The nodes in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) contain limited energy resources, which are needed to transmit data to base station (BS). Routing protocols are designed to reduce the energy consumption. clustering algorithms are best in this aspect. Such clustering algorithms increase the stability and lifetime of the network. However, every routing protocol is not suitable for heterogeneous environments. AM-DisCNT is proposed and evaluated as a new energy efficient protocol for wireless sensor networks. AM-DisCNT uses circular deployment for even consumption of energy in entire wireless sensor network. Cluster-head selection is on the basis of energy. Highest energy node becomes CH for that round. Energy is again compared in the next round to check the highest energy node of that round. The simulation results show that AM-DisCNT performs better than the existing heterogeneous protocols on the basis of network lifetime, throughput and stability of the system.

The ability of newer generation of commercially available radios used on the sensor nodes operating on different channels (called multi-channel) provides an opportunity to alleviate the effects of interference and consequently improve network performance significantly. In this paper, we investigate a multichannel communication algorithm associated with routing process (called Multichannel Mesh Routing Communication scheme - MMRC) implemented for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) in order to improve the capacity and network performance with the following features: interference and contention-free, multi-path routing, energy efficiency and load balance. We use simulation technique to evaluate and compare the performance of our new algorithm to other similar single channel schemes in terms of energy consumption, traffic load balance and network throughput. The simulation results show that the proposed multichannel scheme can increase the performance significantly compared to other proposed scheme.

Contextual infonnation is widely exploited in the-state-of-art object detection systems, most of which utilize pre-defined spatial relationships (e.g., above, below, next to, etc.). However, we observe that the spatial arrangement of objects manifests heterogeneous statistical distribution for different object classes, which suggests mining class-specified prototypes of spatial contexts in a data-driven manner. This paper proposes a novel clustering-based method for automatically discovering spatial context prototypes to beyond the pre-defined spatial relationship representation in literature. Based on the learned prototypes, we further construct a compact representation on spatial context feature, by means of efficient coding method of soft-assignment quantization. Our experimental results on PASCAL VOC dataset demonstrate that the proposed method can capture meaningful spatial context prototypes for various object class pairs and thus boost recognition performance on object detection task.

This paper proposes a solution which can collect customer feedback with the help of smart phone client software and affinity propagation algorithm is applied to determine which region should be deploy first according to giant user feedback from that client software. Recommendation systems have a prevalent cold-start problem. The problem is occurred might due to new users or new items (music) are added into the system. In this paper, the meaning of the cold-start is narrowed to that the systems do not understand the new user's preferences. Therefore, systems can not recommend the music to users. Although many recommendation systems have a solution to reduce the cold-start, e.g., general systems utilize random to select songs. The systems random select some music works to user so that systems will know the user's preferences after they rated the music works. However, systems may cost much time to collect the necessary information when the new user is interesting in some special types of music. Therefore, if systems select various type of music initially, the user's preferences will be extracted more quickly. That is the cold-start problem can be reduced when the types of initial recommended music are various. In our approach, we utilize SUM to select some music from clusters. According to experiment, SUM selects type of music more average than k-means and random selection. Therefore, SOM can improve the cold-start problem and increase the precision of recommendation results.

Reducing node energy consumption is a vital requirement in wireless sensor networks. In this paper, we studied classic clustering algorithms in wireless sensor networks and find two main reasons causing unnecessary energy consumption, which are fixed operation periods and too much information exchanged in cluster-heads selection. Then a more energy-efficient clustering algorithm is proposed, whose kernels are adaptive operation period model and a new cluster-heads selection method. Simulation results show that the proposed protocol is more energy-efficient and suitable for wireless sensor network.

Aiming at the problem that node load is rarely considered in existing clustering routing algorithm for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), a dynamic clustering routing algorithm for WSN is presented in this paper called DCRCL (Dynamic clustering Routing Considering Load). This algorithm is comprised of three phases including cluster head (CH) selection, cluster setup and inter-cluster routing. First, the CHs are selected based on residual energy and node load. Then the non-CH nodes choose a cluster by comparing the cost function of its neighbor CHs. At last, each CH communicates with base station by using multi-hop communication. The simulation results show that comparing with the existing one, the techniques life cycle and date volume of the network are increased by 30.7 percent and 29.8 percent respectively by using the proposed algorithm DCRCL.

Vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs) are considered to have an enormous potential in enhancing road traffic safety and traffic efficiency. Socio-economic challenges, network scalability and stability are identified among the main challenges in VANETs. In response to these challenges, this paper proposes a novel user-oriented Fuzzy Logic-based k-hop distributed clustering scheme for VANETs that takes into consideration the vehicle passenger preferences. The novelty element introduced is the employment of Fuzzy Logic as a prominent player in the clustering scheme. To the best knowledge of the authors, there are no Fuzzy Logic-based clustering algorithms designed for VANETs. Simulation-based testing demonstrate how the proposed solution increases the stability of vehicular networks, lifetime and stability of cluster heads compared to both the classic Lowest ID algorithm and an utility function-based clustering scheme previously proposed by the same authors.
