Object-oriented design for LHD data acquisition using client-server model

The LHD data acquisition system handles > 600 MB data per shot. The fully distributed data processing and the object-oriented system design are the main principles of this system, its wide flexibility has been realized by introducing the object-oriented method into the data processing, in which the object sharing and class libraries will provide the unified way of data handling for the network client-server programming. The object class libraries are described in C++, and the network object sharing is provided through the commercial soft-ware named HARNESS. As for the CAMAC setup, the Java script can use the C++ class libraries and thus establishes the relationship between the object-oriented database and the WWW server. In LHD experiments, the CAMAC system and the Windows NT operating system are applied for digitizing and acquiring data. respectively. For the purpose of the LHD data acquisition. the new CAMAC handling software on Windows NT have been developed to manipulate the SCSI-connected crate controllers. The CAMAC command lists and diagnostic data classes are shared between client and server computers. A lump of the diagnostic data can be treated as part of an object by the object-oriented programming. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.

The paper presents a distributed computing approach for concurrent finite element analysis of truss structures. The client-server model of distributed computation is applied to the plane frame finite element algorithm and implemented on SUN workstations. The remote procedure call combined with the ability to create threads of computation allows one to efficiently implement distributed and concurrent programs. The present approach is demonstrated through a typical truss structure to illustrate the details of the implementation. This approach can be used for very large finite element systems.

The World Wide Web (WWW) has experienced tremendous growth over the past few years. This increase in use makes server load heavier and leads to more system-bounded queries due to newly sought emerging web techniques, such as information discovery and reuse, mining and fusion. There is an obvious interest in assessing the consequences of this growth and understanding the system's behavior under varying conditions and workloads. The overall performance of the WWW is affected by various criteria in terms of clients, servers, and the network. Measuring performance of a computer system is a complex, difficult and important task. Time and rates are usually the basic measures of system performance. Having more realistic data about system performance will be necessary in the design and development of integrated information systems and systems for reuse, The main objective of this work is to measure the performance of various web-based computer systems and web servers using the SPEC Web99 benchmarking toolset. In the experiments that we carried out, the server is set up using freely available Apache server software run on a Sun Sparc-Ultra 80 machine, and six Windows-based clients that are used to load the server using the benchmark suite. First, the effects of varying resources, such as memory sizes and processors, on server's performance are measured and analyzed. Then, we tested and evaluated the effects of six different clients and workload parameters on the server configuration. Amongst the six experiments that were performed, two were to set up in order to test the server-side setup while the remaining four were setup to test the clients-side. Some of the parameters varied were memory sizes, number of processors, the workload, and the benchmark parameters. Some interesting results were obtained while others were as expected The results indicate that good improvements can be achieved if workload and system resources are carefully chosen to optimize metrics of interest.

CMSNS: a communication middleware for social networking and networked multimedia systems

In this paper, we propose a communication middleware for social networking services (CMSNS) in order to reduce the development effort and to support high accessibility to remote social content such as text, image, and video. The main role of CMSNS is to provide a developer with simple application programming interfaces (APIs) and configuration options related to communication among users. With CMSNS, a developer can easily build communication-related functions which are commonly required in SNS and networked multimedia systems such as the management of communication architecture, user registration and authentication, and synchronous / asynchronous sharing of content among users. In addition to the simple development model, CMSNS enables a server to dynamically adjust the amount of SNS content to be downloaded at a client according to current network conditions. With this scheme, a user can access as much content as possible within an acceptable delay, which enhances the accessibility to remote content.

An efficient comparison of two indexing-based deep learning models for the formation of a web-application based IoT-cloud network

To search a particular image file amongst a large and massive encrypted database is very time consuming and hectic task. Many encryption and searching techniques have been used but they did not prove effective to support smart devices in order to provide input image and retrieve the required results on the personal gadgets of the user. Therefore, based on these facts, an intelligent and advanced multimodal system has been developed in this paper which is based on encrypted content-based search. Thus, in order to perform content-based search two type of novel deep learning techniques, namely cluster-based deep belief network and supervised similarity-based convolutional neural network have been used. The proposed models have been influenced by special indexing techniques to retrieve the best relevant and similar images in very less time. In order to secure the entire images of the database, confusion-diffusion technique based on chaotic map encryption has been used. In order to develop the internet of things model and to support smart device users, a web based application has also been developed using Apache Tomcat server and linking between java and MATLAB has been done using MATLAB engine. Analysis of many parameters like precision, recall, f-score, entropy, correlation coefficient and time has been done here. Also, the proposed system has been compared to many latest and related techniques by using two benchmark and renowned datasets namely WANG and COIL-100.

