This paper presents an acquisition circuit design integrated with commercial ICs and platform is built for the development of long-term ECG monitor. An efficient DCT-IV-based ECG compression algorithm with a higher Quality Score (QS) and a better Compressing Ratio (CR) is further embedded to reduce a great number of recording data in storage and transmission. To fairly evaluate the performance of the proposed compressing algorithm, the ECG signals sourced from MIT-BIT arrhythmia database with a sampling rate of 360 Hz are employed to be the test patterns. The simulation results show that the averages of CR, Percent RMS Difference (PRD), and QS are, respectively, 5.267, 0.187, and 28.223 for all 48 lead-V1 patterns of MIT-BIH database. Compared with the Lee et al.'s algorithm, the QS value of the proposed method has a great improvement by 25%. Finally, we successfully combine the above works into a system and make a detailed comparison with state-of-the-art approach. The experiment results clearly show that the proposed system would be a better choice for realizing ECG signal acquisition in the future.

Subsurface images are widely used by the oil companies to find oil reservoirs. The construction of these images involves to collect and process a huge amount of seismic data. Generally, the oil companies use compression algorithms to reduce the storage and transmission costs. Currently, the compression process is developed on-site using CPU architectures, whereas the construction of the subsurface images is developed on GPU clusters. For this reason, the decompression process has to be developed on GPU architectures. So, fast and parallel decompression algorithms are required to be implemented on GPUs. We implemented an algorithm that performs the decompression of seismic traces on GPU. The algorithm is based on a 2D Lifting Wavelet Transform. The decompression algorithm was developed in CUDA 6.5 and implemented into a GeForce GTX660 GPU. This algorithm was tested using different data sets supplied by an oil company. Experimental results allowed us to establish how the compression ratio affects the performance of our algorithm. Additionally, we also show how the number of threads per block affects this performance.

This paper presents an efficient lossy compression method,called LOOSYZ,based on LZ77 to encode the gray level *** method contains a search algorithm to search the input sequence in dictionary until it finds the longest match sequence with the minimum differences in gray ***,the algorithm encodes the input sequence to the closest founded block in dictionary which support maximum similarity to the input *** spite of low missing information and preserving image quality,the new algorithm is able to obtain high compression for test *** experimental results present a good quality of test images with high compression,compare with LZ77 and JPEG.

This paper describes an architecture for the massively parallel digitization of neural action potentials. The scheme achieves simultaneous data compression and channel multiplexing through wired-OR interactions within an array of single-slope A/D converters. The achieved compression is lossy but effective at retaining the critical samples belonging to action potential spikes. Simulation results using ex-vivo experimental data from a 512-channel array show compression rates up to similar to 73x while maintaining >= 90% reconstruction coverage for parasol cells in the primate retina.

Cloud radio access network (C-RAN) is a next generation wireless access network architecture. In this architecture, common public radio interface (CPRI) links are widely used to transmit baseband signals. Currently, one of the great technical challenges for the C-RAN architecture is the soaring CPRI bandwidth required for data transmission between remote radio unit (RRU) and baseband unit (BBU). In this paper, we propose a novel compression method that exploits the temporal and spectral features of baseband signals, which can achieve high compression ratio (3.56x) and low latency (3.4usec) with limited impact on end-to-end communication performance (error vector magnitude <1.89%). We use a combination of reducing signal sampling, digital automatic gain control, Lloyd-Max quantization and cyclic prefix replacement to compress LTE uplink and downlink signals. Upon verifying the feasibility and validity of the algorithm, we implement the design with field programmable gate array (FPGA) resources.

We will firstly apply XDrill compression algorithm to the SOAP protocol. Firstly, this paper makes in-depth analysis of the differences in principles between XDrill algorithm and XMill algorithm, pointing out the underlying causes for higher compression efficiency of XDrill, and confirms this view by a large number of experimental data. Then, XDrill algorithm framework as well as algorithm implementation suitable for Web services are proposed. Finally, we further validate the efficiency of algorithm model after optimization through specific experiments. On the other hand, we conduct valid document compression for SOAP protocol, reducing the Web service transmission times. Through a large number of experimental data, we find that the response time under XDrill-SOAP protocol is reduced by about 50% on average than traditional Pure-SOAP protocol, with an average reduction in the response time of about 10 % compared with XMill-SOAP protocol.

Bakalářské práce se zabývá srovnáním a analýzou jednotlivých nástrojů u současných komprimačních algoritmů využívaných pro komprimaci videa ve vysokém rozlišení. Sekvence videosignálů vyžadují velké množství paměti pro jejich uchovávání a zabírají velkou šířku pásma při jejich přenosu, proto je nutné videosignály komprimovat a to s ohledem na kvalitu videosignálu po dekomprimaci. Práce se zaměřuje hlavně na rozdíly mezi jednotlivými algoritmy a celkově jejich funkci. Součástí práce je databáze komprimovaných videosekvencí, porovnání výkonnosti jednotlivých algoritmů a srovnání subjektivní kvality komprimovaných videosekvencí.

Diplomová práce se zabývá porovnáním možností komprese multimediálních signálů se zaměřením na videosignál a užívané kodeky. Detailně popisuje především kódování a dekódování videosignálu dle standardů MPEG. V teoretické části jsou uvedeny charakteristické vlastnosti obrazového signálu a zdůvodnění potřeby použití komprese pro jeho záznam a přenos. Dále jsou vysvětleny metody s jejichž pomocí je odstraněna nadbytečnost (redundance) a zbytečnost (irelevance) z kódovaného obrazového signálu. Rovněž jsou diskutovány způsoby měření kvality obrazového signálu. Samostatná kapitola je věnována charakteristickým rysům v současnosti používaných a perspektivních kodeků. V praktické části práce byly vytvořeny funkce v prostředí Matlab, implementované do grafického uživatelského rozhraní, jenž simulují činnost funkčních bloků kodéru a dekodéru. Na základě uživatelsky zadaných vstupních parametrů provádí kódování a dekódování obrazu složeného ze snímků ve formátu RGB a následně zobrazí grafické i numerické výstupy z jednotlivých funkčních bloků. Implementovány jsou algoritmy pro úvodní zpracování vstupní sekvence snímků včetně podvzorkování, dále též DCT, kvantování, kompenzace pohybu a k nim inverzní operace. Samostatné kapitoly jsou věnovány popisu realizace kodeku v prostředí Matlab a výstupům z jednotlivých kroků zpracování. Dále jsou též diskutovány srovnání kompresních algoritmů a vliv změny parametrů na výstupní podobu signálu. V závěru práce jsou shrnuty zjištěné poznatky.
