The paper discusses development issues of surgical procedures coding systems for use at the national and international levels within the health information systems. The work was carried out using the Russian and foreign experiences, including international standard ISO/FDIS 1828:2012. The development system structure contains basic categories of medical entities (axes): surgical deed and surgical subdeed, objects, site and interventional equipment. Abdominal surgeries (528 procedures) were entered in the coding system database and structured according defined categories.

On the basis of the requirements of a product data management system (PDM) for the flexible coding system,the principle of the flexible coding system oriented multiview is analyzed. Generation and utilization of coding should be associated with the context of the object. The architecture of the flexible coding system oriented multi-view is studied and the implementation class diagram of the system is designed. The system can support the establishment of five types of code segments, provide the tools of flexible defining coding rules and drive the automatic generation of object coding in different views (contexts). On the foundation of the characteristics of the system, coding for parts is taken as a sample to validate and elaborate the flexible coding process of the system.

In health care services, technology requires that correct information be duly available to professionals, citizens and authorities, worldwide. Thus, clinical laboratory sciences require standardized electronic exchanges for results of laboratory examinations. The NPU (Nomenclature, Properties and Units) coding system provides a terminology for identification of result values (property values). It is structured according to BIPM, ISO, IUPAC and IFCC recommendations. It uses standard terms for established concepts and structured definitions describing: which part of the universe is examined, which component of relevance in that part, which kind-of-property is relevant. Unit and specifications can be added where relevant [system(spec)-Component(spec);kind-of-property(spec) = ? unit]. The English version of this terminology is freely accessible at http://***/cnpu/ and http://***, directly or through the IFCC and IUPAC websites. It has been nationally used for more than 10 years in Denmark and Sweden and has been translated into 6 other languages. The NPU coding system provides a terminology for dedicated kinds-of-property following the international recommendations. It fits well in the health network and is freely accessible. Clinical laboratory professionals worldwide will find many advantages in using the NPU coding system, notably with regards to an accreditation process.

Based on the Group Technology and according to the function, structure and manufacturing process of the injection mold, a classification and coding system for injection mold is developed specially. The system is mainly centre around the classification, code structure and the way of the coding, by which the information description and transmission between CAD and CAPP becomes unblocked, the mold CAD/CAPP integration and automation in design and process comes true. It is supposed to help reduce the time in process planning, increase plan consistency and efficiency, improve mold quality and minimize the time-to-market for the mold products.

The aim of the present study is to reformulate a descriptive typology previously developed with grounded theory as a result of the qualitative analysis of a good outcome case study. We developed a transtheoretical and easily usable coding system. We describe the developing process of this new coding system, which is focused on the use of language by the psychotherapist. Four researchers were discussing every stage and basing decisions on consensus. As a result, we have developed the Psychotherapist Interventions coding system (PICS). The resultant coding system is described within 4 group of macro categories: (1) Discursive contract;(2) Facilitators of the therapeutic relationship (3) Facilitators of the client's speech;and (4) Liberation of constraining speeches. The PICS aims to contribute to developing knowledge on research and how therapist interventions contribute within psychotherapeutic processes, acknowledge the kind of interventions therapists are using in the sessions and assist teaching on novel therapists in training programs.

This original paper, based on data from the Erasmus+Blurred Lives Project, presents a new multi-dimensional categorisation model to describe negative online experiences, including forms of cyberbullying, based on a study of internet usage among over N = 2,500 adolescents with lower socio-economic status (SES) backgrounds across five European countries. The paper first sets out the rationale for the development of a new coding system, before describing the current study and nature of the survey data collected. There follows a description of the development of the new system and the series of reliability checks undertaken by the research team (N = 11, from 5 countries) and of the refinements made to the categories and codes. The resulting coding system is presented with consideration of the strengths and limitations, and description of two early pilot studies which have successfully adopted the new system. © 2023 – The authors. A natural human-robot interaction (HRI) relies on the robot's capacity to understand the users' behaviors through psychological and sociological concepts. Users expect the robot to act in a realistic manner to create a more human-like relationship. In this context, trust is an essential concept as it determines the effectiveness of the system and its acceptance by users. The understanding of trust dynamics in HRI is still low and systematic studies of multimodal trust-related behaviors in HRI are relatively rare given the rising popularity of the topic. To bridge this gap, in this paper we present a novel coding system TURIN (Trust in hUman Robot INteraction) to study trust in HRI. A preliminary assessment of the coding system was carried out on the Vernissage dataset. Results show a significant agreement between expert annotators.

The coding and classification of information is the way in which the BIM system realizes the semantic standard. The research on information classification coding in construction industry is relatively early, and BIM technology has been used in many engineering practice. This paper mainly introduces the BIM building coding system, briefly introduces the general situation of BIM, and analyzes and compares the representative coding system of domestic and international construction industry in detail, and then sums up the new coding system of community and construction facility cycle management.

A new French coding system of clinical procedures, the Classification Commune Des Actes Medicaux (CCAM), has been developed at the turn of the millennium (between 1996 and 2001). Two methodologies were used: a traditional domain-experts consensus method, and an artificial-intelligence-based semantic representation. An economic evaluation of clinical procedures was also undertaken for the rating for fee-for-service payment. We present the methodologies used and stress how the European Union research project, 'European Consortium, Generalised Architecture for Languages, Encyclopaedias and Nomenclatures in Medicine' (GALEN), facilitated the sharing and maintaining of consistent medical knowledge. This country case study highlights the significant cost to individual countries in developing their own classifications in isolation. It also demonstrates the benefits of contributing to international efforts such as GALEN that enable harmonisation, yet still allow for diversity.

Current status of the spontaneous reporting and classification/coding system for herbal and traditional medicine in pharmacovigilance

Background: While the use of herbal and traditional medicine (H&TM) has been extensive worldwide, the current status of H&TM management in pharmacovigilance remains to be investigated. To date, there is little information regarding the use of the classification/coding system (CCS) to detect signals for certain drugs within databases built on the basis of the spontaneous reporting system (SRS). The purpose of this study is to investigate the status of the SRS and CCS for H&TM in the pharmacovigilance systems of various countries around the world. Methods: An e-mail survey was performed from late December 2018 to early January 2019 with 54 experts in pharmacovigilance. The results based on the information provided by the respondents were summarized. Results: Fourteen experts from 13 countries responded to the survey. Eleven countries/regions were found to already include H&TM in their SRSs, managing only limited range of H&TM. Of the 9 countries/regions that provided the information on the status of CCS for H&TM in their domestic pharmacovigilance systems, only China had a separate CCS for H&TM. Conclusion: Revising the current pharmacovigilance systems to include or expand the range of H&TM, and developing an internationally harmonized system to classify and code H&TM suitable to the unique characteristics of H&TM are critical and overall beneficial.