A GRAPHICAL USER INTERFACE server FOR UNIX

The UNIX operating system has attained widespread popularity because of its power, flexibility and elegance. However, the common user interfaces (shells) have been criticized as being cryptic and difficult to use, especially for novices. In this paper, we present a user interface server that can be used to provide a graphical shell for UNIX. This shell helps to overcome a number of difficulties faced by both novices and experts. Although it is largely intended to assist novices, it is also designed not to become a hindrance for expert users and does not sacrifice the basic power and flexibility of UNIX. The server is designed to augment rather than replace text-based interfaces and can be used from a variety of different interactive programs in addition to shells.

C2CFTP: Direct and Indirect File Transfer Protocols Between clients in client-server Architecture

In this paper, we propose an efficient direct and indirect file transfer protocol (C2CFTP) that transfers files between clients in a client-server system. Existing file transfer methods use an indirect transfer method through a server to transfer files between sending and receiving clients or a direct transfer method that connects a direct data channel between clients. However, in the case of indirect transmission, unnecessary file input/output (I/O) is required by the server, and in the case of direct transmission, a problem arises in that the file transmission delay time is increased due to channel management cost. The proposed C2CFTP can omit unnecessary file I/O overhead by relaying the file to the receiving client instead of storing the file at the server for indirect transmission. For direct transmission, instead of connecting a data channel every time a file is transmitted, the channel connection overhead is reduced while minimizing the waste of the number of direct channels between clients by maintaining the first connected channel while the file transfer is required within a predetermined time. File transfer experiments show that the proposed file transfer protocol has a reduced file transfer delay time than the existing methods. In addition, it was confirmed that the direct transfer method is suitable for transferring large files, and the indirect transfer method is suitable for transferring multiple small-sized files in a bundle.

A polymorphic RPC calculus

The RPC calculus is a simple semantic foundation for multi-tier programming languages such as Links in which located functions can be written for the client-server model. Subsequently, the typed RPC calculus is designed to capture the location information of functions by types and to drive location type-directed slicing compilations. However, the use of locations is currently limited to monomorphic ones, which is one of the gaps to overcome to put into practice the theory of RPC calculi for client-server model. This paper proposes a polymorphic RPC calculus to allow programmers to write succinct multi-tier programs using polymorphic location constructs. Then the polymorphic multitier programs can be automatically translated into programs only containing location constants amenable to the existing slicing compilation methods. We formulate a type system for the polymorphic RPC calculus, and prove its type soundness. Also, we design a monomorphization translation together with proofs on its type and semantic correctness for the translation. (C) 2020 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Wireless LANs (Local Area Networks) are currently spreading over diverse places such as hotels and airports, as well as offices and homes. Consequently, they provide convenient and important ways to access the Internet. Another type of communication model, Peer-to-Peer (P2P) communication on the Internet, has also attracted much attention, and P2P over wireless LANs will soon be very common. There are concerns about the capability of wireless stations (STAB) to send a large amount of traffic on an uplink. In this paper, we first clarify some issues that arise in this context by examining the feature of the Access Point(AP). Furthermore, we consider the role of the AP and propose, as a solution, ways of enabling both efficient and fair transmission over both the downlink and uplink. We evaluate the proposed schemes through simulations and show that communications over the uplink and downlink can share the wireless LAN access resource effectively. Furthermore, we show that coordinating our solution with the 802.11e Enhanced Distributed Channel Access (EDCA) can meet the different requirements of various types of traffic.

OPTIMAL GRANULARITY AND SCHEME OF PARALLEL TEST-GENERATION IN A DISTRIBUTED SYSTEM

A client-Agent-server model (GAS model) which can decrease the work load of the client by adding agent processors to the client-server model (CS model) is proposed and an approach to parallel test generation for logic circuits on the CAS model is presented. Two problems are considered: optimal granularity problem and optimal scheme problem. First, the problem of parallel test generation on the CAS model is formulated to analyze the effect of the granularity (grain size of target faults allocated to processors) in both cases of static and dynamic task allocation (optimal granularity problem), Then the relationship between the number of processors and the total processing time is analyzed (optimal scheme problem). From the analysis, it is shown that the CAS model can reduce the total processing time over the CS model and that there exists an optimal scheme (an optimal pair of numbers of agent processors and server processors) for the CAS model which minimizes the total processing time for a given number of processors. To corroborate the analysis, the proposed parallel test generation algorithm is implemented on a network of more than 100 workstations and experimental results for the ISCAS benchmark circuits are presented. It is shown that the experimental results are very dose to the theoretical results which confirms the existence of optimal granularity and optimal scheme which minimizes the total processing time for the CAS model.
