modulation was not implemented yet. Finally, obtained results are evaluated and discussed.
