Proximal support vector machine (PSVM) adopts the class labels as priori and performs the similar level of accuracy as the regular SVM and is significantly faster. However, PSVM dose not take the local structure of the data points into account. In this paper, by introducing the pairwise constraints as priori, we propose a Localized Pairwise Constraint Proximal Support Vector Machine (LPCPSVM) for classification learning. The central idea is to find a projection vector such that can assure the maximum margin of the SVM hyperplane, and considers improving the tightness among distances between the similar data pairs under the Must-link constraint, while expanding the distances between the dissimilar ones under the Cannot-link constraint. We also show that LPCPSVM can be extended to non-linear KLPCPSVM by using the standard kernel trick and demonstrate the practical usefulness and good performance of the proposed algorithms for classification through extensive simulations with benchmark datasets. Experimental results show that our method can select the good features and has comparable test correctness and faster computational time to that of PSVM classifiers.

Language may be viewed as a system of conventionalized cognition in the sense that it conventionally conceptualizes a range of perceived realities shared by a community of speakers. In this talk, I focus on how language, and Chinese in particular, conventionalizes cognition in order to contribute to a macro-theory of cognitive informatics. Based on distributional data from a large-scale corpus, I will show that Chinese conventionally and selectively represents important aspects of cognition, such as transition vs. state, and production vs. perception. I will also draw attention to the fact that these conventions lead to the packaging of cognitive events, i.e., following Pustejovsky's event coercion, which can be seen as an extension of Aristotle's four causes of knowledge. Lastly, relying on this intuition that language conventionalizes cognition, I will propose a simple yet robust approach to text-based emotion detection and classification.

With the rapid growth of networking and high-computing power, the demand of larger and more complex software systems has increased dramatically. To deal with the complexity in designing large-scale complex software systems, the concept of component-based software design has gained popularity recently. However, in pursuing a component-based approach there are obstacles to be overcome. One of them is the state-explosion problem in the formal verification of large-scale component-based systems. In this paper, we introduce a modeling mechanism and a set of heuristic rules to facilitate the verification of component-based software systems. Our heuristic techniques are much weaker than current theories useful for the compositional verification. More significantly, our technique can eliminate the interleaved behaviors caused by asynchronously sending actions. Therefore, our technique provides a much more powerful means for the compositional verification of asynchronous processes. Our technique can efficiently analyze several state-based properties: deadlock, reachable, and livelock state. The experimental results show a significant improvement in the analysis of large-scale component-based systems.

Irony is a form of figurative language, which is often used to make fun of an entity. We employ paragraph vector to capture syntactic and semantic features of the figurative language to subsequently detect satiric and ironic content in a given text using data mining. We extract psycholinguistic features with the help of a tool called Linguistic Inquiry Word Count. In order to extract useful insights of what constitutes figurative language, we combined syntactic, semantic, and psycholinguistic features together. We demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed methodology on two satiric news datasets and one ironic customer review dataset. The proposed approach outperformed on the state of the art results.

In neuropsychology it is commonly recognized that 70% of all the sensory receptors in the brain are inputted from the eyes. However, an important internal cognitive function of the eyes as the perceptual browser of the memory and the mind has not yet been recognized. This paper contrasts the cognitive mechanisms of the eyes as both the sensor of the brain externally and the browser of the mind internally. The key assertion is that the eyes function as a bi-directional organ: a visual sensor of the brain, more important, a perceptual browser of the mind. The sensory of the brain can be categorized into external and internal senses. The former encompass vision, auditory, smell, tactility, and tastes. The latter refers to perceptivity that forms the sixth sense of the brain. The perceptual sense encompasses consciousness, memory searching, motivation, willingness, goal setting, emotion, sense of spatiality, and sense of motion. The reveal of the internal perceptual mechanisms of the eyes is not only theoretically significant to identify the physiological organ of the thinking engine of the brain, but also practically useful to explain a wide range of cognitive mechanisms of he brain and mind.

In this paper we use the graphical formalism timed-arc Petri nets to specify cognitive systems. In addition to the usual characteristics of this formalism, this timed extension of PNs features the possibility of capturing the facts of enabling/disabling a transition as a consequence of the time elapsed. This feature is useful to represent systems where the delays can strongly modify the state, such as the memorization process. In order to illustrate the suitability of this model we formally represent a cognitive model of the memory. This process includes the appropriate characteristics to show the advantages of having a very natural conception of concurrency as well as, how time can elapse and sometimes go beyond the threshold which determines if a perception goes into the long-term memory or not. The memory structure/working assumed can be better studied in Squire et al. (1993), Solso (1999), and Wang and Wang (2002).

The blockchain system has emerged as one of the focal points of research in recent years, particularly in applications and services such as cryptocurrencies and smart contracts. In this context, the hash value serves as a crucial element in linking blocks within the blockchain, ensuring the integrity of block contents. Therefore, hash algorithms represent a vital security technology for ensuring the integrity and security of blockchain systems. This study primarily focuses on analyzing the security and execution efficiency of mainstream hash algorithms in the Proof of Work (PoW) calculations within blockchain systems. It proposes an evaluation factor and conducts comparative experiments to evaluate each hash algorithm. The experimental results indicate that there are no significant differences in the security aspects among SHA-2, SHA-3, and BLAKE2. However, SHA-2 and BLAKE2 demonstrate shorter computation times, indicating higher efficiency in execution.

Craters are important geographical features caused by the impacts of meteoroids. Craters have been widely studied because they contain crucial information about the age and geologic formations of planets. This paper discusses an automated crater-detection framework using knowledge discovery and data mining (KDD) process including sampling, feature selection and creation, and supervised learning methods. The framework is evaluated on a real world case study of Mars crater detection. Compared with the existing method, the F detection rate is improved from 0.613 to 0.772 using a Martial site of area 451,562,500 m 2 .

Recent basic studies have revealed an unprecedented phenomenon of the emergence of Abstract Sciences (AS) [Wang & Tunstel, 2019] as a counterpart of classic concrete sciences. AS encompasses contemporary disciplines of data, information, knowledge, intelligence, mathematics, and system sciences. AS leads to novel theories and technologies for AI in general, and Machine Knowledge Learning (MKL) in particular [Wang, 2016]. The latest discovery in AS reveals that the basic unit of knowledge is a binary relation (bir) [Wang, 2017] as that of bit for information and data. MKL powered by the breakthroughs in cognitive Knowledge Bases (CKB) and denotational mathematics will enhance human learning capability. MKL leads to advanced form of machine learning, which enables cognitive machines as an indispensable assistant to humans with mutually sharable knowledge bases towards collective knowledge learning. A wide range of novel applications in AI and cognitive systems will be presented.
