With the widespread utilization of mega-containerships, the economies of scale becomes more and more obviously. In order to get more benefits, a hub-and-spoke model for the container transportation network is provided here. Then the chaos optimization algorithm (COA) is applied to solve the complicated network optimization problem. chaos has many good properties in nonlinear systems, such as ergodicity, stochastic properties and regularity. It is a chaotic motion which can go non-repeatedly through every state in a certain domain. Based on these properties, the effective optimization method is proposed in this paper to solve this complex optimization problem. The simulation results indicate that the COA can achieve a reasonable optimum transportation network mostly the sea route, vessel volume and service frequency of the vessel, in the meantime, we provide a reference model for containers transportation network layout.

Image segmentation is a fundamental step in image processing. Otsu's threshold method is a widely used method for image segmentation. In this paper, a novel image segmentation rnethod based on chaos immune clone selection algorithm (CICSA) and Otus's threshold method is presented. By introducing the chaos optimization algorithm into the parallel and distributed search mechanism of immune clone selection algorithm, CICSA takes advantage of global and local search ability. The experimental results demonstrate that the performance of CICSA on application of image segmentation has the characteristic of stability and efficiency.

In this article, some improving methods are put forward for the converging velocity of the COA (chaos optimization algorithm) based on carrying wave two times, which can greatly increase the velocity and efficiency of the first time to carry wave to search for the optimal point, implementing the sophisticated searching during secondly carrying wave more quickly as well as accurately. A class of effective and general hybrid optimization strategy is proposed which reasonably combines the parallel structure of genetic algorithm with the high searching chaos, which can solve the invalidation problem of genetic falling into a local optimization. Using this method, an optimized controller for beam-balanced system is designed. In this paper, a novel hybrid optimizationalgorithm, which combines a chaps optimizationalgorithm (COA) and a linear interior point method, is proposed for solving the optimal power flow (OPF) problem. The hybrid algorithm is structured with two stages. The first stage uses the chaos optimization algorithm, while the linear primal-dual interior point method with the predictor-corrector is employed in the second stage. The hybrid algorithm involves two level of optimization, namely global search by the COA and local search by the linear interior point method, which cooperates in a global process of optimization. It can provide more robust convergence on the OPF problem than either algorithm alone. IEEE 14, 30 and 57 bus test systems are run. Numerical results illustrate the feasibility and potential of the proposed hybrid algorithm.
