In this paper, we investigate the synchronisation control problem for a class of discrete-time switched complex networks with time-varying delays via a coding-decoding-based approach. An observer-based control scheme is proposed for each node by utilising the outputs of complex networks. The data are transmitted in a digital manner and only the sequence of finite coded signals is sent from the observer to the controller. We design a proper coding-decoding procedure for each node to ensure that the closed-loop networks achieve the expected synchronisation performance. By applying the average dwell-time switching strategy and a uniform quantisation approach, some criteria are firstly presented to ensure the detectability of the complex networks. Then sufficient conditions are provided for the existence of desired observer-based controller, guaranteeing the synchronisation of complex networks. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the obtained theoretical results.

The synchronization control problem is investigated for a class of discrete-time dynamical networks with packet dropouts via a coding-decoding-based approach. The data is transmitted through digital communication channels and only the sequence of finite coded signals is sent to the controller. A series of mutually independent Bernoulli distributed random variables is utilized to model the packet dropout phenomenon occurring in the transmissions of coded signals. The purpose of the addressed synchronization control problem is to design a suitable coding-decoding procedure for each node, based on which an efficient decoder-based control protocol is developed to guarantee that the closed-loop network achieves the desired synchronization performance. By applying a modified uniform quantization approach and the Kronecker product technique, criteria for ensuring the detectability of the dynamical network are established by means of the size of the coding alphabet, the coding period and the probability information of packet dropouts. Subsequently, by resorting to the input-to-state stability theory, the desired controller parameter is obtained in terms of the solutions to a certain set of inequality constraints which can be solved effectively via available software packages. Finally, two simulation examples are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the obtained results.

In this paper, we propose a containment controller based on truncated prediction and a coding-decoding communication protocol (CDCP) for a class of multi-agent systems (MASs) with input time delay. Using the sensor outputs, we design corresponding observers for each agent, as well as the corresponding coders and decoders. The difference between the observed and decoded states is dynamically quantized by the coder and transmitted to other agents, while truncated prediction is used to compensate for the input time delay. We first present some lemmas to guarantee the detectability of MASs. Then, we provide sufficient conditions for the control protocol based on decoded and observed states to hold, and implement the containment control of MASs. Finally, the observer gain and controller gain are obtained by solving the LMI, and a numerical simulation example is provided to demonstrate the validity of the conclusions.

The purpose of the paper is to show the essence of biological, psychological, social and some technical systems-all systems that can be named organized or cybernetic systems. The functional organization of these systems includes complex informational control procedures that are based on analysis by synthesis principle (A-by-S) (or on closed-loop coding-decoding (CL-CD) procedures in other words). Organized system includes two functionally different subsystems: the controlling one (a controller) that processes the information and the controlled one that carries out transformations of matter and energy. I e. technologies in broad view not only material technical, but and social control, educational for goal-oriented actions. Information reception, transfer, storing, augmentation, processing, comparison, segmenting and analyzing, information synthesis, informational control and etc., dominate in these systems. Matter and energy transformations play a secondary role only as technological means for realization of information procedures. The closed-loop procedure of A-by-S corresponds to mental procedures of vision. It is supposed that the image "tracing" and reverse image reconstruction based on quasiholographic principles are part of cyclic procedure of coding-decoding. Tachistoscopic experiments revealed that the duration of one such hypothesis-testing mental imaging cycle of the human visual analyzers is about 8-10 milliseconds.

In this paper, we consider the distributed generalized Nash equilibrium(GNE) seeking problem in strongly monotone games. The transmission among players is implemented through a digital communication network with limited bandwidth. For improving communication efficiency or/and security, an event-triggered coding-decoding-based communication is first proposed, where the data(decision variable) are first mapped to a series of finite-level codewords and, only when an event condition is satisfied, then sent to the neighboring agents. Moreover, a distributed communication-efficient GNE seeking algorithm is constructed accordingly, and the overrelaxation scheme is further taken into consideration. Through primal-dual analysis, the proposed algorithm is proven to converge to a variational GNE with fixed step-sizes by recasting it as an inexact forward-backward iteration. Finally, numerical simulations illustrate the benefit of the proposed algorithms in terms of saving communication resources.

A real-time high-speed Reed-Solomon coding—decoding system has been built based on a low-cost signal processor TMS 32010. By taking advantage of the TMS 320 16-bit multiplier and barrel shifter, the evaluation of the sum-of-products expression over a prime field can be simplified. decoding of a (256,228) code with powerful error correcting capability over GF(257) has been implemented in this system, and the information bit rate is at least twice that of the ISDN B-channel basic rate.

In this article, the zonotopic distributed fusion estimation problem is investigated for a class of general nonlinear systems over binary sensor networks subject to unknown-but-bounded (UBB) noises. The network communication from nodes to the fusion center is confined to the limited bit rate. To alleviate the impact from less measurement information of the binary sensor, a modified innovation is constructed to improve the estimation accuracy. Then, a novel coding-decoding approach is proposed to ensure that the decoder has the ability to decode information from each node. Based on the matrix weighting fusion method, a distributed fusion algorithm is put forward under the zonotopic set-membership filtering framework, and the F-radius of the local zonotopic sets are derived and minimized by selecting the filtering gain parameters. Moreover, the bit rate allocation scheme and the weighting coefficients are determined by resolving two optimization problems. In addition, a sufficient condition is established to guarantee the uniform boundedness of the F-radius of the fused zonopotic. Finally, the ballistic object tracking systems is utilized to illustrate the availability of the presented algorithm.

This paper studied the performance of networked control systems (NCSs) with coding and quantization constraints. In the forward channel of NCSs, the effects of noise and coding-decoding under a two-degree of freedom controller (2DOF) are considered, while in the feedback channel, the effects of quantization and bandwidth are taken into account. The performance expression is achieved by the spectral factorization. From the results, it can be concluded that the performance is determined by the given plant construction (non minimum phase (NMP) zeros, unstable poles), characteristics of the channel parameters. At the same time, the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN), coding-decoding, quantization, bandwidth and other factors in the communication path also affect the performance of the network communication path. Finally, the effectiveness and merits of the proposed control scheme are verified by simulations. (C) 2020 ISA. Published by Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

In this article, the cluster synchronization control problem is studied for discrete-time complex dynamical networks when the data transmission is subject to constrained bit rate. A bit-rate model is presented to quantify the limited network bandwidth, and the effects from the constrained bit rate onto the control performance of the cluster synchronization are evaluated. A sufficient condition is first proposed to guarantee the ultimate boundedness of the error dynamics of the cluster synchronization, and then, a bit-rate condition is established to reveal the fundamental relationship between the bit rate and the certain performance index of the cluster synchronization. Subsequently, two optimization problems are formulated to design the desired synchronization controllers with aim to achieve two distinct synchronization performance indices. The codesign issue for the bit-rate allocation protocol and the controller gains is further discussed to reduce the conservatism by locally minimizing a certain asymptotic upper bound of the synchronization error dynamics. Finally, three illustrative simulation examples are utilized to validate the feasibility and effectiveness of the developed synchronization control scheme.
