Performance criteria of three-phase PFC converters improve significantly with increasing the switching frequency, and highly depend on the control strategy used This paper introduces a novel sensorless 60degrees-clamping vector classification PWM technique for three-phase PFC converters. The proposed scheme needs no current sensor and extra calculation for identification the highest current carrying phase that must not be switched. In addition, classification algorithm offers exact positioning of the switching instants. with less computational efforts and therefore shorter sampling period and higher switching frequency are possible, when compared with conventional SVM algorithms. In addition, to reduce the switching and conduction losses a novel switching pattern is presented in this paper. Simulation results on PSCAD/EMTDC software program, confirm the validity of the analytical work.

Successful proof-of-concept laboratory experiments on cortically-controlled brain computer interface motivate continued development for neural prosthetic microsystems (NPMs). One of the research directions is to realize realtime spike sorting processors (SSPs) on the NPM. The SSP detects the spikes, extracts the features, and then performs the classification algorithm in realtime in order to differentiate the spikes for the different firing neurons. Several architectures have been designed for the spike detection and feature extraction. However, the classification hardware is missing. To complete the SSP, a density-based hardware-oriented classification algorithm is proposed for hardware implementation. The traditional classification algorithms require a considerable memory space to store all the training features during the processing iteration, which results in a considerable power and area for the hardware. The proposed one is designed based on the density map of the spike features. The density map can be accumulated on-line with the coming of the spike features. Therefore the algorithm can save significant memory space, and is good for efficient hardware implementation.

Many species of birds in Americas vocalize during nocturnal migration flights. Acoustic detection and classification of the calls show potential for study of the natural history of these migrant birds. In particular, information about the species' composition and number of birds involved in migration movements may be obtainable through acoustic techniques. Other methods such as radar monitoring may have capability only to assess the number, but not the composition. Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients-Gaussian Mixture Model-based methods (MFCC-GMM), Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients-Hidden Markov Model-based methods (MFCC-HMM) and spectrogram correlation-based methods have been proposed to automate the recognition/classification of the nocturnal flight calls. Here we investigate the choice of Pseudo Wigner-Ville Transform (PWVT) on MFCC-HMM-based classifier and correlation-based classifier performance. We use a collection of recordings of nocturnal flight calls of several species of thrushes and other bird species with similar calls to evaluate and compare classifiers.

The objective of this study is to develop high accuracy land cover classification algorithm for Global scale by using multi-temporal MODIS land reflectance products. In this study, time-domain co-occurrence matrix was introduced as a classification feature which provides time-series signature of land covers. Further, the non-parametric minimum distance classifier was introduced for time domain co-occurrence matrix, which performs multi-dimensional pattern matching for time-domain co-occurrence matrices of a classification target pixel and each classification classes. The global land cover classification experiments have been conducted by applying the proposed classification method using 46 multi-temporal(in one year) SR(Surface Reflectance) and NBAR(Nadir BRDF-Adjusted Reflectance) products, respectively. IGBP 17 land cover categories were used in our classification experiments. As the results, SR and NEAR products showed similar classification accuracy of 99%.

Detection of marine mammals within an influence zone of episodal anthropogenic noise source is critical to insure the safety of the animals. Marine mammal clicks are closely modeled by AM/FM signals. The Teager-Kaiser energy operator followed by a threshold detector provides an effective means of detecting AM/FM signals. classification of the species generating the click is done by finding the maximum cross-covariance between the power spectral density (PSD) of the received click and the PSDs of clicks which have been identified. The classification algorithm will create a new library entry when the cross-covariance is below a predefined threshold. Five species of marine mammals were classified using data from the 3rd International Workshop on Detection, classification and Localization of Marine Mammals (DCL). This paper presented a computationally-inexpensive marine mammal detection and classification algorithm with high probabilities of detection and correct classification.

A Papanicolaou Smear (PAP) test is a screening method developed for cervical cancer that involves the microscopic examination of cervical cells carefully extracted and spread out as a smear and stained specially. A Pap test reveals premalignant and malignant changes and the changes that are due to non-carcinogenic conditions like inflammation. The diagnosis of this test are based upon key features of the nucleus and cytoplasm of the affected cell or the cell under observation. This work is aimed at devising a classification algorithm using supervised methods to efficiently classify the affected cells from normal cells and further group the affected cells Logistic Regression. ([9]) All algorithms and models were trained and validated using the Azure Machine Learning Studio.

A framework about spectral based vegetation classification was proposed, which serves as a core methodology of the vegetation spectral knowledge base. The hyperspectral reflectances of 13 types of plants were measured by an ASD FieldSpec 4 spectroradiometer. Two forms of spectral features were used for representing the key spectral characteristics of plants, including Vegetation index (VI) and spectral shape features. Based on these spectral features, a sensitivity analysis was performed to identify the most important features for establishing the classifier. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) and the cross-correlation analysis were applied to derive the sensitivity of features and remove features that have high correlations. Then, a classification method for differentiating plants was established by coupling some spectral similarity measures (e.g., ED) with some classification methods (e.g., BPANN and SVM). The results of discrimination analysis showed that a highest accuracy was produced by SVM with the OAA over 99% when using 7 sensitive VIs. The results suggested the framework about spectral based vegetation classification can form a basis for spectral knowledge base and application technology and further achieve a wide range of plant classification based on remote sensing.

In hyperspectral image classification, each hyperspectral pixel can be represented by linear combination of a few training samples in the training dictionary. Assuming the training dictionary is available, the hyperspectral pixel can be recovered using a minimal training samples by solving a sparse representation problem, then the weighted coefficients of training samples are obtained and the class of the pixel can be determined, the above process is called classification algorithm based on sparse representation. However, the traditional sparse classification algorithms have not fully utilized the spatial information and classification accuracy is relatively low. In this paper, in order to improve classification accuracy, a new sparse classification algorithm based on First-Order Neighborhood System Weighted (FONSW) constraint is proposed. Compared with other sparse classification algorithms, the experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has a smoother classification map and higher classification accuracy.

exponential growth of the use of connected objects, in particular of smartphones, is the consequence of the digitization of services. All types of applications, from the least critical to the most critical are available on mobile devices through mobile applications. The daily penetration of mobile applications in widely used devices brings certain threats. We find in the software repositories malwares and good application at the same time, which is a major cybersecurity problem. To resolve this problem, machine learning approaches have been proposed in the literature for the detection of malware in general and Android malicious applications in particular. Obfuscation techniques are used by developers to hide malicious applications that implies the need to update Android malware detection models. But many approaches in the literature are more focus on data than features. Hence our contribution is an incremental learning approach capable of detecting Android malware. We propose through UFILA approach an updating of features for the detection and classification of android malware by adding new features. We evaluated 13 classification algorithms and chose four most efficient algorithms to implement our approach. The results obtained by our approach surpass several malware detection approaches in the literature. The values of the metrics obtained respectively by the Accuracy, the precision, the recall and an F1-Score are 99%, 99%,98.6 %98%.

In this paper, we consider an issue of hand posture classification. We improve a recently proposed signature, a matrix containing the distance of all contour pixels to an arbitrary reference point. Adequate pre-processings ensure the invariance properties of the signature. Candidate postures are pre-selected with a surface criterion, and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) reduces the dimensionality of the data, which improves the classification process.
