cheque truncation system (CTS) is an image based cheque clearing system. It enables faster clearing of cheques. Indian banks have implemented this technology in selected areas of the country. Meanwhile, several fraud cases have already occurred by taking advantage of inadequate security mechanisms of this system. One of several mechanisms of committing frauds is to alter the digital image of the cheque. This paper proposes a method to tackle this type of fraud. It is based on inserting a watermark signal in the image of the cheque. But unlike traditional watermarking, this method is not interested in extracting the watermark at the receiver side. Rather it counts number of mismatching pixels in between the cover image and the watermarked image to detect occurrence of fraud. It also can identify which portions of the cheque image have been altered.

cheque truncation system (CTS) is an image based cheque clearing system to speed up the process of clearing the cheques. Financial frauds are being carried out by tampering the content of the cheque image. Therefore, there is a need of detecting this kind of tampering of images. This paper proposes a method to detect whether a cheque image has been tampered or not. A difference expansion based watermarking technique is applied for this purpose. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method successfully distinguishes between genuine and tampered cheque images.

cheque truncation system (CTS) is a technique of preventing tangible movement of cheque by substituting it with a digital image, with an aim for secure and faster clearance. For the first time re-watermarking is applied for authenticating transactions in CTS. Methodology for the proposed approach splits the host image (I-h) into two layers (L). In L-1 cheque details are fused with two image color channels to form a composite message (C-m). Secure hash algorithm (SHA-512) is applied to C-m to generate a unique message digest (M-d). Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) is applied to M-d to create a digital signature. The signature is embedded by exploiting Human Visual system (HVS) color channel sensitivity in equally parted mode. In L-2, joint secret is established to form key using Elliptic Curve Diffie Hellman Protocol (ECDHP). Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) is applied to user details intricate in the transaction. Encrypted contents are then inserted in L-2 by applying Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT). Experimental results state solution to integrity concerns by using ECDSA with SHA-512, reaction to security issues by AES and the response to key distribution problem by ECDHP. An effective semi-blind CTS is perceived with PSNR between 59-60 dB.

Automated bank cheque verification using image processing is an attempt to complement the present cheque truncation system, as well as to provide an alternate methodology for the processing of bank cheques with minimal human intervention. When it comes to the clearance of the bank cheques and monetary transactions, this should not only be reliable and robust but also save time which is one of the major factor for the countries having large population. In order to perform the task of cheque verification, we developed a tool which acquires the cheque leaflet key components, essential for the task of cheque clearance using image processing and deep learning methods. These components include the bank branch code, cheque number, legal as well as courtesy amount, account number, and signature patterns. our innovation aims at benefiting the banking system by re-innovating the other competent cheque-based monetary transaction system which requires automated system intervention. For this research, we used institute of development and research in banking technology (IDRBT) cheque dataset and deep learning based convolutional neural networks (CNN) which gave us an accuracy of 99.14% for handwritten numeric character recognition. It resulted in improved accuracy and precise assessment of the handwritten components of bank cheque. For machine printed script, we used MATLAB in-built OCR method and the accuracy achieved is satisfactory (97.7%) also for verification of Signature we have used Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT) for extraction of features and Support Vector Machine (SVM) as classifier, the accuracy achieved for signature verification is 98.10%.

Recently, all bank system has online money transfer facility. It may be either by online transactions or by NEFT cheques. Bank system pays money through cash, demand draft, and online money transfer or by cheques. Few days ago, there was a flow of the physical cheques issued by bank customer from drawer to the drawee branch. This process consumes more time and increase physical work of the employee. To overcome this problem cheque truncation system (CTS) comes into picture. This system provides faster clearing and transmission of bank cheques issued by bank customer from drawer branch account to the drawee branch account. CTS transfers the cheque in image format. Due to this reason, there is a need of copyright protection to the cheque image. It can be provided by digital watermarking techniques. The digital watermarking techniques can be applied using various methods. Such as, frequency domain, spatial domain, computational intelligence technique, etc. In this paper, it is going to discuss, "A cheque Watermarking system Using Singular Value Decomposition for Copyright Protection of cheque Images". The aim of this paper is to obtain secure cheque image & watermark after extraction process of watermark at drawee branch.
